@Free Speech All I know is what she tells us. Clearly, she blew him off first but came back to him when "whatever" went to cr@p, ... back to her "castaway" like he should be thrilled. Why would anyone want to commit to someone who didn't see them as their soulmate the first time around?
I've always said it's a waste of time to try and make it again with anybody you couldn't make it with in the first place. Old feelings of resentment, distrust or "whatever" will still be there preventing a successful, blissful relationship.

Elizabeth Booth sometimes people ghost for safety reasons. When you first meet somebody and you think everything is great because they love bomb you and then they text you and when you don’t respond fast enough they’re pissed that you weren’t responding and then accuse you of things that you didn’t even do and you hardly know this person and they have bahaved like this....Sometimes ghosting is an absolute necessity.

Britany B Totally agree! If someone is abusive and you’ve just met them or they stalk text because they think you haven’t responded fast enough and they are angry or drunk that’s it for me. There’s nothing to say at that point. I wasted too much time too on those types thinking it was my fault.

You can get ghosted in a friendship too, it's not always a romantic relationship.

@@thembicosta4394 I've recently been ghosted by one of my best friends of over 10 years. I even asked what I have done and the answer was nothing, just that we're both busy. Might I mention no busier than ever. Oh well.
@@lokisfriend ....The same thing happened to me about 40 years ago and it still saddens me when I think about it. All relationships have expiration dates but sometimes it's best not knowing the reasons and just accept the loss. Their purpose for being in our lives has been fulfilled.

Me too ... 25 year friendship. No explanation, no confrontation, no fighting. I noticed a behavior change in her towards me as I became more and more successful.. She had become condescending and negative about my advancements in my business..I would ask her, is there something going on? Had I done something to upset her? She'd always say, no..everything is fine. But, then the ghosting started. She completely cut me off from any invites to get togethers, etc. and then just completely cut me out of her life! I was so devastated! I'm still so hurt, healing is slow. I loved her like a sister. It's been 3 years ...I'm still not over it!

@@Mitsubachi2529 sometimes you never know who is an abuser. I ghost someone 5 years ago, and I am so happy. He never took me to his home, and always had some excuse why he couldn't. I don't want to get into graphics, but I believe he was homosexual or bisexual. I ghost him. 5 years later, I heard he died. Now, what if I would have continued that relationship? Maybe I would be dead too.(aids)

Some of the best advice ever given to me is to always make sure you can financially take care of yourself.
I'm sure people ghosted each other in the 1500's, 1600's and so on. It was probably even easier without cellphones and social media.

@@JJmetaphysics I can agree many people never look into themselves,i was ghosted twice and it forced me to look within, and i realized I was too emotional and i handled stress in a horrible way,i become irrational, argumentative,controlling it wasn't pretty. Then i realized maybe they dodged a bullet and am a horrible woman. So i didn't disturb them again. I cant love people selfishly,the only person i could control is myself. Love is a beautiful thing and i pray that everyone who experiences it in it's fullest potential appreciate what they have.

Ghosting someone who is in a serious relationship with you or engaged to you is horrible I don’t understand how someone can be so cruel all it takes is 2 mins to break up with someone or even less. I actually proposed to my husband years after I had said no to his.. I figured that he deserved that so I did it in front of our all our family and friends. It was incredible!
I think it’s ALWAYS a good idea to wait until man proposes or to leave him alone if you tired of waiting. Men are extremely difficult to settle down these ways, most of them are scared of commitment. You being ready doesn’t make him ready. And if you do propose do it in private so it makes it easier for him to refuse. He said yes not to make you AND your girls feel disappointed.
Same goes for women too. My friend refused her boyfriend’s proposal 2 times and now says she wants to end it all.... I feel sorry for her now ex boyfriend, but maybe he can finally move on and find someone better.
Got ghosted by a guy that was in the Navy...fast forward to 4 years later he found me on social media. He was homeless and living in his car/hotel. Gave me a sob about how he needed somewhere to stay for a few weeks...Be mindful of how you treat people.

I listened his sob story and referred him to a few shelters... This genius was saying he is homeless, but at least I'm homeless with a Jaguar...he was a lost cause.
I got ghosted after a 5 month relationship but it was,the best thing ..
I got ghosted by a man I had known for 16 years previously. We started a relationship and within a month he ghosted. When I finally got ahold of him he said "it just didn't feel right". Well why not just say so? We are now arms length friends and I know he regrets it but no second chances. It's a character flaw.

