@@benjaminsolomon3918 technically there is no such thing as nuguni dna there is really no such thing as khoi DNA. Coloureds are more likely to have less African DNA than "Ngunis" as you call them. Some Coloureds (not all) share the maternal haplogroup of L0 which is exclusive to Black African women and many khoi women have this haplogroup. However, Coloureds generally do not carry the A0 Black African male haplogroup that most khoi men do, because your forefathers were white Europeans. @@RenzelYoung Well for starters the Khoi and San tribes are two separate tribes that both still exist. If you ever notice people of South Africa tend to talk about them as if they do not exist. For instance, you will see throughout this thread people saying they are descendents of Khoi and San people, but the Khoi and San people are literally still alive as tribes in various parts of Southern Africa. I believe some San people may be in parts of East Africa as well (don't quote me on that). It is somewhat a long and maybe even complicated thing to explain, but in short, Khoi and San people are Indigenous Black Africans and have tribes in mostly Southern Africa. Coloureds are mixed race individuals who have Black, White, and/or Asian ancestry. Some of the Coloureds have ancestry from the khoi and/or San people, but they are not the Khoi and/or San people. The khoi and San people are members of a khoi or San tribe that speak the language, practice the customs, rituals, culture, and/or religion of that respective tribe. Tribes are not solely based on bloodline. Hope this helps. I'm trying not to be too winded.

The Khoisan and the Mbuti are the oldest people in Africa. And it is true that nobody fights for or with them. But, that is true of all indigenous cultures in Africa. Everyone of our indigenous languages are disappearing from Cape Town to Cairo and that is because the modern colonial state and its priorities does not include indigeneity. Ironically, the colonial reservations and restoration work is mostly focused on the Disney animals but not humans. We can not be fully African without our ancestors. And, the Khoisan is a big part of that.

okay here's the thing , the divide and conquer strategy is best exhibited in the landmass we call south africa ... we have hung on to the narrative the invaders gave us that when they got here we were all these so-called tribes that we call ourselves by today , thus were already a divided people , when the truth is though there were diverse cultures , dialects(which we call languages) , expressions , etc. , we were one people ...
the native term for the peoples the invaders called "khoi" here in NINGIZIMU(so-called south africa) is BATWA , which has the same etymology as the word BANTU , showing we are the same people .
even the term MITOCHONDRIAL EVE is a western term used to further shy us away from the fact that we are the same people , as it makes BATWA a different people from all other native peoples of the landmass we call africa .
our phenotypes , unlike caucasians/mongoloids/arabs , never defined the essence of our being , so to distinctly separate peoples based on how they look in what our invaders did/do , but seems we tend to do it ourselves now , saying things like "...based on their looks they seem to have been related to the khoi..." etc. i mean if that was the case , the mongoloids , peoples we call asians today , like chinese/koreans/thai/etc. , they would also call themselves as related to the khoi as Mandela because they share physical features ...
i have always known and been proud of my BANTU/BATHO/BATWA/VHANU heritage , not because of what was taught to me by systems of our invaders , but the combination of tales from all my peoples , melanated peoples , who are one people ,.. so if one is ancient , we are all ancient , if one is the ancestor of all , then we are all ancestors of all , etc. and that is how we should address such issues , AS ONE ...
all these tribes we like to hang on to and identity with , we forget most were formed when invasions by our invaders started , so they will never be a true reflection of who we were , let alone who we are .

The Khoisan people are indigenous Black Africans, and I have evidence to support this claim. The numerous rock paintings found in Southern Africa, specifically in Namibia, Zimbabwe, Botswana, and South Africa (also known as Mzansi), date back to the BC era. For instance, the village of Murewa, 100km northeast of Harare in Zimbabwe, features Khoisan rock paintings. Similarly, these rock paintings can be found in Botswana, Namibia, and Mzansi. Those painting are 10000 years old.. The khoisan where nomadic people
Furthermore, the presence of clicks in Xhosa and Zulu languages indicates a connection with the Khoisan language. This suggests a unity and cultural exchange between the groups. It's important to note that invaders or colonizers rarely adopt the language and culture of the conquered people. Instead, they often impose their own.
Let's examine the facts and consider the significance of the Khoisan people in Southern Africa's history and culture.

