  • On this video we show you how to change the front discs (rotors), pads and brake fluid on a 2012 Mazda 2 DE 1.3 MZR. It's a simple job anyone can do with basic tools, just remember to take your time. Always try and use top quality parts as it could be the difference between crashing and not crashing.
I got the discs and pads on offer from Autodoc, sign up to their newsletter and wait for a 40% off code on discs to come around. I managed to get bosch discs and brembo pads for £83! bargain!
Tools needed 1/4 inch ratchet , 14mm socket, Half in ratchet 17mm socket, 21mm socket (wheels) , 10mm spanner (front bleed nipple) , 8mm spanner (rear bleed nipple), 1/2 inch breaker bar, copper slip, silicone grease , 4x Axel stands , and a jack.
brake bleed formation is rear driver, front passenger, rear passenger front driver.
I hope you find this video helpful, If you do please like, subscribe and comment below.
    Thanks for watching!

    Good video, Thanks for sharing.
The torque specs was missed I got it from the workshop manual:
Caliper bracket bolts: 82-101 Newton metres or 61-74 ft-lbf
Guide pin bolts: 22-31 Newton metres or 17-22 lbf
Wheel/Lug nuts: 88-118 Newton metres or 65-87 lbf

Thanks so much! Really helpful as I'm going to be changing my brakes, caliper, and rotors on my Mazda 2. Doesn't look to hard if you see someone else do it first.

    Great video!
Where did you put the jack stands? It supposed to be on the side of the car (where the pinch mark is) or am I wrong?

Well spotted, Peugeot decided to make the jacking points out of cheese so I used the front cross member and the rear suspension cups ☺️

for the bleed do you have to do both right and left or just the one side for front and rear? thanks for the video. keep up the good work! cheers

Hi 😊 and thanks for the comment. You have to do all four wheels, starting at rear wheel furthest away from the brake fluid reservoir then on to the opposite rear wheel. Then the closest front wheel to the brake reservoir then the opposite front wheel. Hope this makes sense ☺️👍🏼

Hey, looking to do the same for my Mazda. Can you tell me what tool you used to move the brake pistons? Thanks.

He used Channelocks, ideally you'd use a c-clamp using one of the old pads so it equalizes the around the caliper piston

How many miles did you do before your disc's needed changing?

    • @CarFlix.
      @CarFlix.  ปีที่แล้ว

Hi, it was hard to tell as we changed them after being the car 2nd hand. As a rule of thumb I'd always change the discs and pads together, especially if you don't know the cars history ☺️