Some people just do not like explaining. I, for instance, live in my own, individually standing house, before leaving i always check that there is no across the road neighbour getting in their car or just hanging around. I just can not stand to make an eye contact and say hi. We have never had any problems or negativity, just hi and bye. When it is unavoidable. I m happily nmarried with 3 grown up children, so not like i m some sort of a hermit. Just do not like contact with people. Always go for self check out cash register. Never shop at any market

Ghosting isn't just dating, its friends or business contacts also or just anyone in your life. I had a close friend who ghosted me for half a year and then suddenly tried to come back as if nothing really happened. It's one thing if they sent me a message saying "hey I'm not happy with such and such that you've done and I think we need to be apart for a bit or stop being friends" but they just blocked me on everything with no hint of why. Then they come back and expect me to just act like nothing happened. I was friends with this person since childhood which is why it's so weird. I decided not to do the same back to them and tell them I had a major issue with what they did and that if they were unhappy with me they should have at least made me aware of the problem when they knew me for this long. Can't believe adults do this sort of thing.
I know exactly how she feels.. when you find the person you loved is not who you thought he is, it`s like you`re mourning their death.
I have "ghosted" (distanced myself) from a few friends in my life. If they give it some thought they'll know why I did it. It's usually the condescending behavior or the backhanded compliments. Some people just don't deserve second chances.
Then I ghosted my sister I forgive her but I can’t do that to my life my life is precious to me I don’t want negatives around me

I got ghosted by my husband of 4 years.. of every day being with this person. We never have been separated at all. He was a narcissist. I learned a lot about narcissism and toxic people.

Ghosting destroys you, my partner of 20 years done this to me when he went off with someone we both knew. I know I’m better off without him in my life but 4 years later I’m still haven’t come to terms with what he’s done or how he could do it.

This happened to me. Not the ghosting, the faking being ill. He told me he had cancer and needed to have treatment and didn’t want me to see him going through it etc . I was tipped off and went to his place. He was back with his WIFE!!!!

I'm kind of suspicious that he may have been getting some revenge. She dumped him after his proposal? You'd be surprised, even adults will go through some effort to get revenge when they've been hurt that bad. I've seen people do it. I recently had a friend who made her ex fall in love with her only to get revenge on him. It was shocking to see her bother with all this but I guess she was really hurt. Life's too short for this kind of stuff though.

@@cloudy1164 That's a bit extreme. It's not distasteful it's just not tradition. Like I wouldn't propose to a guy but I don't think it matters if a woman does. I think it ruins the tradition and romanticism of it a bit though. For me it's not so much that I'm the woman, it's more that I don't want to marry someone unless they are the ones pushing for it because I don't want to marry someone who felt pressured into it.
When you leave for 3 years you can't expect anything. I had a girlfriend that dumped me to date an aquaintence. 5 years later after she had been turned inside out and stomped on she got back ahold of me and was all about what a mistake that was and how she really loved me and how that would never happen again. I told her I would try to get beyond it. A couple years later I was not over it and told her I am just not feeling as forgiving as I thought I might. She immediately ghosted me and was married within the year. When you have seperated from someone for some time don't ever expect things to be what you thought they were in the beginning from either side of the street.

I have watched some of those videos but most of the ones I saw were angry men talking about using and manipulating women. People in general tend to be manipulative these days regardless of gender. Doubt in the early 90's MGTOW was even thought of as a movement. I have since studied manipulating tactics and have some recogintion of toxic people in general. Seems the best advice yet is don't ignore your gut feeling about a person. The hair on the back of you neck rises for a reason.

I've been the ghostee and the ghoster it's not a nice thing to do. when I ghosted someone, I eventually apologized because I felt so bad about doing that. No one deserves that.
people that ghost in any kind of relationship romantic or otherwise are total childish cowards. If you dont want to carry on with a romance or friendship TELL THEM! At least respect that person by giving them an explanation and closure! so that they can move on.

