This is the first place I will go to for reviews. You always cover every single detail, without going on too long about each one. Your scores are always right on the mark, and the narrator is the best in the industry!
This game has one of the most fun single player campaigns I've played in a long time. I'd put it right up there high on my list with Dishonored, Bioshock and Half-Life 2
Great review. I'm actually surprised you said you kind of got tired of the glory kills, most everyone I talked to thought that they were surprisingly fast, satisfying, and didn't slow down the action.
Fair score in the end, even though most other games' media treats 80% games as "disappointing". I disagree with your asessment of Glory kills, I think they're an incredible addition to the usual formula and essential in moving the genre forward. The dynamic it creates is almost poetic when faced with a larger number of enemies, as you zip from one target to another as if trying to keep a streak going. In fact, if some sort of scoring and multipliers were part of this game, that'd make perfect sense with this mechanic.
+Khakimzhan if you are good enough they are. there is usually enough armor and health around from my experience... I just started it of course, went straigh with the hardest mode available, and so far, it seems totally ok without the bonus pickups from glory kills
my last 3 games i played.. Ratchet and clank, Uncharted 4 and Doom.. its been a good month. finally getting consistently good games this gen (lets ignore Homefront)
This game is the biggest surprise for me this year so far. I was expecting total garbage and even if the multiplayer is exactly that the campaign is incredible!
It's great to see you guys again. I used to watch your reviews for games years ago. And before GameTrailers got taken down I started watching your reviews again of games that looked interesting. If only there was a way to see most of those videos now.
IGN, who the old GT crew are still friends with I believe, bought all of the GT property, so they have all of the videos archived and still available for viewing.
Goddaaaaaaaaaaamn Brandon I missed your voice, you guys are still kickin, I'm so happy right now, I was afraid of missing you guys and your content in my life, picture me crying with joy :'D
I disagree on the melee kills and you guys basically missed the whole point of them giving you health to encourage aggressive play. You can also unlock a perk that speeds the kill animations up. They flow really well together IMO.
I majorly disagree about the glory kills. They never got old and were amazing. I hate the 5 stars thing. Not enough points. I'd give it a 5/5 but a 9.8 out of 10. The game is nearly flawless.
If you look at the video description, 4 Stars is Excellent, so for them, the game is great. I think sometimes the numbers get kinda in the way of the actual review. Hearing what they have to say is what really matters, but I get most people's discomfort with the stars and all.
i never understood why gametrailers was shut down. It was my favorite website. I'm glad i can still hear that voice in a videogame review. That's the voice of videogame reviews!
Honestly, I somewhat disagree about the glory kills getting repetitive if only because they are based on where you look and the angle you are at so if you ever get tired of the ones you are doing you could just look at a different body part, and I played on nightmare, where doing them in the heat of a big battle usually ends up getting you surrounded so you it stops you from stringing them too much. Plus there are even ones for doing it from in the air above your enemies which is insanely fun to pull off.
Very nice review, i'm enjoying the game a lot. Yes, the glory kills slow down the pace of the game, but at least, you can upgrade the armor and one hell runic to make them a lot faster.
Im really enjoying doom on the pc but its great when a dev gets a console port running at 60fps. And the graphics look so much better in person than they do in videos(duh) i was surprised on how good it looks maxed out even though i cant run it maxed at a decent framerate. Maybe when i get a evga 1080 soon, the rest of my rig is pretty new 5820k 4.6, 16gb 3200mhz ddr4, asus x99 pro 3.1, os on a samsung m.2 ssd and the oldest part of my rig but still kicking strong a classified 780. I game at 120hz 1080p but i just got a 4k 60hz tv i might hook my setup to, i might just get a 1070 and save some money. Need to sell parts i have laying around 3770k, 16gb 1866 ddr3, 8gb 2133 ddr3, gtx 590, vapor x 7970ghz and 2 msi boards. Ive never sold anything off ebay but think $300 for the msi mb, 16gb ram and the 3770k should be a good deal and a 212 plus cpu cooler.
Great review, the single player is fantastic as a whole, and the gameplay itself is just fast, smooth, and furious. Impulse bought it on launch day and was presently surprised.
Honestly the most pure fun I've had with an FPS in forever. I even like the multiplayer - though haven't played it enough (I've only played it a little) to feel it's become repetitive yet. It's a 5 in my book but great review.
imo, yes. The campaign is spectacular, there's plenty of secrets to go back for, multiple difficulties, and the combat is so versatile that you can enjoy every encounter in new ways even after having already had the experience
That song is a variant of that awesome Doom 3 rock track. So awesome, I think it was made by some members of Nine Inch Nails and Marilyn Manson or something like that.
I really want snap map to be MASSIVELY upgraded with more content and tools. Let us create larger more detailed environments with more players allowed to join in the fun. Give us the tools to make full multiplayer maps. I want to fix multiplayer to be more like quake 3 arena. I have some of those tools but not enough. I would love make quake 3 map replicas in snap map.
Did the repetitious level structure bother anyone else? You go into an arena, a door locks you in, kill more or less the same waves of enemies in the same order, rinse and repeat. Maybe if the campaign had some sort of co-op it would have alleviated the repetition.
I can immediately tell you were playing on console due to how slow turning was. Anyway, this is the best shooter in the last few years. It's obviously not as complex as say a Battlefield or Titanfall, but it's simplicity is refreshing and the mechanics are so spot on. I hope we see a few more fast-paced twitch shooters in the next few years like this. Id has definitely still got it.
Absolutely fantastic! I've been a Gametrailers fan for such a long time, it's been my number one go-to place for gaming news and reviews. It's such a joy to see you guys up and running with Easy Allies! Review quality is superb, now i just got to finish Dark Souls 3 before i pick up Doom :)
More than once, I've got a real Metroid Prime feeling with this game! Too bad I only own Nintendo stuff and an old Macbook, I think I'd f-ing love this game! :)
