I figured out how to put the antenna on to by building a clip line, ex: modified 1x2 plate with clip, modified 1x1 stud with bar on top of the back stud, 1x2 curved tile, modified 1x1 plate with clip, rapier attached using 1x1 studs with holes in them on top would position it in the right place and still keep the dome.
yay!! new video! I check your page everyday, also I have a bricklink package arriving tomorrow with parts for me to build 3 of your custom Droidekas! It looks so good. Keep up the good work!!
@@groovybonesnot to push you for uploads or anything, but you said you wouldn't keep us waiting as long next video. Could we get a bit of info on a release week or so?
I’d really like to be able to put out a video every week, but life comes at you pretty fast and I do have a lot of other projects that I need to put first. I really appreciate your support!
Wow, your version of the dwarf spider droid was on point! My two older boys that are obsessed with droids vs clones loved the finished build. We will be getting the parts for at least a few of these! I hope you do all the major droids we see in the films. I love the crab droids but any of the other droids would be awesome to see.
It's a good design. The ting that I would suggest a change for (if possible) are the feet. They are too flat compared to the ones we see in the movie. A pair of cheese grilled slopes might do the trick.
im really really impressed with the moc at the end :) it feels much better representationally than legos current socket telephone droids while still looking playable and not overdesigned enough to fit in with other 1p lego sets :)
We both came to a similar conclusion with our Dwarf Spider Droid MOCs! The OG was such a cool design, and nailed the ball shape almost perfectly! - Hopefully later down the line lego makes a dome piece with a stud on the top of it!
My boys loved your custom Destroyer Droid and Spider Droids so much we got the parts for both and made them both for their droid armies. I would love to see your versions of the Vulture Droid and the Crab droid. You have a real knack for making properly Minifig scales versions of these droids that are WAY better than the official ones.
I hate how I agree so much more with your design then with my own, now I gotta rip my brain child apart for the single among us piece in dbg I have and the one lbg dome I have. Great build tho! love to bulk up my droid army!
These videos are excellent, this is the most accurate design I've seen that is th closest to scale. I hope you mak more of these comparison videos with improved designs
Woah! Your design is so good! I only have 2013 dwarf droid, and i was not a great fan of it, but i was just like... yeah... a free mini build that comes with the big spider? The only thing i'm a bit skeptical is the anthena... i wish there was a way to put it over the dome on your design.
I need more of these, the builds are so good and the discussion about the current builds Lego has is interesting Personally, I’d love to see your take on an AT-RT that’s more mini-figure accurate in terms of scale.
Lego needs to hire you to design their minifig-scale druids! At the very least, as a freelancer . . . Also, I can think of one way to get the antenna in the middle, but it's definitely an illegal building method. Step 1: Find a way to get the center marked out Step 2: VERY CAREFULLY using a pin vise drill and PCB bits like you'd use for 40K modeling, drill out a tiny hole from the inside>out Step 3: Graduate to larger and larger bits, using the pilot hole from the outside>in until the hole is *just* large enough to allow the tip of the antenna bit to barely sneak through. Step 4: After that, it's just a matter of stacking a few studs inside the dome with the antenna on top, carefully slipping the dome over, and wham bam thank you ma'am, you've got the perfect Dwarf Spider Droid!
I love that costum droideka and dwarf spider you made! really impressive! I hope we can see more videos like this in a future, maybe Probe Droid would be next?
love the final build, i remember seeing that 3x3 dome brick from the lego movie 2 sets used in dark bluish grey somewhere, could potentially be good for keeping both the orb shape and the antenna on top, i might have to try that out and see which design i prefer
My favorite is the 2008 version (second from the left that came with the Hailfire Droid). It's such a cool looking build. Your's is by far the best though.
I need some spider builds but don't have any ball joints, also I noticed you're following TolarianCommunityCollege! Very cool to see someone else share my 2 favorite hobbies!
I thought it was gonna be too wide but this hits the nail on the head. I think MAYBE the canon is too long id probably use one of the old flick fire pieces as the canon instead. Otherwise its really good
“Been a while, promise I won’t make you wait like that again until the next time” Bro didn’t even wait a video before doing that to us again. Come back to us we need the goods.
Alright explanation for where the foil pack droids come from: In the majority of Europe there are lego magazines and they release monthly with little foil bag sets having 50 peices average and they have been going on since about 2015! They've never been a gift with purchase or in a newspaper they are ONLY availible with the lego star wars magazines
Thank you for this! My knowledge of the foil packs boiled down to: - from Europe. - came with some sort of print media. And then I just didn’t bother doing any more research. My brain just filled in the gaps with “When you buy The Guardian they give you a Mandalorian polybag.”
I hope you're going to do more videos. My son's love your custom versions of droids. Do you think you could do a crab droid from RotS? In any case, I hope you're well and still planning to do more on this channel.
Your DSD-1 dwarf spider droid could be an official design as I see no connections that stress bricks so your build is a perfectly legal Lego design and so could potentially become an official design
i love your build. but do you have a version that has the telephone part for the eyes like the common lego version of it? i feel a sense of nostalga from the part being used that way
I wonder if its possible to use the curved droid arm pieces to try and be flush against the central orb. If they can, maybe there's a way to have them go up the outside of the orb and meet at the very top of it to mount an antenna? I feel like its possible, but doing it without having it be too obtrusive could prove to be a challenge.
HK 47 minifigure scale please, he's Darth Revan's assassin droid from the old republic. It would be nice to make one to go along with the Darth Revan minifigure :)
i have the droid models and every one comes with a mini fig of the model. all but not the imperial probe droid. i would like to see a better than lego build .
I stopped drinking my body weight in liquid cheese to come watch this
Another banger, great vid, Sam
If no one else got me, I know Casey got me. 🙏
I read this wrong…so horribly 😭
@@442nd What did you read it as? I've been trying to figure out how to misread it for a min and I can't see it lol

Oh that custom droid is so good. I have to build one of those.

Sweet build. Loved your take on representation vs recreation
would love a video covering the STAP!!
Definitely on the list!

lego star wars TH-camr that makes videos about building from lego. What an awesome content
The custom one looks great! It would be perfect if lego just made a dome piece with a stud on top :P
Wow I remember that hailfire droid set as a kid- definitely one of my favourites. Absolute nostalgia video

I highly recommend IN_Verse’s spider droid on Rebrickable, it has that orb shape but still achieves the antenna on top!

Absolutely! I loved your rendition of the DSD1 as well!
I would be tempted to drill a hole in the dome and poke the antenna through that way...
Would a 4x4 round plate with a dish piece on top be able to work on the top and then allow the antenna to be mounted to the top?
Could you do one of micro fighters? I remembered the series of micro fighters with little displays and planets.
