It is not the greatest set of wargame rules I ever played, but we are enjoying it a lot - if you play purely for fun, and lean into the whole stupid heroes thing, it is a laugh.
Roman reinforcements required under a new Consul I reckon - Dominatrix Trufax Doofus. He should be able to whip Johnny B's troops into shape. Also maybe buy better dice (or borrow Kaiser's). Always fun to watch these battle reports, thanks!
I get the impression that the Romans are still over pointed in relation to their effectiveness on the table, their 'advantages' don't seem to be able to counter act being outnumbered?
I think you might be right, although Roman tactics have not been great so far. I think we are going to move to larger Roman units to see if their advantages there start to even things out.
You can so that, but sadly the way the version plays out, you have to carefully track which models attack and are elligible to attack what.. given how diffrerent the hero stats are at fighting we tended to roll seperately. To be honest, I wish it were more of a unit on unit game.
Another fantastic batrep. Loving this series. I need to get a hold of the revised rulebook. Question is: Are the cards the same as 1st edition or were they rejiggered for revised?
@@ModellingforAdvantage That's a bummer as the 1st edition starter (which I have) is the same exact one as the revised with the exception of the rulebook and the cars. Oh, well. Just might have to buy it again! Thanks!
This is the second edition rules..... We were not tainted by first edition, so can't really compare.... It's by no means a perfect game, but fun when you give them silly names 🤣
I can't believe how much of a beating the Romans are being handed by the Gauls in the first three battles
Romans are clearly overcosted in points, we address this in later games.
Great battle report. You inspire me to play SPQR. I hope to see more of these. Nice job.
More is on the cards for sure, maybe even over the next few weeks- time permitting
Really entertaining game guys, I'm inspired to give SPQR a go !!

That sir, is a Great Name
Great name!..... Oh.... And all the dice are mine🎲😅.... Just gave him the wrong set.

Really enjoying these games. Bad dice rolls for Jonny B though...ouch
Yeah, the campaign is not exactly going his way at the moment.
Those snake eyes were hard, i felt Sorry for him 🤣
Once the hero joins a unit, you just add his attack dice to the pool of the unit(diff. colour) & roll them all at once ... speeds things up ;)

Bellendrix - lol. Love your naming conventions on the heroes. The Romans were a bit of a punching bag in this one.
Yeah, Jonny is having a rethink
Great battle!. PS a stupid question: where did you buy those trees?
Cheap trees, sprayed brown over everything (including original flock) then re-flocked.
Seems like the Romans are getting hit hard every time! Would increasing to large units help for them?
Great bat rep though guys, very enjoyable!
We'll find out soon enough 😉
Definitely something we are gonna try.
what models are the romans? look a bit like victrix..
Mixture. Most of the romaon troops are Caesarean Romans from Warlord - the heroes are from all over the place.
Good game, alot of fun
Thanks.
Jonny B needs a new Roman Hero called Maximus Erectus 😂😂
Working on it 😅
Sound s like he would fit in the team well!
We we like an awesome game guys, poor Romans though
Yeah, things are not really working out so well for the Romans.
Another tough day for the Romans😳
True fact.
Sure was.
Really entertaining game! Love your channel!
Thanks so much!
This seems a one-sided game. The Romans are not tough enough to offset the Galic superior numbers. I do not think I'll spend any time with this one.
Fair comment - we are goign to re-size the Roman units for the next game - see if that makes a difference.

We never played the original, so I can't say. I think they are different though.

Gl for the romans!
? Huh ?
WE did a test game before the match we filmed - to recap the rules, and Jonny crushed me...
Did they fix the rules yet?

@@jbatchelor85 As you have the models painted maybe try Infamy! Infamy! instead.
We have about 20 romans painted - not sure that is gonna be enough.
Seems like Warlord still need to tweak this game to get the balance issues sorted.
I think Jonny needs to try out the large unit sizes.
Warlord can't account for poor leadership and foolish decisions 🤣😂🤔...... 😭
Three out of three, crushing defeats....feels very unbalanced
I think we need to move away from the 8 man units for the romans
Oh.... And having an idiot in command.
