@TheHobbyistMiner I would be mounting it in a 14x10x04 ABS Plastic Weatherproof Indoor/Outdoor IP24 NEMA 3R Enclosure. There is enough room for 2 miners in it and I can mount the box off the ground and under my back porch that gets sunshine all day long.
Love your channel! For the best results, angle the panel south for full sun exposure from sunrise to sunset. Be sure to seal any roof protrusions with Henry 208R Roof Cement or polyurethane sealant and wall penetrations with GE Silicone II for a weather-tight finish. Can’t wait to see the setup in action!
some objective criticism here: the solar panel feels like a gimmick. 20 watts solar panel? really? 20 watts of energy consumption would cost you 1.4 dollars per month at 0.1$ kwh price. that is essentially free on its own. in fact most depin miners consume next to no power as they aren't really doing the traditional type of mining(doing very complex calculations) that requires huge amounts of processing power. the only part that is admittedly clever is not needing a power outlet if you put this on your rooftop. aside from that, what's inside the box? a 20w solar panel(20 dollars), a raspberry pi(~100 dollars) and a battery (not sure on the capacity so no clue on the price). how much does that cost to manufacture? surely not 740 dollars or anywhere close to it. idk, in the end, maybe the project will skyrocket and it ends up being worth it. or maybe not. personally i'll pass because of the huge discrepancy between manufacturing price and sale price
I hate to break it to you, but that's how all consumer products are done. I'm not a big fan of it, but watch a couple episodes of "Shark Tank" and you'll see that they consider around 20-30% cost to MSRP the norm, i.e., a $10 product cost $2-3 to produce. At least this one pays you back over time, unlike every single item at your local store.
I'm all for small miners, but I checked the whitepaper, and it doesn't list any mining algorithm, and if it's acting as a validator for the blockchain, that usually requires some form of storage, ssd...etc... also they have it priced over $700 for this unit, the solar panel is worth $20 new, battery is less then $20 being a cheap 12v 5AH battery, and the circuit boards maybe $100. Way too much inflation in price for a glorified arm cpu, a small solar panel and a small lead acid battery. Sorry but this project sketches me out. You can probably just connect 12v to the power port and the battery becomes a battery backup instead of solar.
You listed the price of the components but failed to acknowledge the payback. Interesting. Going by your analysis I should only pay $6000 for the boat I’ve ordered instead of $52,000.
I hate to say it but this feels like a scam to me. Computing power and electrical power are linked, and efficiency tends to be fairly flat within a generation of devices (you might see 2x efficiency within a generation but you won't see 50x), a 2w SolarX miner device must have relatively less computing power than for example an IceRiver ASIC at 100w. The payouts either cannot be sustainable and will be massively cut back, or they aren't real. I hope they aren't selling high-margin devices and simply paying out a portion of the sale price back to miners to make it look like profit.
The costs you listed make sense if you’re making something for yourself at home. But, with this being a business you have to consider labor, tax, licensing, ad, shipping, custom hardware manufacturing and a bunch of other costs. Running a legit business isn’t cheap.
Ur both right and its a little cheaper then that to build even labor would be cheap. Yes shipping licenses batteries all a pain but not anything special looking there so about 1.9 watts to send a long range wifi signal back to the house idk. 1.9 watts is just the system saying hi im right here lol if there not actually running on its own blockchain and feeding power back the house actually helping the whole system, whats the point. This is going to fizz out to more garbage and usless shit in ur shed in the end. Sorry great idea bad follow thru. For me I'm out. Do a little homework on what ur actually paying 750 for and where does this go, to sell pressure thats where lol good luck.
Sounds like a good business. Get three of them and with the current price of their token (which very likely could go up) it is already 300$ per month. Set and forget, and in 8 months you'll be getting profits.
I would install it next to my Apartment balcony to collect the sunlight, the box would go inside my TV cabinet next to it then we'd have a mining rig in the southern hemisphere powered by the Aussie sunshine to expand the network across the globe. The future's bright, the future's SolarX
So what is it actually "mining"? What is the solar power used for? You get paid for the amount of energy it creates, but where is that energy going? Even at 4 Watts is it just using that to run the sensors mentioned in the whitepaper?
First and foremost I want to thank you for your work and expertise in crypto mining. I wish I got involved in this at the end of last Bull cycle, and I'm getting started a little late in mining. Your channel has helped me the in and out of mining. I've been researching heavily the past 48 hours in mining and understand the difference in pool vs solo mining. As for me I would mount this facing the the east as that is where my front door on a elevated platform at an angle. And would drill a small hole so the wires can go through by the side of my door properly sealed, much better than door damaging wire underneath. Thanks for this video.
