Great vid. Save me on reprogramming a used computer. Was my first time ever programming a module and got it done. Sad GM started this trash during a time when service parts are getting expensive or hard to find. Thanks for the help
Sick of these manufacturers trying to block things like used modules especially when half the time you can’t even get a hold of a module through the dealers. They act like we’re not going to find a way around their BS. A bunch of us should get together and sue the hell out of them since we can show that it can be easily done with tools on the market and is only impossible through them because of limitations they’ve created that didn’t exist before. With the big push behind right to repair at this point we could probably win.
I am with you 100%... going through that hell right now, BCM for a corvette is discontinued, none of the remans will touch it ( too busy or cant idk ), over a month to find a used one get everything working through tech2 bcm options except the power convertible top an almost 10k option when car was new so might want "that" option to work right ? Going to attempt to refresh today ( thats what brought me to this video ) getting conflicting stories on weather it is or is not possible... its BS

For GM
thanks for sharing , have a 09 silverado that they want me to do a used computer today , but your video make me feel more positive about this job , thanks again
Excellent, glad to hear it! like and subscribe!
This helped me so much, thank you
thank you for all the work you do....
I had to figure out a "work around" on a poorly designed GM BCM ... the power pins got hot and melted the plastic housing on an out of production BCM. Only 2 ways to fix it. Get a used BCM (requires you to reprogram the eeprom) or install an external relay.
At about 1:30 in the video, after you type in the VIN and select from the pick list, do NOT choose CONNECT. Lower right of that box, click SELECT. That tells SPS "I don't care what the module says, I want to use the VIN I typed". You will still get the override warnings and have to click override but I have found this to be the easiest and most reliable way to do used modules in SPS2.
Thanks for the video man, SPS menus have changed a little bit but this general process still works as of today
They are workin’it alright. Good job & thanks for sharing.
No problem 👍
You are the man! i couldn’t figure theft fix on this new TLC ( before it used to transfer Key to another pcm on its own.) now we need do it manually- im a bit surprised that no need Security License for this
That's ridiculous, It was so simple changing out my 03 avalanche computer for a new one. Just used a tech2 and tis software. I gotta do my Camaro, it's an 2012 and looks like I need to jump through these hoops. I do remember having to do a relearn for the security. leaving it on for 10 minutes, then off for like a minute, then back on for 10 minutes. Doing that 3 times was a pain in the butt.
2012 camaro is global a.. definitely check my new videos on this, we sell tools now to clone and overcome global a issues..
Intrested thanks whats the name of the programing equipment
Thanks for the video. I recently bought the xvdiag and want to reprogram my main airbag module with a junkyard one. I know now to keep the old one in to authenticate the correct vin and swap it with the junkyard module before the reflash. Cheers

Nice! Email me globalcommerceca@gmail.com!
Have 2017 suburban at the dealer waiting for a ECM not sure how long to wait till they get one in. This started several weeks ago with rabbits chewing wiring local mechanic fixed chewed wires but wouldn't start so he could not figure out so how to have it towed todealer now will cost around $2900 to fix whenever they get the ECM in.
Wow that's nuts, if you were in Houston would cost you a fraction of that with me..
Do you have the option to flash a different size motor to the “said” vin with GM Techline connect
Would this be able to reprogram an ECM on an '04 Tahoe with flex fuel to run on gasoline only if the flex fuel sensor is bypassed?
Would this be the same procedure to reprogram a new cluster? I recently installed a new cluster on my 2011 malibu and now the odometer is stuck at 130k miles and it doesn't change. Great video!
Great work
Be sure to check my updated video on this
I’m having the same issue with theft deterrent on a 2016 GMC Sierra. Prior repair shop replaced PCM after a lightning strike. They couldn’t figure out why it wouldn’t communicate. I diagnosed it and found that the PSCM was shorted out and preventing communication on the CAN network. Now I cannot reset theft deterrent… any assistance would be greatly appreciated! Ugh
Since you’ve diagnosed the PSCM as shorted, that definitely complicates things. Have you tried checking all the connections to ensure they’re secure? Sometimes a loose or corroded connection can cause these kinds of problems. If you have a good scanner, it might help to pull any codes and see if there’s more insight there
Thank you so much for the video. You helped me reprogram a used ecu. However now the old key won’t work on the reflashed ecu. I get the theft detterant message. Did you have that issue ?
You need to do theft relean procedure, should be in this video
@@globalcommerce7654 you are correct sir. It was in the video I must have skipped it. Thank you 🙏
Hey, does this method still work? Swapping module before actual writing)
yes check my other videos on this. I have an updated video on this
VERY GOOD VIDEO, BUT THERE IS TOO MUCH NOISE BACK SIDE
You make it look so difficult. When the connect to vehicle screen comes up manually type in the vin then hit over ride. Goes through everytime on pre global a vehicles. Did a 2010 ss cobalt just the other day. Also have done dozens in the past year with used modules. Only time i have had issues is sometimes radios wont program when its used. If you have the vin of the donor vehicle and call tech line they can get you a vci number to program them with.
This was an issue with an older version of TLC, it would crash doing what you described. I have other videos of it working..
Does a 2012 tahoe ppv use the same programming as a regular 5.3 L tahoe?
2016 Sonic 1.4l with a used ECM from a '14, shop said the used ECM would not program to the car, had to put the old one back in it. It randomly stops reading RPM's, SPEED, Electric steering stops working, and will not go into reverse. Problem is intermittent but happens almost every engine cycle?
Solution to all those problems here:

How much do u charge for this, how much did u charge them
But can you program the immo identifier on modules on GM's after 2010?
Couldn't you have used Tech2/Tis200 because it is a 2007 vehicle?
Very good video! I believe the future for us doing this work is EEPROM work. This is the only option for many cars currently.
Great point!
Tried to reprogram a used ecu on a 2016 GMC sierra. Theft deterrent activated. I’ve tried to relearn immobilizer. Will not let me! So frustrating!
If the ECU isn’t letting you relearn the immobilizer, double check the key or even the connections to the ECU. Sometimes a simple reset or making sure the right procedure is followed
What kind of programmer do you use?
So what's the deal with this sps now? A year ago I was able to program a used bcm for an 2016 Cruze but now today when I try my 2015 Malibu which I bought an used bcm I can't do it. The programming fails to connect after reading the calibrations. Are they blocking this now like the pcm?
Malibu in that year is a global architecture vehicle. Will only allow you to program a new gm module.
Yes, they are blocking it, subscribe and check my other videos on workaround.
Hello are you able to do this on a 2012 acadia 3.6 with the newer global architecture ecm?
Sunscribe and Check my other videos, I have different methods
Great video man! Question, what tool did you use when you couldn’t do the theft relearn on the other vehicle you mentioned?
Autel IM608
Do you recommend mdi 2 ?
I am looking for tools for reprogramming tcu ,pcm on chevy 2006-2023
@@MrMexanik066 mdi2 is the best tool for normal programming stuff on gm. Autel jvci couldn't do immo relearn on 2018 or newer equinox
@@truth4reel where you recommend to buy it ?
Yo I have this 2013 Cruze I can’t for the life of me figure out. Think I’d need to change the vin of the used PCM? I keep getting the E4491 & the E4423 errors right before programming starts.
If it's global a you would have to use some of the workaround methods subscribe and check my other videos
You have to clone
Hi, thanks for the video. Please do you have a video on programming chevy cruze BCM on bench or using techconnect?
as far i can see you using option reprogram selection, you need select replace and reprogram, and you dont need change back and worth ecu,sdm etc...
that's incorrect, what you described worked with previous version of TLC, on newer updates they disabled this and it will force close on wrong VIN detected in PCM, just had another subscriber have the same issue about 2 hours ago and showed him the steps to complete programming..
@@globalcommerce7654 reprogramed 2010 used srx sdm module today, everything went fine, maybe ecu works different way idk, didnt try that yet... p.s old sdm fried couse of water, cant use it anyway in my case

Gm is going in a direction like the Germans auto manufacturers. Locking every module down to a vin and having to buy expensive tools to bypass their bullshit. This is why I stick do diesel since modules can be programmed to a different vin without locking it to a truck. But programming events cost 3x compared to sps 45$
Absolutely, it’s frustrating to see GM and others follow that trend.
Diesel definitely has its advantages in that regard! Programming costs can really add up, especially compared to the more straightforward SPS process. It’s a tough balance between staying current and keeping it accessible. Thanks for sharing your thoughts!
Are you using windows 10? I have and old mastertech 1 j box and laptop with windows 7. Will that still work? Thanks
I believe it should still work and I use 10.
Probably works better on 7
It's July 2022 is this still working for you?
As of last week my method here still works.

How did u know pcm was bad .what was the truck doing . I think I got a bad pcm truck doing some stuip stuff
I did a diag on the pcm, wiring issues can also cause symptoms similar to a bad pcm.
Mine says reduce power doors locks are popping up and down abs, brake light comes on and then the truck shuts off .here's a good one grab the oil dip stick when truck is idling it just shuts off makes no sence. HELP
@@jerryross8215 sounds most likely like a bad ground/ cabling issue, unfortunately I'd have to be at the truck to troubleshoot it, and unless you're in Houston that's not a possibility.. I However Don't think it's the pcm, check cabling around dipstick area look under, may have rubbed through somewhere..

Does this still work? I have a 2011 GMC Terrain SLE 2.4L
I ordered a used OEM replacement that will be here in a few days.
Where are you located ? The dealership here said they would try to do it for $160 but they didn’t sound too confident, so I’m worried because I doubt the techs there ever install used ECMs.
Houston tx, yes with SPS it works
@@globalcommerce7654n. I just moved from TX, I’m in GA now. I wish I could’ve hired you for this. 😭 any chance you’d be able to do this without the car and just the 2 ECMs ? Prob not I’d guess lol.
Do you have original ecm? What was the problem? I can clone original to replacement if you send them to me.
@@globalcommerce7654it just isn’t always sending the signals to everything correctly. There is apparently a misfire in one of the cylinders sometimes, but I’ve had the engine replaced cause the old one died and it’s the exact same thing as before. Pretty sure it’s what killed the first engine early to begin with. The ac also only works intermittently but the last people that looked at it checked it twice and couldn’t find anything wrong with the AC and said it was likely a computer or electrical issue. I’ve suspected ECM for a while because of this but the other day, the check engine light came on so I took it to autozone and their scanner said it recommended replacing the ECM.
@@calebgalate7796 yes, I can definitely clone it to your replacement, email me: globalcommerceca@gmail.com

What j2534 interface do you have?

Honestly, this video is not very informative because you go through it so fast not explaining anything. It’s more like a show off video that you can program a car within a few minutes. Most of us are on here to learn things, but we can’t learn when you’re going 100 miles an hour through the process. Lol.
I have multiple videos showing programming, check my other videos if this one is to advanced for you.
