Death's Gambit: Afterlife heroic Thalamus NG+9

  • I will suggest STR/FIN players give piercing light ability a try. It scales by FIN, but soldier's talent can make it scale by STR(but it still need 12FIN to use it). It has exceptional power compare to the same soul cost ability, and has range, not so bad preparation speed and lesser cooldown time.
After you reach 150 cap for your build target, and all equipment reach lv12, normal attack will stop increasing there damage. And each ng+ will increase the life amount of heroic bosses a lot. The only way to handle this is by the advanced talent "soul gambit", you need more soul to use ability, but it gains more power, the interesting part is this talent will effect your perfect blocking retaliation and parry count attack. And they both are souls free. So the main attack strategy are these three methods. Normal attack is for souls granted. When I reach ng+8, total level stops at 500, and this limitation is not changed in new ng+, but it looks like it has ng+20, so it might be open in some ng+ level. But more level up will increase life only, you still need soul gambit talent to grant more power.
The other strategy I need is try to reduce the cooldown time. Piercing light has 16 sec cooldown when your HST reach max 30. The first thing is you put piercing light in slot 3, by general talent "soul haste", it will reduce 25% cooldown time, which is 12 sec, The soldier's talent "perfect block haste" will reduce 8 sec cooldown time when you use perfect block, so the piercing light can use rapidly after perfect block attacks. And soldier's talent can make fortitude has 4 sec invisible time, this is very crucial to face this difficult battle.
The last part is about boss. Thalamus's attack power is around 1K~2K+, but when it starts calling minions, its power will scale to strange range, max to 9K+. which means one shot kill. And the most difficult parts is when it start to summon mini bosses. The most difficult ones are Bulwark and Ash, Their HP are very high(Bulwark 30000+,Ash maybe near 60000+), The first part of Bulwark you need to use Bysurge and Phoenix to reduce cooldown time to fire piercing light rapidly. Ash you need to block his attack and use Time Warp to attack him, but still will face one mixed battle, this is the most difficult parts. And the second part Bulwark is different, he will appear in the middle of the field, it's the best time to attack thalamus. And there are still a lot of small details but I think I think that's enough for now.

I've been trying this fight in NG+5 but can't seem to get the dps to kill the bulwarks/bysurges before I get overwhelmed. I don't have piercing light and I sort of feel like it's almost necessary for this fight. I'm using a wizard and the dps spells are too slow. Even with the orb shield.
Another thing, does parrying thalamus make him hit harder? I can parry spam him down to half health and then suddenly he does like 3x more damage.

For a long time I couldn't beat the heroic Crow because of his stupid power drain and one-shots. I can make a perfect block, but apparently not as perfectly as this particular enemy requires. I changed the character into different builds and weapons but it was all in vain... in general, in the end I made maximum mana + maximum mana gaining + fire magic tome + exile wings (eternal flight with my mana) => maximum bombardment of the boss from the air :)
Then I tried to go through the whole game with that => all the bosses except Ash and Eternal were killed +/- without problems.