Exactly.. video is "WTF is a "SOLAR MINER" and Why is it so PROFITABLE!"... didn't answer either for someone that's never heard of such a thing.. wtf is a solar miner? and... why is it so profitable?...
I would install this next to the resin printer. Some pitfalls on the solar setup. 1. Winter months, might increase your battery bank due to cloudy days. 2. Do some research on where to point your solar panel, some might think this is common sense, you would be surprised. How many watts can this build handle?
I’d install the SolarX on the roof of my porch! It gets loads of sun even in the winter and I’m on the East coast. Been learning loads from your channel-bummed I’m later than most to mining but this would put me ahead of the game with this technology!
I live in the south and get a lot of direct sunlight at home. I also build sheds from Tuff Shed. I like your setup and have a 12x16 building with 8ft walls. I have a large backyard that’s secured. Loved the video and the product! Thanks for sharing !!
That's so awesome. Once I can afford something like this I'd sure like to get a few. Thanks for the vid and the awesome info. I just "Liked & Subscribed" :)
I have a crypto solar shed for three years now. These days I am running three Iceriver Ks0 miners pure on solar power. So putting this SolarX miner in my shed is a no brainer. 😊
Hi, love your channel. Now subscribed. This is very interesting to me. I have always wanted to get into mining but didn’t because of the power consumption. I now live in Florida on the inter coastal river. I had solar panels put on my house to supply my whole house. The system was too small so I installed 11 more solar panels on my boat house roof that is literally on the water. After 12 months of monitoring, the production of the panels on the house and on the boat house, the boat house panels regularly produce 25% more power then do the roof panels. Btw, all panels face the same way south. If I get this solar miner, I’m going to install it on the boat house and see if having more solar power going to the miner will affect its mining. I will post the results on this channel to let all subscribers know if positioning the solar panel near let’s say a koi pond or bird bath in their yard will yield more power. Interesting. Hope I win.
I love the concept of using solar. I am a full time beekeeper. I have solar on the storage buildings at the I use at the larger hive locations. This would be a great addition and a second source of income for the bee farm. I have been looking into mining but have not started yet.
First time on this channel! Thanks for the great content! What a cool project! It's safe to say everyone dreams of having more passive income, and with technology that's better for the planet, it's a win-win. I can really see a positive movement for something like this, even in developing countries around the world. ☀️ Mounting it on the south-facing window of the apartment will get sunshine all day.
I have solar panels and all the equipment to setup my solar system in my backyard (bought the generator, 220 volt solar panels, controller, etc. and was going to set up a station in an air conditioned shed outside). With that said I am fairly new to mining so this would be a great opportunity to have a solar miner to go along with my setup.. It is so cool that this even exists and would be so cool to win this and start my journey with this awesome miner that goes along with my equipment... Thank you for offing this and for all you do @TheHobbyistMiner. Also a special thank you to your awesome donor... I am grateful to be entering for all I am learning, for the contest and grateful you are offering even offering this... Wishing the best to everyone entering and looking forward to tomorrow's contest!!
This is fantastic! I was at the MineDisrupt this year 2024 and literally been preaching Solar alternative. I would mount the Solar X In Intro mining Classes Ill be teaching soon and show proof of work. Im currently Computer Instructor 45years and past Aerospace Engineer. now teaching New technonlgy to intro to mining during the Halving. This is great for beginners to show especially during the bear market turning to bull. I be honored to Do show and tell in my training classes. Thanks for the information
Great video! I am brand new to crypto mining (have not even started) but not to solar and crypto itself. Now that Solar X has combined the two, I will be exploring the crypto mining much more. I have always heard that there is a high electrical demand in mining so I have not explored it much. Now that there is this option I would love to start with this setup. If I did happen to win the Solar X giveaway, I would take your inspiration of the mining shed (as I already have a shed with the mower in it that gets full sun most of the day) and start my mining adventure. I'm sure either way win or lose I will be in touch in the future as I have many questions on the entire process. Good luck everyone!