There's also a need for those Khoisan who prefer to be coloured to begin to reclaim their language and culture and their connection with the rest of the people. If you have lived in Cape Town you will have noticed a severe social rift between coloured and black people, a rift that is in fact not present in other areas such as the Transkei simply because people who would be regarded coloured in Cape Town consider themselves black and African there.

Xhosa and Tswana have exactly the same features as the Khoi and San but you will hear someone from Cape Town who looks Asian say they are Khoi San but can't speak any of the African languages and also looks nothing like Khoi or San. In fact Africa as a whole, we are all connected and share the same DNA. Most people in this country are so obsessed about how dark or light your skin is and forget about the bigger picture. Most of the people in the coloured community claim to be Khoi San and it is only them who can say South Africa is their land but if we can all do a DNA test in South Africa and Africa as a whole, they will find out that they have the lowest percentage of Khoi or San in their DNA compared to the everyone, and most will not even have anything linking them to Africa but everything linking them to Europe or Asia. We have to talk about these things to go forward, that is why it is always important that we love one another as Africans and stop hating one another, we should also never forget about our brothers and sisters in the Caribbean, South and north America, Asia and alos Europe. This self hate can only result in xenophobia and all other nonesense while the enemy is benefitting.

I support her general sentiment on the struggle of the indigenous people of this planet. However, we must try to stay away from the term "Khoisan". There never was a Khoisan people, but rather The Khoe Khoe and the San. The term was created by a racist German who paraded as scientist during the days of South West Africa, where the Germans used his "science" to commit the genocide against the Nama and Herero people of Namibia.

    • @Gerrard_7up

Actually the term Khoi-San is a simple abbreviation .
Khoi short for khoikhoi , meaning men of men .
      The Khoi named the bushmen
They called them Sanqua , meaning the men with nothing hence the abbreviation San .
The Khoi also named the Bantu newcomers from across the great river .
The brutal encounters led to near genocidal attacks , the Khoi eventually named them Xhosa , meaning the violent angry people .

"Khoe-san" is an amalgamation denoting both the Khoe and San people. Both ancient people who are grouped together because of their adjacent and overlapping history. "Khoisan" is a European misappropriated term created as an amalgamation of tribes based on language similarities, much how Bantu is done the same way. These terms actually speak to similarities in languages i.e. language groupings. The Europeans believed or still believe that you can trace one's historical origins based on language and shared commonalities within them, i.e. linguistics. This is why so many Coloured South Africans incorrectly label "Bantu" speaking people as West Africans when there are no or little to no Bantu speakers in West Africa. The man who coined the term Khoisan sought to make the Khoi and San one tribe, which as you can see from the comments and many videos, he did to a great degree.

You've completely missed the mark here. I'm not even sure if what you're spewing qualifies as English. Let's rewind to 2003 when they decided to dissect gene sequences. Suddenly, we're talking about a group of Xhosa people, or rather, let's not call them Bantu because, surprise, we never referred to ourselves as such; that term was conveniently coined by Europeans. Lo and behold, they stumbled upon a Bushman gene within what they so graciously labeled as 'Bantu.' Oh, and let's not forget those benevolent left-wing whites who decided to champion the cause of the Khoi people. Not because they genuinely cared about the Khoi, mind you, or because they suddenly had an epiphany that their ancestors didn't exactly engage in consensual relations with them. Nope, they simply wanted to score some moral high ground points.
Now, let me emphasize this for the ones in the back who seem to have cotton wool in their ears: those claiming to be Khoi, well, they've got more European blood coursing through their veins than a true black Khoi person would ever have. A genuine Khoi individual wouldn't even have a trace of Caucasian genes. And let's not be naive enough to think that the gene pool of the Khoi, with their kinky hair resembling that of other black Africans, was exclusively Khoi. Even if we entertain the notion that the Khoi were here first, let's face it: they were mere wanderers, while the black Natufians, or what some folks like to call 'bantu,' were the pioneers of agriculture in these parts. The hunter-gatherers among us were simply nomads, never settling in one place for too long. The “bantu”, on the other hand, were the masters of animal husbandry, establishing settlements and thriving communities. Roughly 2000 years ago, we farmed the grain we have the oldest proof of working the land suppose to just hunting it, we were the first who knew the value of the land Khoi can claim land on game resorts and these are black peoples by the way that many of you are trying to unblack not because you love them.
So, let's set the record straight: those who merely traversed the land without tilling it cannot lay claim to territory they never truly cultivated. They were nothing more than transient visitors, treating the land like a holiday destination rather than a home. We work the land a huge difference.

