I made these! I used active dry yeast instead of rapidrise since I didn't have it; almond milk mixed with vinegar since I didn't hav buttermilk. Overall, they came out very soft, but I need a whole lot more sugar. So, they weren't near sweet, tasted more like dough rather a biscuit. I will be adding more sugar next time I make these.👍🏾

Ok for all that maybe wondering if you can sub shortening for additional butter..the answer is YES!! They are a cross between Golden Corral rolls and buttermilk biscuits🤤. I made them and they were light, fluffy and absolutely delicious!! Thanks so much for sharing this recipe, my family enjoyed them!!

Made them. Fixing to make my second batch. Can't even tell you how much I love them. Best biscuits and I have grown up eating Biscuits. These are special. I didn't have any butter crisco so I used regular. No big deal. Still fabulous. Make these ; you won't regret it. Double or triple recipe and freeze them in ziplock bags. That's my go to before work breakfast. Heck yeah! Errrrrday!
Did you cook them all and freeze some or did you save some with just the dough and freeze them raw. If you froze some raw how did you cook them after freezing ( oven temperature and time) and did they rise?

These biscuits looked so good I ordered the flour from Amazon, went out and got all of the ingredients...and as a first-time biscuit maker, I failed. Following the ingredients exactly, I created a nice paper mache mixture. I was getting ready to just throw it away until I called my mom and she advised me to add more flour, which I added about another cup...this looks easier than it is. My hats off to you. I love your recipes but you need a little experience to make these biscuits :-). Keep sharing!

I have a recipe for Angel biscuits, that I got from my mom about 50 yrs ago. I like to add shredded sharp cheddar cheese and that really sets them off. I also change up the recipe and add sugar. 1 cup, and roll it out and make cinnamon rolls.
These were grand. I didn’t have buttermilk. Used about 3/4 cup of milk. I didn’t have butter flavored crisco. I’d rather and did use 1/2 stick cold butter, more natural. They were soft, light and yummy. I have never made such a soft bread or biscuit. Cheers. Give them a try. Get your buttermilk first. It would have added to the flavor, but still good..
We tried this recipe yesterday. It was great. We did put ours in the fridge overnight, covered in saran wrap, in a glass, greased baking dish. Popped it right into the oven first thing in the morning. They were delicious. Thanks for sharing!

He Loved them❤️ Thank You ♥️ I had to add more flour when I took the mixture out of the bowl to make biscuits. It was so sticky. It stuck to my board and hands (I hated the texture on my hands). I almost gave up twice but I didn't. I'm glad I stuck out. I just need to figure out what I did wrong.

Just merely mixing the dry yeast into the dry ingredients and then cranking them out will actually change texture. Not quite as much as proofing and rising like you did but it still makes it alot better in terms of flavor/texture. I will just let the dough sit a little while before cutting. I think Hardee’s does something very similar to this hybrid style. Nothing beats an angel biscuit! If you serve with some Conecuh sausage you might just trigger an NDE lol
I used this recipe to recreate the Jimmy Dean egg cheese sausage biscuit roll ups. They turned out great. I freeze them and just heat them in microwave like the frozen ones you buy in the store 👍👍❤
You start these the night before - once cut & covered with plastic wrap put in the refrigerator and in the morning set them in warm place to rise before baking.....it’s how my granny taught me 🥰
Your Granny probably used the active yeast and not the rapid rise yeast; I have seen this recipe done with either, but with the active yeast you do refrigerate overnight