I was actually really gutted when I heard the news that gametrailers was closing down, and was incredibly elated when I heard about Easy Allies. I am still waiting for the top 100 games of all time, I was promised that in gametrailers (it is in the top 100 game trailers of all time video) and I am still holding you guys to that, gametrailers.com or not.
I kinda agree with you, but at the same time, they should ALL be the platform it's meant to be played on. For some games and genres, I can totally understand though (ex: RTS games, Bethesda games, etc.).
+Jef Drouin He never said they were forced dumbass. He said they provide health and having the option constantly in your face pushes you to do them more often, making them break up the combat and become repetitive. Learn some comprehension skills.
4/5 is fair, the only things that hold it back for me are season pass, loading times, and no split screen?(havent tested). I think the glory kills are fine but there could be an option to disable them, same with hack mods wish there was a MP list without them. Best game Ive played in a long time and is probably my favorite fps to date. I only nit pick because I love it xD
Loved this game. 10/10 for me. If I could give it an even better review, it would have to be this: DOOM is the greatest First Person Shooter experience I have had since Half-Life 2.
gotta say i disagree with their view of the gorykills. i agree with ither reviewers that it actually speeds up the pace of the game. when a tough enemy gets staggard you fight like hell to get to him and down him to get your health back. its insanly fun and why all the ads showcase it. rip and tear indeed.
Not enough variety in glory kill animation must've prompted the critique. It should've added context animation as well like Killzone 3 melee kills which adapts the animation with the environment and also brutal its own way.
+The Bowser one I can confirm that on Ultra-Violence difficulty and above, the glory kills are NECESSARY, and you end up desperately trying to string as many of those together as possible. It's not about cosmetics at that point, it's about having even just a full second to relax from constantly dodging demons. And it's actually really fun :O
This is the first place I will go to for reviews. You always cover every single detail, without going on too long about each one. Your scores are always right on the mark, and the narrator is the best in the industry!
Brandon Jones is awesome as well as the whole team. congrats Easy Allies, I finally found the GT team; keep up the awesome work
mikepentop grtynht
This game has one of the most fun single player campaigns I've played in a long time. I'd put it right up there high on my list with Dishonored, Bioshock and Half-Life 2
+Artificialraven i liked wolfenstein new order way more
this game felt like i was playing a challenge map rather a campain
+Doflamingo Donquixote that game was fun, but doom is on another level lol.
Jef Drouin you liked the 2016 doom game?
Love it :-).
Jef Drouin yeah its ok i guess
Wow. Very impressive review.
Kind of reminds me of the quality of Game trailers review.
+Easy Allies That Explains the quality!
Welcome back!
lol so clueless. Couldn't you tell by the voice
Came here to say this, so have a thumbs up!
+Easy Allies Indeed welcome back.
It feels so good to hear your voice again Brandon Jones, since GT closed down.
Much better review than IGN.
I love it how you synchronized the music at 4:05 :D
You guys are Amazing :)
Signs of a good video editor :)
+Beard Almighty Well Brandon edited it, now we know he doesn't just have a radiophonic voice, but also amazing editing skills ;)
+BladeBlurX isnt it ian who does the editing?
Great review. I'm actually surprised you said you kind of got tired of the glory kills, most everyone I talked to thought that they were surprisingly fast, satisfying, and didn't slow down the action.
I refused to watch any DOOM reviews but Easy Allies'. You guys had me waiting but it was worth it. Excellent review as always.
That's why I'm glad to see the old GT team are alive and well :D
Fair score in the end, even though most other games' media treats 80% games as "disappointing". I disagree with your asessment of Glory kills, I think they're an incredible addition to the usual formula and essential in moving the genre forward. The dynamic it creates is almost poetic when faced with a larger number of enemies, as you zip from one target to another as if trying to keep a streak going. In fact, if some sort of scoring and multipliers were part of this game, that'd make perfect sense with this mechanic.
+nsignific also they are 100% optional... I think you even can turn them off...
+KevboardArts you can, looks like they missed that part.
+KevboardArts they are definitely NOT optional! Especially on higher difficulties
They are.
+Khakimzhan if you are good enough they are. there is usually enough armor and health around from my experience...
I just started it of course, went straigh with the hardest mode available, and so far, it seems totally ok without the bonus pickups from glory kills
Doom is my favorite game of 2016 so far. It's so refreshing to have a FPS game that's actually complete at launch.
Huber, again? He's on fire, great reviews.
Yes! You guys are awesome! Glad to have back!
my last 3 games i played.. Ratchet and clank, Uncharted 4 and Doom.. its been a good month. finally getting consistently good games this gen (lets ignore Homefront)
+Pojosamaneo Megaman would be proud
last year was a fantastic year for ps4 games, bloodborne, witcher 3, fallout 4, MGS V, arkham knight, mkx
MABlacksmith Where can I see them? I know they have some of the more recent stuff on the GT TH-cam channel.
Oh man!!! SOOOO cool to hear your voice and watch your reviews again!!! so happy!!
god Jones that edit at 3:07 is insane well done
So good to have you guys back! Hope the EasyAllies project works out and proves sustainable!
Dang, Huber's on a tear with these reviews (pun intended). Burned out yet? Keep up the great work 3.5 stars or not. 😊
Hey Great to hear your voice again Brandon! It feels like the sweet sound of a trusted reviewer. It was missed.
So god damn good to hear Brandons voice again!!
glad to see that gametrailers lives on... you guys always have the best reviews
Goddaaaaaaaaaaamn Brandon I missed your voice, you guys are still kickin, I'm so happy right now, I was afraid of missing you guys and your content in my life, picture me crying with joy :'D
Just discovered you guys were back. Great to hear Brandon's voice again talking about games.
I disagree on the melee kills and you guys basically missed the whole point of them giving you health to encourage aggressive play. You can also unlock a perk that speeds the kill animations up. They flow really well together IMO.
Phenomenal review. Your guy's channel will be huge one day.
I majorly disagree about the glory kills. They never got old and were amazing. I hate the 5 stars thing. Not enough points. I'd give it a 5/5 but a 9.8 out of 10. The game is nearly flawless.