I have already a solar panel that I use every day to charge phone and tablet and to play music with Alexa. Now I think its time to make money with solar, I will install Solar x at the same spot. Thanks for your video
This is awesome! So many different ways to contribute to a blockchain project and I’m here for it! Can’t wait to try it out! Just built a new shed I’ll probably have a few in there
First I would like to say, that you deliver when it comes to content. You mentioned all we had to do is say where we would put the miner. I actually would probably have it on my roof with my Helium IoT and Wifi Hotspot! I love most mining projects and DePins as well. Mining is a lifestyle. Keep it up -- and congrats to whoever may the winner be! 👍
as someone who lives in a tropical country, this is perfect, i can find ample of sunlight and heat all day all year! will be looking to see if its possible to put in my rooftop, since my garden (at the front of my house) isn't quite safe with access to passerby.
I have a large flat roof to the rear of my property which gets sun most of the day! I've never mined before and this rig looks perfect. Love your sho Paul (Swansea Wales UK)
My "mining room" is getting pretty full (as is my electric panel), so these would be perfect for expanding outside of it without needing new infrastructure. I could put it in my shed (one used for actual storage) and not need to run power or internet out to it. It also gets a good amount of sun through the day, so should run without issue. Pretty cool.
Thanks for the review. Its low wattage leaves me with questions about how profitable it can be. But by the end of the week, hopefully you will show us your experience. I would install it in my office, next to a window, where I can monitor the sun exposure outside here in Florida. Did I miss the hashrate?
I would like to try one of these to see their performance. If they did well, I would add them to a below ground encapsulated crawlspace that is dehumidified. Slowly adding more over time as they pay for themselves. It would be a cool project and no monthly utility increase.
For me, I'd install it directly were my old satellite system was installed. That side of my house in Toronto, ON get's hit with sun 90% of the day. With all that sun, the original A/c was installed by the builder, I have moved it to the side were the A/C remains cool and it loved it.
Lucky me just installed 20kw solar on my roof and built a dedicated room at roof . Perfect for me to place the solarx there. Going to dive into the project. If hashrate or something like that comes down on my daytime then my profits will be high as i am in different time zone
I would install the Solar X right outside my bedroom window. I get killer sun there and would have no issues with the battery recharging. I appreciate you doing these giveaways on top of the awesome and informative content !
Ordered mine when it was making hundreds a day but by the time I got it, its making what the vid above showed. I hear folks about the price, its high, however the 1 thing that is keeping me a lil optimistic is being able to mine other coins that launch on Solarx blockchain, so the possible money making opportunities' may still be there.
I've been watching your videos and have been thinking of taking the plunge into mining! I'm a full-time RVer so I'd incorporate this into my existing solar setup! Was also thinking of getting a Mini Doge or KS0 Pro to run off solar when I have full hookup power at RV parks! Thanks for all the great content!
This is a Great Miner, the best thing is the 0 electricity, and therfore I can installed somewhere in the Huge yard we have here in the country side! 😀Nice unboxing/starting video, keep them coming!
I would set this up in and on my shed. Get a great amount of sunlight to charge the unit. I am just getting into mining, and your videos have been helpful for me getting started. Thank you
No electrical costs, I'm in! I would install this on my back deck. Easy wiring access to my mining cellar from there. Thanks, Hobbyist, for educating us on these new projects.
Winning this would definitely be a sign from the universe that I really need to jump into mining. I'd have to mount the solar panel onto a pole, and I like your mining shed setup, so I'm thinking of building one of my own for the miner.
Thanks for giving back. I will give this to my son, to get him familiar with the concept. We will install it on our shed, just as ulyou did, in one is the side walls. Fingers crossed!
I will installed at the top of my roof, with a secured solar rack, it was a very nice concept and project, very cool and environmental friendly. Great Job. :)
I would install the unit in my main room so I can stare at it all day. The panel would go next to my current PV array in back yard. Thank you and keep up the good work.
That's so cool! that's definitely going in my shed if I win, thanks for the video, been wanting to do some solar mining, I've never heard of this miner.
I recently installed an outdoor 5G hotspot and I’d likely mount the solar hardware the same, and add extra antennas as needed. Choice of location for mounting point is it’s at the highest point on the roof, direct sunlight for as much of the day as can be harvested.
In NY, I would install the SolarX miner solar panel off my deck and locate the miner in the bedroom. Eventually take it with me to PA when my foreclosure is completed around December/January
2 หลายเดือนก่อน
pretty cool - I need this and would install it on our terrace in Rome (Italy). This is such an easy way to get started and dip your feet into mining
I live in California and my rate is .35 kWh on non peak hours and .65 on peak hours so this would help me out tremendously. I would place this miner on my patio cause it gets good sun and I would get an external casing for it
In order to get good sunlight saturation, I would mount it on the roof above my garage towards the south. I believe it's the best place to put any solar with all the trees around me.