My husband did this to me I was ghosted right after loosing our home pets and belongings, I'm saying we literally lost absolutely everything from one moment to another, I was devastated to say the least. He left the hotel room at around 11pm before he left he said "i just want to be myself; this is too much for me" took his clean clothes i washed for him that day and walked out that door, i honestly thought he was coming back for us (us meaning my daughter from a previous relationship, that he raised since she was 9months old, this was in 3/2018 so she was about 8yrs old already). He didn't come back knowing full and well that we were completely dependant on him i was unemployed no money no friends no family no food no water no NOTHING it was so cold and we where hungry thirsty tired, we ended up being homeless to the fullest extent of the word. Our first night sleeping in the street was at a Walmart parking lot right across the street from that hotel; where he threw us away like a piece of trash. (Im getting emotional with the memory) It was the hardest thing i don't wish it to my worst enemy 😔

I'm so sorry this happened to you and your poor daughter , to have brought her up since 9 months old and to essentially abandon her and her mother is really, really traumatic. You didn't do anything to deserve that. Neither of you did. I hope you're doing better now.

Happened to me in 1992 and engaged. I hurt so much and took me until a couple years ago to let go of the pain. I thought the rejection meant I was the problem. He was. He was a coward and couldn't end it like a grown up
It can also be ghosting if a boyfriend or girlfriend stops all contact for days or weeks and suddenly appears back in your life without apology or a very weak one.
That's called a red flag.

I think we've all walked away from an association of one sort or another without much or any warning, however, dumping someone during an engagement is despicable. OMG, but to fake his own death and get his adult son also involved in the deceit! She dodged a bullet....he did her a HUGE favor, however painful. This guy has a very serious mental problem---likely a psychopath---which is better to discover before marriage than after.
I agree. I don't know about this man but everyone should study or read about sociopaths or psychopath . They usually start off extremely charming but then start to give subtle clues.

I got ghosted by a former college friend. But in this case, I feel like it was the best she could do at the time. She might have been worried about saying something that would hurt me. So she just disappeared. I accepted it. There were things about her that i had overlooked, so now that she was gone, i was a bit relieved
She got her PhD and he was not good enough so she turns down his proposal. Then her career plans didn’t work out, which included a “better” father figure for her daughters (which she admitted was priority for her) so she rekindled the relationship with her rejected lover. He decided it was payback time, and with his ex safely in the marital bag he ghosts her. I don’t think she’s the victim.

Simply not true. I’m happily married to the same guy for 40 years. He’s never let me down. Not because he’s just SO IN LOVE with me. But because he’s just a fantastic human being. If he wasn’t happy, he’d tell me, and we’d figure out what to do about it. I hope we’re together forever, but only if we’re both happy together, because he’s the best person I’ve ever know, and he deserves happiness.

Count yourself lucky. He showed his true colours- your lucky you found out early and can move on now. Some people don't find out he's cheating until it's too late- he apparently has been cheating the whole time and you didn't see the signs. He was using you all the time. Goodness knows how many women he was cheating with.
Ghosting someone is the most immature, cowardly, and disrespectful act anyone can commit! It is Wrong in every sense, it doesn't matter how one tries to analyze it! It certainly is a GINORMOUS reflection of the individual's character, and only that individual's. Someone with these character traits has a deep need for healing. Something is far out of balance, out of equilibrium, emotionally, and mentally. Atleast, that's how it appears to me.
I was ghosted recently by someone I had known for 40 years ......for me it was over in a flash. I felt abandoned but that cut my connection with him permanently.....there is at background to this too long to explain.....I think too much of myself to cry or loose lose sleep. He showed his true character
I ghosted a friend of mine from high school because I saw that the friendship was one sided and I was tired of her fuckery of never having my back when it came down to certain things, so one day I unfollowed her on all social media and when she texted me I simply didn't answer. She finally got the hint and a week later sends me a text saying that she sees what's going on but says she doesn't care for our friendship anyway and "wishes me the best of luck". Still to this day I am happy that she's out of my life because now there is no more drama.
This happens more then you would think. My ex lead a double life and told his second girlfriend he had Lunge cancer and told me his aunt had Brest cancer so we would cancel our vacation. We also had an apartment together and he wanted to have two kids, fortunately I didn’t want kids.
Sounds like a dysfunctional relationship from start to finish. No judgment...I’ve been there in my own way.

