I can't tell you how happy I am I stumbled across this TH-cam page! I can't tell you how sad I was when game trailers shut down. I went back to the website for weeks hoping they would say that it's up and running again. I was looking for a dishonered 2 review and I found this one and I'm like hey that voice sounds very familiar. Its Brandon Jones!!!!! Late with this one, but you can also incapacitate enemies non lethally after a crossbow bolt or gunshot to the arms or legs

I'm actually glad that Dishonored 2 actually ending up being good in spite of earlier concerns that it was going to be pretty bad given the Bethesda review situation. I've got so many games on my backlog, but I guess this one will have to go on as well.

I'm enjoying it a lot so far. Playing a stealth, high chaos run right now with Corvo, but I can't wait to try out Emily. I love the amount of detail in the world, such as the various posters and newspapers.
You dont have to wait for a parry to choke them. Just use a charged attack. It wont kill them but they will stagger and you can move in to choke

Valjin I've beaten the game twice already. If I wanted to know if it was good or not there were dozens of sites that managed to finish it in time. From a business perspective this is terrible for them. Game Trailers always had a good turnaround so I dunno why this has to be any different.

Play the two games in succession if you can. The story is very good, reminds me of The Count Of Montecristo. And get the collector's edition of Dishonored 2, it's very cheap and the mask replica included is AMAZING. With some elastic bands (from used coronavirus face masks) you can kind of use it at a Halloween party to make a fancy entrance. And the ring (also included) is made of metal and perfectly usable too.
No powers are essential to navigation because I played without power first time out and it was magnificent experience for a change of pace from dishonored.
Hey guys, I have a question. Do Corvo and Emily have different story quests, or do they both have the same levels and objectives? Also, do they have a seperate story from each other, or are you playing the same story with just your voice and the hands you look at switched?
Same missions, just some different VO.
That square to skip cutscene in the bottom left is so distracting, who decided it should be constantly present? Just fade it out after a second or two.
I know it's just a small thing but for some reason it's bugging me here!
I've got that cool clockwork mansion mission down to a 3 minute run through right to the target without getting spotted.

Nice review, but this day and age, it would be nice to address performance on the different platforms.
Sadly, games are often released in a barely playable state, so while it's great to hear what you liked / disliked about the game, without information about how it runs, the review is only half-way there for me. Even if you didn't encounter any performance issues, please note that. As I said: So many games are released broken...
Clairvoyant81 I sugest you go to Digital Foundry's channel they specialize in resolution/frame rate analysis, EZA reviews on the other hand focus on how fun the game is to play and how good is the story, music etc.

I finished the first game not too long ago. So which ending was the canon ending to connect with Dishonored 2?
Low chaos endings for both the main game and dlc are the canon, also the Dishonored 1 dlc is kinda essential for 2's story as it has characters from them in major roles (for example Delilah)

If you play non leathal and try not to get detected. It almost feels like Thief. You can even decline the power of the void if you want.

Id disagree with the "bland combat". Dishonored is unique with its easy flow combat that makes u feel like a total unstoppable killer in a captivating way with its animstions and combinations of weapons and powers

Aren't performance issues mainly on the PC port? A review should be the subjective experience of the reviewer, and according to the description they reviewed on PS4. Discussion of broader issues with a game are a news story, not a review.
Nice review shame there's too many other good games atm play and FFXV next week. (and still need to play Dishonored 1)

The performance issues are already being fixed. This review is future proof. There is no need to mention them unless they were here to stay.

Future proof? Are you kidding? A review shouldn't look into a crystal ball. It should be about the current state of its object... and currently, this game has performance issues that hamper its enjoyment for quite a few people.
Performance can be fixed by changing sliders in the settings. Core gameplay cannot. Which one would you like to hear about in a review?

They reviewed the game and focused on the actual mechanics of the games. Not bugs, that mind you, not everyone is experiencing, even on PC.
Easy Allies kinda irrelevant. Your title does not say Dishonored 2 - PS4 Review. If your going to blanket encompass all platforms a quick caution or something should be given for the abysmal PC version, even if prefaced by the fact that you guys haven't personally played it.
Awsm review. Dishonored 2 is an absolute gem of a game.
This review really didn't sell me on it. I thought it would have got a 3.5/5. Is this better than the original (have it on Steam but have yet to start it). L&R.