Nice review and all, but I'm just glad I get to hear that awesome reviewer voice again! Glad to have you back, Gametra- er, Easy Allies!
Huber is a reviewing machine. Impressive like always
GT Video reviews were imo the best in the business. It's great to have them back. I subscribed to you guys for that, Thanks :)
Love that you guys are back. Great review.
That game turned out so awesome. Totally loved the campaign.
It's soooooooooooooooooooo good to hear your voice Brandon!
amazing review as always. Guys do not forget to support the team in Patreon!
i never understood why gametrailers was shut down. It was my favorite website. I'm glad i can still hear that voice in a videogame review. That's the voice of videogame reviews!
you guys should definitely start a playlist for all the reviews so far!
+Finalblue1234 They have one! It's on their list of playlists
"...metal soundtrack pumps live into each death." Now thats a fucking line.
Wow, great review Huber, though it felt a bit cut off at the end, like it just finished abruptly
I love your voice, never watched GT in the past.
No wonder everyone likes these type of reviews :D
+ArchieGamez Be sure to check out their podcast so you can get to know them, they're very entertaining and informative.
Jacques Nomdefamille alright thanks!
Good to see you guys are still around, was sad when GT closed down
Honestly, I somewhat disagree about the glory kills getting repetitive if only because they are based on where you look and the angle you are at so if you ever get tired of the ones you are doing you could just look at a different body part, and I played on nightmare, where doing them in the heat of a big battle usually ends up getting you surrounded so you it stops you from stringing them too much.

