Alas, Sara died in April of 2012. I miss her greatly and I remember her fondly when I watch the video. She new when it was time to take my pictures and always ran outside to pose. I'm glad I kept her in the pictures and didn't shoo her away.
Can you comprehend that someone spent 5 years just making this 1 minute video you just watched? Sometimes I feel kinda sad it takes people giant chunks of a lifetime to work on something that will usually be greatly overlooked. I know there's not much more to do with it but like the video, but there are so many, countless of lives dedicated to making their videos, or as in my case - songs, to little or no appreciation. Just made me think out loud. Barely anyone will get it but there's no harm in posting the thought anyway. Spend a moment to appreciate some of the people who bring you this content, TH-cam isn't TV, many of those "non-viral" people don't get paid and don't get anything out of entertaining you, so at least like their videos and leave a nice comment.
Blight GT I only took pictures once a week, so that wasn't so hard. And you are right, editing the pictures does take the longest. I'm hoping that sometime before I'm finished someone creates a program to do that automatically.
***** I'm baffled how you thought that was negative. I actually completely agree with him, along with 26 other people. Think about it, this took 5 years. I don't hate this video in any way, but making this was probably a waste of time; considering it did not receive much credit to what it was worth. Why would you call himself a "lame musician"? Don't let ignorance get the ahead of you; that's rude. He didn't try to offend anyone.
Sara was the main dog you see in the videos. We did get a black dog for a while. Sara died earlier this year. I married and now have two more dogs that will appear in future videos.
I do not consider myself an arborist as much as I consider myself a historian. I try to capture the steady flow of events that effected my life. When my in-laws lived in the house pictured, they had a passion for the yard. In later pictures after my divorce, not in the video, the yard doesn't look so good. The tree still grows, but so does the grass. This video captures the struggle my in-laws had keeping the lawn healthy when we had a dog that loved to lay in the same place all the time.
"photographic obsession".... I like that. That's an incredibly accurate description. The dog, Sara, always seems to know when I am taking my pictures and runs out to lay on the lawn. For a while, that bothered me, then I thought, she is just as much a part of change as the tree growing. So, I stopped chasing her away. Thanks for looking, thanks for commenting. LL
I just don’t get why people disliked the video. The title matches the video so what were you expecting? Flying unicorns? The dog exploding? What did you want. This video to 5 YEARS.
Enjoyed your video very much, through several viewings. Unlike much of the crap you get on TH-cam these days, this is a truly honest video - accurate title, no annoying background "music" and no AI. Sara is a natural bonus!!
I don't know how I came across this video, but I'm glad I did.. at the same time though, I cried.. because what seemed like such a simple video really turned out to be something beautiful. Seeing the tree change was neat, but the dog really got me because you watch the time and think how short they are here with us. Then I read the comments and really teared up to see the dog had passed 9 years ago and then see the video is 12 years old 😭 you blink and time passes you by.. God bless.
I am so glad you made this video. Smooth time lapses of plant growth are fairly hard to come by, not to mention time lapses that take place over multiple years!
I like it. I just planted two Pins out front and a Shumard out back. This vid shows me what to expect in the fraction a trees life I will actually be alive to witness. Lapeere, thank you.
Interesting so each time the tree comes back from being dormant the internal structure changes and the new canopy raises as well as the trunk seems to get a growth spurt
in a way this made me get excited. I got this plant who grew up to 3 meters from almost seedling state only to stop in autumn. I can only imagine how much more it will grow once spring hits again
There’s these people who bought some bushes for a privacy fence but they bought these tiny tiny bushes like 6” bushes. Offers them NO privacy whatsoever. Idk if they’re waiting 10 years for their plants to grow or what🙄
That was so beautiful to watch. I never paid attention to it until I saw it in this timelapse but to watch a tree completely shed all its leaves and then grow more the next summer is absolutely fascinating! Teaches you a lot about your own life. Never give up people. And always keep reinventing! ❤️
I have about 20 different locations around the yard, (and one inside the house) that I set my camera on. I try to take at least one picture a week, more during springtime and fall, at the 12:00 noon in non-daylight savings days, and 1:00pm on DSDs. That way I hope to catch the equinox shadows. I use the layering technique in Photoshop to line up the photos and use an old Olympus Movie making program to create the video.
Beautiful. I even caught a glimpse of a rainbow in there. I like simple videos like this. Sometimes it's those little things in life that make you appreciate the beauty of the earth we live on.
I wanted to see a tree growth over the years and I searched the entire internet, cannot believe this is the only one I found in year 2021. Just want to say thank you for making this!
Very cool how every time the tree grows back it comes back stronger than the last time. Never really knew that’s how trees grew or how the seasons effected them.