If I win one, I will mount it at my home. I have perfect room where I can place the miner itself inside, and put the cable through the wall and connect the solar panel on a mount right on the other side of the wall. It will be amazing :) Nice video anyway, keep up the good work :D
In addition to other's valid concerns, here it is a couple months later since this video was posted and that "SolarX" coin is still plummeting in value, it's down to less than 2 cents now, which isn't a good sign; hmm, not looking good at the moment folks, but I do like the general concept of what they are trying to do anyway.
Big thanks for sharing @The Hobbyist Miner. I would probably end up placing it in the corner of my living room. It's like a piece of art and should be shown off. It would also be ideal as we have sun year round and less than 5 days of rain where I'm at.

@@thehonestcarpenter9172 He said he is putting it on the wall outside near the roofs over hanging ledge with a mount. But good advise.
A few kilometers from the sun haha
Congratulations to @tjedwards32 he was selected using Random TH-cam Comment Picker as our Winner of the SolarX Miner!
noooo!!!!!!!!!
😡😡😡
some objective criticism here:
the solar panel feels like a gimmick.
50 H battery is about $75
You can also say the exact same thing regarding every asic miner ever made. $99 for a new KD BOX 2 or $$$$ for a profitable coin.
Now I know why I am laughing at this video!!!
this is a scam
this wreaks of my Helium miner that $600 and at first paid a decent amount a month and now is a doorstop
Yeah.. similar to my Bobcat 300 and the Helium network. JOKE..!
You listed the price of the components but failed to acknowledge the payback. Interesting. Going by your analysis I should only pay $6000 for the boat I’ve ordered instead of $52,000.
I agree, as soon as i saw inside and also the 20w solar panel, what a joke, just a arm cpu, low and slow as well with 4.8W mining power or whatever
😢
that solar panel only cost here 50 php in phillipines. hahaha 1$
I hate to say it but this feels like a scam to me. Computing power and electrical power are linked, and efficiency tends to be fairly flat within a generation of devices (you might see 2x efficiency within a generation but you won't see 50x), a 2w SolarX miner device must have relatively less computing power than for example an IceRiver ASIC at 100w. lets say: panel=$50, battery=$30, electronics=$100, casing=$30, labor=$?, I don't see how this costs $750. It is interesting nonetheless.
The costs you listed make sense if you’re making something for yourself at home. But, with this being a business you have to consider labor, tax, licensing, ad, shipping, custom hardware manufacturing and a bunch of other costs. Running a legit business isn’t cheap.

I would install it at my dad’s. He lives off the grid on solar power only and lives off of social security payments.
Sounds like a good business. Get three of them and with the current price of their token (which very likely could go up) it is already 300$ per month. Set and forget, and in 8 months you'll be getting profits.

I think it's just a node with a solar panel gimmick to justify the 740$ pricetag.
The energy comes from the battery, the solar panel charges the battery.
This video motivated me to invest in my first cryptocurrency!
How many decades it takes to pay for $740 with mined profits?
I really want this, if I get it, I am going to place it in my shed in my backyard, since it has no power, but it gets lots of sun!

Thanks for the review. Its low wattage leaves me with questions about how profitable it can be. But by the end of the week, hopefully you will show us your experience. I would install it in my office, next to a window, where I can monitor the sun exposure outside here in Florida. Did I miss the hashrate?
the best content creator when it comes to mining rigs, ill pu this on my hut out side my house
Very interesting, I would mount it over a clock mechanism to chase the sun - thank you for the inspiring video!
Amazing Project, hope win to begin my first crypto miner. In my garage ✅ dont have now better local to begin. 🍀
Hello. On my roof. I have enough Sun here in Mexico. That's its an really good Start for me, being a Miner. Thanks and Regards from Mexico
Thanks for the clear instructions, the process went smoothly.
I would like to try one of these to see their performance. If they did well, I would add them to a below ground encapsulated crawlspace that is dehumidified. Slowly adding more over time as they pay for themselves. It would be a cool project and no monthly utility increase.
Great video. We would install this in our shed in our off grid house
For me, I'd install it directly were my old satellite system was installed. That side of my house in Toronto, ON get's hit with sun 90% of the day. With all that sun, the original A/c was installed by the builder, I have moved it to the side were the A/C remains cool and it loved it.