I've missed that voice. Good to have you back!
+Tomasz Borowiecki They have more shows and stuff on their Patreon page. Check 'em out if you are so inclined.

Good to have you back guys.
Did this dude just say "sarcophagus?" That alone makes this the best review of doom yet!
Not a single Word on the Runes and Upgrades? And i see the GloryKills the opposite. They dont slow down anything and are needed on higher Difficulty.
I'm ready for the expansion. Let's pray they do it up right and market two long-form single player expansion missions
Let's hope ID Software do something similar to Wolfenstein: The Old Blood :D
+NiicoFEAR my thought exactly llol
Very nice review, i'm enjoying the game a lot. Yes, the glory kills slow down the pace of the game, but at least, you can upgrade the armor and one hell runic to make them a lot faster.

James Spader as the voice of a villian in a video game. I wasn't getting this game but now I am.
I have never ever been this early to a video by a popular channel
Great editing. The video feels as powerful as the game.
Great review, the single player is fantastic as a whole, and the gameplay itself is just fast, smooth, and furious. Impulse bought it on launch day and was presently surprised.

IDC about multiplayer.
is it worth iot for singleplayer? I mean like in "Is there replay value after finishing it once"?
imo, yes. The campaign is spectacular, there's plenty of secrets to go back for, multiple difficulties, and the combat is so versatile that you can enjoy every encounter in new ways even after having already had the experience
SotNist thanks alot :)
Props on the gameplay, whoever did it made the game look so good! Other video reviews made it look generic.
That song is a variant of that awesome Doom 3 rock track. So awesome, I think it was made by some members of Nine Inch Nails and Marilyn Manson or something like that.
Which one? The one at the beginning?
This voice is so relaxing takes me back to Gametrailers.!

Great review as always guys! This game really makes me want another Quake III :D
Ya'll just moved over and started again, that's really awesome. Great review!
OMG the review structure is almost exactly like GT's yessss
And also great to see Brandon Jones return

This is the MAD MAX: Fury Road of video games. Classic raw action masterpiece.
There is nothing like these reviews! I'm so happy Easy Allies is a thing.
Excellent review huber!!!
Great review guys!
The multiplayer has nuance on PC.
Finally got round to playing this on PC, soooo good but can't imagine playing it on a controller.
More than once, I've got a real Metroid Prime feeling with this game! Too bad I only own Nintendo stuff and an old Macbook, I think I'd f-ing love this game! :)
superb review! big up guys! :)
Finally we now have a fantastic Wolfenstein and Doom game!
this game has Redbox rental all over it. why release the same month and uncharted and overwatch?
Played it at release in 2016, playing again in 2022. Still just as good.
Huber,Swimming in 4 Stars!
Great review.
I haven't been this surprised by a game's quality since Human Revolution.
Plz bring back top ten

+Jef Drouin He never said they were forced dumbass. He said they provide health and having the option constantly in your face pushes you to do them more often, making them break up the combat and become repetitive. Learn some comprehension skills.
And you can disable them in the option.
Fucking loser.

Great review Huber!
So, 8 out of 10, huh...that's a must by my book (everything that gets "6 and/or more" in my personal rating system, is a must-buy).
the review i was waiting for. So good to see the GT team back and as good as ever.
gotta say i disagree with their view of the gorykills. i agree with ither reviewers that it actually speeds up the pace of the game. when a tough enemy gets staggard you fight like hell to get to him and down him to get your health back. its insanly fun and why all the ads showcase it. rip and tear indeed.

Minutes before Doom Eternal releases... Time to kick this off baby
Such an improvement over the abismal review from IGN...
Michael Huber its hype as always, Awesome review and DOOM is 9.5/10 my score.
n1 review voice
brandon jones is the morgan freeman of video game reviews :)
BRING BACK THE FINAL BOSMAN
+JR Turner Search for "Bosman at Home". It's at Kyle's personal channel.
The soundtrack alone makes this game worth buying.
Can you review total war: warhammer please?
All I heard were critiques and it gets a 8/10?
Best fps campaign in a decade
Fantastic review, great to see an FPS with a truly great campaign
EZA puts out best reviews out there!