I have seen this both ways with a relative and friends. Sometimes you don't want the drama especially if your the one who has done most of the giving. If I have done the majority of the giving and have done the best I can then I can move on with a clear conscience. I am learning to leave energy vampires behind and love myself more.
Very true and if they are the ones that ghosted you then you don’t need to feel guilty. I told this guy that I like that I will never leave him but if he ghosts and leaves me then it is his fault and choice. I told him from the beginning that anything he does is his choice. I cannot control him.

He probably was hurt when he did everything for her, like leaving work to dig her car out of the snow, and in return she rejected his marriage proposal and broke off with him and then moved away. She didn't seem to realize what she did to him before. The deception made him feel whole again.

😒 Well I was definitely ghosted 30 years ago, but back then it didn't have a name. I actually saw him in the street several months later and confronted him. I didn't actually mind that he wanted to end it, but thought him extremely pathetic for the way he did it. If you want to break things off, then telling that person either face to face, or over the telephone is the best way. Texting or ghosting is the cowards way out.
Ghosted 40 years ago, 1982! A year after, he wrote this pathetic letter basically saying it was all my fault, the words "I'm sorry" never making an appearance. I didn't write back.

For longterm yes it won't work, but if the ultimate goal is to close the distance then yes it works. I have friends happily married to their partners and they all started with LDR.
I know everyone behaves differently in traumatic situations but I really don't like the fact that she's laughing so incessantly about this issue. It's like she gets enjoyment out of the attention of her own drama. It's kind of disturbing how giddy she is.

Yep sounds like my story in a lot of ways. 7 yrs, marriage license, my soulmate, and he left Oct 2020 and I have not come close to recovering. And like you, I am mourning the life we never had, not as good as yours was..just empty promises..no nice get away weekends or anything. You are in disbelief with your situation like I still am with mine.
I ghosted my partner of 15 years in 2020. We had been together since basically highschool. We had lived together several times before, went to college together and spent every week together. I met a guy in 2019 and realized I wanted to be with a man instead of a woman and didn't have strength to break up with her. I had tried before and each time she cried and was devastated, stopped eating, etc. I didn't know what to do and took the coward's way out. I stopped answering her calls, stopped responding to texts, blocked her on social media and moved. I am now very happy with my partner, and also feel very guilty that I didn't have the character to end things formally. I just somehow feel like her being ghosted is easier on her feelings rather than me telling her I didn't love her like that. I think I'd rather be ghosted than someone tell me they don't love me. Ghosting is cowardly but it also sends the same message a breakup does---with less words and less sting. I still am ashamed of what I did.

Does no one see a problem with her first words in describing the relationship as "he was the most dependable man I'd ever met.??" That's a strange way to describe your fiance off the bat. Not the man I loved or the guy of my dreams, but the most dependable 🤔. Sounds like a problem right there... what he did was trash tho.
So called friends have done this to me. People I've known...well thought I've known since I was 8.
I don't understand how someone can go from being close enough to be family, to behaving as if we never knew eachother or had anything in common.

Some people are hard to deal with, it can be intimidating to give them information they dont want to hear. There may be signs that they would create an interminable fight, harass, or strike with real harm as a result. We have all seen cases of that, so it's not always a minor thing to just "tell" someone. This lady seems nice but I'd like to hear his side too. I did see the comment where she thought she found someone better but then got in contact with him again afterward, and I wonder if he just felt like the 'dependable' second choice for a woman looking primarily to fill practical needs. Perhaps he made a mistake agreeing to see her again and then found it challenging to find a way out, especially if he was a more submissive type. That may not be the story at all, of course, but it is sometimes uncomfortable to not hear complete circumstances from all sides.

what was happening I was in the front seat of a car between two guys.
I have social anxiety disorder and this was a nightmare. Suddenly the
drive took a sharp corner and threw me into the other guy who put the
moves on me by offering me his hand. I gave him a wet noodle hand and
he withdrew. and the three people in the backseat were laughing out
loud. He never spoke to me for the rest of the year. It was a small
college of about 100 students and we had all our meals together.
Three years later I attended grad and he still would not even say
hello. I just wanted an exchange so 20 years later I wrote him a
letter....no response, thought I sent it to the wrong guy. Saw him on
the web last week(40 yrs later) sent him an email. We exchanged
emails...he mentioned the letter, he has no memory of that night but
apologized and hoped I had learned something from the experience. You
bet I did I learned that even people training to be ministers at
seminary can be flaming narcissists.Turns out he is not only a
narcissist he is a gay narcissist.