There is no such thing as a 'Khoi-San.' Maybe start by decolonising outdated Eurocentric African history. 'San' are the oldest cultures and lineages on the planet, they once lived in all continents. But not the 'Khoi' who are a different grouping. And like the rest of Africa these peoples are all divided into tribes/ethnic groups or clans each with their own peculiar history.
On what basis should reserve the term 'indigenous' EXCLUSIVELY for them? Africa is one, and our ancestors were constantly moving around the continent for thousands of years before these modern borders existed. There are only two valid divisions in this context 1.Those indigenous to Africa, 2. Those indigenous to other continents i.e. Europeans an Asians.
In my opinion, the entire 'Khoi-San' controversy in South Africa has NEVER been about them at all, but a power struggle between European descendents and their proxies vs indigenous 'black' Africans. Divide and conquer. Otherwise, all marginalised groups regardless of ethnicity/tribe/race need to be given a voice.

As an African, we come in different shades, some of us are short and some very tall. Some very dark complexion and some very light skinned. Most of us are a combination of the above too. One thing we can't disagree is our hair texture. There is also our children who are a mixture of us and Arab/Semitic people the cushites people. We have been around from the beginning of time. We love our coloured children too. African people always loves anyone with our genetics. Sadly colonialism caused us to be divided, wake up Africa. It is time to heal. The one thing we Africans have failed miserably on is the power of loving our neighbours 😢

There is a genetic study that found Khoisan admixture in Igbo people (who now live in West Central Africa). They said they obtained the Sans' DNA 9,000 years ago, somewhere in Western Sahara. Which gives us a hint that perhaps the Sans probably lived in Northern Africa.

All indigenous black Americans come from Namibia/Israel which was known as Enki Yahuah land were he left the Anunaki people who are known as Olmecs but today they are known as Damara people or Khoi,so many wars happend against them but no one talks about that ,they ruled the whole southern region in 1500s,Jerusalem was also in Namibia but they erased from maps, just as Nato wanted to erase Khoisan groups from existence,Germany never colonize Namibia but it was under Enki's order to protect Khoisan people, and those tribes that entered the land and tried to Take over the land were supported by NATO and they came and recruit young man to fight in Angola but as soon as they would leave towns they were killed and thrown into huge graves that's how they won the war because fighting my people head on their army's would have been destroyed completely many think we don't know our own story,it goes back to Adaima Zep-Tepi.

It’s hard for people to go beyond what they have been fed by their masters… in a battle who lives to tell the tale? Who story will it be anyway? … the Mpondomise Xhosa tribe they are known to be ithole lo Mthwakazi and in Zimbabwe the Ndebele are on the land of uMthwakazi… obviously it is not the Khoisan people!!! How come is it that out of the entire SA population the Xhosa people are the only ones whose language is close to the Khoisan people? What about the rest of the Nguni house? Why is there no trace of their culture? Then their king presented himself in a Zebra skin yet in Africa they totem for all our royals is the lion…. Listen to your oral traditions and history… follow your bloodline through totems, clan names and poetry- always remember that black people owned the entire globe and the Khoisan are principal ancestors of Asians (the original black Asians) and they are not the only people who have been around for long… modern history begins with the birth of Jesus… we predate that and the Khoisan people too!!

    I say this as SAns:
The sad part we acknowledge as descendants but we do not care about the culture, and the language. Don't want to be called African/ black surprisingly because it's an African tribe, decolonise the mind, some laugh at the people because they still live as they did and call it uncultured and they look like them. Saw it with my own eyes in Springbok in the Northern Cape. Note that khoisan ancestors were everywhere in South Africa, WC, EC, NC, KZN not one people can gatekeep and tell another you not. Some try to remove all traces and features by interracial relationships with other races, relax our hair and call ourselves anything but the people. Like its a shame. The leaders/chiefs themselves are divided, tribalism, there is greed for government incentives etc., they don't even try to instill the culture or even leading by example speak the languages but speak Afrikaans or other vernaculars. How can you say speak to the Nama while your home is SA. Let's start with basics, teach and speak the language, be proud of your identity as Africans, accept the history, look after the people especially because of social economic issues in the community, yes culture ivolves but sustain it and live it. Than teach it to South Africa and the world. No one from anywhere will come to do it for you. Unite as a nation.