Yea Dishonored 2 surpasses the first game by a long shot. The level design in this game is second to none. I spend hours just exploring all the areas in the game and seeing all the dynamic events happening. Feels very natural and lived in. The devs truly put a lot of effort in this game and it shows.
Ah that's good to know, like my dynamic environments! Sometimes a review can only do so much to give an impression of the minute to minute gameplay.

But it's so weird to me that no review of Dishonored 2 even mentions the disgusting input lag in this game. Aiming to pick up a coin is a task in it self. (No, I am not the only one with this problem and no, it is not because of my TVs input lag.)
Do reviewers really not notice it or do they simply not care?

Their reviews have to endure into the future after all. I agree that if a game is broken, it should be noted, but in this case, that isn't true for everyone, including PC players.
Most reviewers ignored it, because Bethesda immediately released a press statement that they were gonna fix everything soon for the people that experienced things.
Regardless, it sucks that you experienced issued, but hopefully they will get addressed soon, so that you can enjoy the game.
I know I'm like a year late, but that "input lag" was purposely added in by the devs and for what i don't know.

So it seems like both Corvo and Emily speak during conversations with NPCs this time around? Corvo being mute throughout the original really felt awkward and hampered an otherwise interesting story IMO.
Does anyone have any issue with input lag? I've got this on PS4 and its pretty unplayable, there is about 200ms of lag between moving the right stick and the camera to move. There are other people on forums with the same problem but doesn't seem widespread. Its not my setup tho, as all other games are fine (Overwatch, Titanfall 2 and so on).
Considering PS4 games are built to run the same no matter what PS4 console it is running on, its weird that I'm having game breaking issues that most others aren't experiencing.
Chris Phillips The action that causes me the most input lag is crouching. The sticks? Not so much. Does seem odd that people are having different problems on a closed platform [PS4].
Chris Phillips that sucks to hear. I have experienced it but only briefly and it's been negligible overall and I'm on ps4.
It actually seems relatively ok for the first 30 seconds or so, then it gradually ramps up to being a real issue.
5 stars in my book.

Dishonored 2 has the BEST level design in all of gaming, it's a truly monumental achievement! ....Pity it has such a weak start, it almost put me off playing!

I'm still waiting to buy it after they fix their PC port mess. However, if this is another fun to play but dumb to listen to Dishonored game I'm okay with that. The plot of the first one was about as generic as they come and at least this one has Stephen Russel. If I remember correctly, the celebrity voices in the first were just as pointless.
Much like Huber with Deus Ex, the original Dishonored changed gaming for me after doing a stealth no kill run. I highly recommend and encourage a stealth nu kill run with no powers in the sequel. I'm highly enjoying it, no other game really offers you this many ways to approach the game. They've done it again.
lmao i know im late af. but saying the combat is a downside o this game is wild indication of how little these guys know of the high level this game can be played at lol watch stealthgamerbr, and you'll realize its likely one of the best creative first person combat games recently made

Great stealth, incredible environments and level design and the powers are pretty neat.
Dishonored is about fucking anything but engaging combat, its a STEALTH game

are you sure you're not thinking about Thief? Dishonored is still a very new game series and considering even in the first game they give you the option to fight without getting wiped out in 30 seconds of open combat like MGS, I think combat is supposed to be viable. At least with the right upgrades if nothing else.

I am sure you could always turn that off in either options or by just not using a active ability that let's you do so. But I do agree - the industry has become very casual, casual to the point you yourself have to adjust your difficulty through gameplay means and options menu.

jokes aside though, if you are non-lethal it really is lackluster and awkward.
You can still kill enough if you want and aren't save scumming and still avoid high chaos.
For example i slaughtered every guard Stage one and most witches at the end with a few kills in other levels and got low chaos.
I like how the new dishonored adds female enemies and a main character to stay in line with the current games. Feminists should be thrilled that now we can decapitate female enemies too.
Great game, but hampered by boring plot and running like shite. 6/10 from me. Thanks for a good review though :)

Nice of you not to mention how underwhelming the story is and how buggy this game is.
Huber mentions the underwhelming story on several occasions in the review. Just to quote two examples: "The plot rarely has anything interesting to say" and "The bland story holds Dishonored 2 back". What else do you need?
Broken game, boring story, boring missions, still gets and excellente #facepalm. Look at metacritic. Press loves the game, players hate. Bethesda games always get a free pass. A shame. Terrible review.
