    If your Running any ASIC Miners at Home, what creative methods have you used to quiet down your Miner because dang those High RPM Fans are so Whiny!?

      I've used the Fruits & Associates kits for both the Antminer and Whatsminer ASICs. Never had any issues and they've worked great.

    I wish you would have had it running just like that to see how the sound was. I plan on doing this for my K7 but it will remain in my basement. I will be putting a large cylinder filter on it but would be nice to know if it's still quiet enough for a house. Thanks

    • @TheHobbyistMiner
      @TheHobbyistMiner  ปีที่แล้ว

      100% is. You can remove the fans, install the fan spoofers, shroud and inline fan and leave it.

  • @plainvi3wmining422
    @plainvi3wmining422 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    I will tell you right now that the guy at "Fruits and Associates" makes the BEST shrouds. Period. I have tried them all - by everyone who makes them - and by far theirs are the best for several reasons.
    Also, just a comment that all our S19J Pros run pretty great until we start adding fan spoofers. I've been told the S19jPro models (the only ones we have, rn) are very very buggy firmware wise, so a word of caution to anyone looking to alter an S19jPro

    • @TheHobbyistMiner
      @TheHobbyistMiner  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      So far so good. Looks like the spoofers are reporting the fans at 6900 rpms right now.

    • @michaelbrich7281
      @michaelbrich7281 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@TheHobbyistMiner Intake of the ASIC or intake of the AC infinity inline fan? You want to filter the air before it travels through the ASIC. Unless I'm mistaken and the shroud kit is on the intake side of the ASIC and not the exhaust. If it is how do the ASIC exhaust fans handle the extra airflow being pushed by the AC Infinity fan?

    After install of the in-line fan and removing the (4) fans, was there an electrical savings or was the project just to reduce noise?

    • @TheHobbyistMiner
      @TheHobbyistMiner  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      So the inline fan uses 100watts at speed 10. So it did use less watts than the 4 x 6000 rpms fans overall. But i was also moving MORE air.

  • @pierremiranda3849
    @pierremiranda3849 ปีที่แล้ว

    If that fan that is connected to a different breaker trip out and that miner is running over 80 internally boards are going to get burn as the miner is going to continue running because since original fans been remove it won’t shut down right on time or right away and therefore over heat. I have that same issue running the same setup. Best thing you can do is connect that ac infinity to the same breaker that miner is running so if one of them trip ( miner or fan) both would shut down at the same time

    • @TheHobbyistMiner

      S19J Pro will thermal throttle at 90C and at 96C stops mining on it's own as a safe guard.

    I would be nervous completely removing the fans on the Asic. Especially with the inline fan on a separate breaker. What if for some reason the 120V circuit breaker pops but the S19 keeps chugging along on the 240V circuit? Hopefully the thermal protections will be fast enough to shut it down but 3kW heats stuff fast... I have a similar setup but I keep the original fans on. They do very little noise at 2-3k rpm but will ramp up if the inline fan breaks or shuts down.

    • @TheHobbyistMiner

      Its a great thought. Something to workout forsure.

    • @Marnus208
      @Marnus208 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Great idea, i have a similar setup as well with 2 Asics in my basement. Right now i have one 8inch fan blowing outside air into both. I'm also in Pennsylvania so it's been nice and cool so all works great. That said, I've always been worried the fan gives in and the Asics warm up too fast and something gets messed up. Keeping the original fans on may then be a fail safe and like you said, they will just fire up

    • @Porter302007
      @Porter302007 ปีที่แล้ว

      Why would your circuit randomly pop? That's not how electricity works... If you're that concerned about it simply run a dedicated 15amp breaker for this fan/set of fans. The original fans move ~360-500CFM (having fans on both front and back doesn't dbl airflow) so if you want you can reduce the inline fan down to ~500CFM (2/3 power) and it'll last longer than your stock fans.

    • @guillaumel9891
      @guillaumel9891 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Porter302007 Maybe he also has a toaster on that circuit, I don't know. Or the fan bearing fails. Or a squirrel chews the wires. Point is : you never want to have a single point of failure.

    • @Porter302007
      @Porter302007 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@guillaumel9891 you're listing avoidable failures. Fan bearings fail progressively they aren't a binary function - they'll fail over time which allows ample time catch and resolve the issue. You do not need to over engineer or introduce unnecessary complexity to the situation - the addition of extra is more often a detriment to the process.