🎉 Really amazing in the mining industry 🎉😊
I wish I could buy it.
I appreciate you doing these giveaways on top of the awesome and informative content !
im from Greece,we have got plenty of sun,I will install it on my roof and will be my first miner.Good job informing us
Really cool, great video! I live in Dubai and would put the solar panel on my balcony with the miner inside my AC apartment.
I will install this on my summerhouse on a small island where i run the entire house on Solarpanels. Great video!
Have a perfect place to mount on my current array. Miner inside with other miners. Thanks for the opportunity to expand the mining farm.
I would install this SolarX miner on my existing solar shed where my off-grid solar array is located! Thank you for the awesome information! 🎉🌞⚡️
Thanks for the video. I'll install it over my garage.
Awesome Miner! I love solar projects.
If I happen to get picked, I would install the SolarX in my little workshop I built a few years ago, its worth a shot.
No electric costs, I'm in! I would install this on my back deck. Thanks, Hobbyist, for educating us on these new projects
I probably set it up at my son's house which gets a lot of sun. Thank you for the content. It has been helpful for me.
I will installed at the top of my roof, with a secured solar rack, it was a very nice concept and project, very cool and environmental friendly. Great Job. :)

I’m from Africa and we have lots of sunshine ☀️ I will definitely install it in my backyard ❤🎉
I would install the unit in my main room so I can stare at it all day. The panel would go next to my current PV array in back yard. Thank you and keep up the good work.
This is an awesome idea! I would put this on my shed next to my fry weather miner.
Awesome vid! This looks like a fun project to tinker in. I would have to install that panel on my (storage) shed, don't have a mining shed yet. lol
That's so cool! that's definitely going in my shed if I win, thanks for the video, been wanting to do some solar mining, I've never heard of this miner.
installed in my office where I keep the rest of my home miners. always good videos and very informative keep them coming
so , can you please give me a review about it , and does it mine ?
Thank you! My wife and I are going shopping for a shed this evening. It will go in and on the shed. :)
I recently installed an outdoor 5G hotspot and I’d likely mount the solar hardware the same, and add extra antennas as needed. Choice of location for mounting point is it’s at the highest point on the roof, direct sunlight for as much of the day as can be harvested.
I'd mount one to my mining shed as well! Appreciate the deep dive into this new project and love that it's renewable.
Great video. I will mount on my backyard on top of my winter garden and put the miner near my bonsai colection
I will install it where the sun shines all day :) - thank you for a nice video and opening my old eyes for Solar Mining. gj
In NY, I would install the SolarX miner solar panel off my deck and locate the miner in the bedroom. Eventually take it with me to PA when my foreclosure is completed around December/January
pretty cool - I need this and would install it on our terrace in Rome (Italy). This is such an easy way to get started and dip your feet into mining
I live in California and my rate is .35 kWh on non peak hours and .65 on peak hours so this would help me out tremendously. I would place this miner on my patio cause it gets good sun and I would get an external casing for it
Yes a beautiful Solar Miner i am excited, id place it on my patio in Australia
In order to get good sunlight saturation, I would mount it on the roof above my garage towards the south. I believe it's the best place to put any solar with all the trees around me.
If I win one, I will mount it at my home. I have perfect room where I can place the miner itself inside, and put the cable through the wall and connect the solar panel on a mount right on the other side of the wall. It will be amazing :) Nice video anyway, keep up the good work :D
It would be my new start to life in New Zealand 🙏 it will go in my shed 😅 thanks for hard work
In addition to other's valid concerns, here it is a couple months later since this video was posted and that "SolarX" coin is still plummeting in value, it's down to less than 2 cents now, which isn't a good sign; hmm, not looking good at the moment folks, but I do like the general concept of what they are trying to do anyway.
Installing on southern side of my Florida home . Looks super cool 🎉
When I get one, I will install it on the back corner of my porch roof. Thanks for the review, Hobbyist!!!
Nice. Would love to have this.
Installation at the house of my mom on the balcony with direct sun exposure.!
i'd really like to try this one out. Would be installed in my garage, where i got best solar 🤘
And really awesome and informal video as always
I'd install it in my room, hope this guy is quiet enough! Regards from Argentina!
Big thanks for sharing @The Hobbyist Miner.
I would probably end up placing it in the corner of my living room. It's like a piece of art and should be shown off. It would also be ideal as we have sun year round and less than 5 days of rain where I'm at.
Great new miner, I would love to install the solar panel on my front porch and mine directly from my living room! That would be crazy!
