OMG - Have lived in my house for 24 years and always had a slow refill on the toilet. However tonight it slowed to literally a drip drip! Managed to get it sorted by unscrewing the cistern at the ballcock side of the joint (its the old tank fed type ) and flushed it through by releasing the isolation valve for the tank supply and it came alright again. I always put the slow filling down to a slow tank feed but I did notice on running the water through to flush it that there was quite a decent flow with the valve removed. Been subscribed for many years and checked your channel and saw the info on red valve for tank fed systems. Had no idea about this, 'Might be still attached to the arm' says you. Checked my cistern and guess what? The red valve is still attached to the plastic arm! Been there for some 30 years since the house was built! No wonder the fill was always slow! Brilliant video as always - would never have known this otherwise so thanks a mill! So now that's a job for me look at tomorrow to fit the red valve other side of the fitting!
I recently encountered two instances of this problem, and in both cases it was caused by a combination of hardened black diaphragms and a low pressure feed. The toilets were seldom used, the diaphragms had become moulded against the (red) seating, and the low pressure feed struggled to push them out of the way. I was on the cusp of installing new valve assemblies, but replacement diaphragms immediately resolved the problem.
@@johnsaunders1945your will be a close couple cistern? (Push button) u can litterly change the ballcrane without disconnecting it all , turn your mains off or if have a single isolation valve at wc turn that off , turn the ballcrane anti clock wise until it comes off and replace it , wen applying new 1 just put it down and turn clock wise until tight 👍
Great video once again, quick question when I flush there seems to be no suction in the lever I have to lift it up and try again, it works but there still seems it only has half flush? Any advice would be appreciated.

Do you ever have any use for self amalgamating tape in plumbing?
No not really.

Thanks for the great tips.
Mine is very slow but I don't have any of those features. Could it be the black diaphragm! Does that get blocked with limescale or whatever?
No, it will be a filing problem
@@dereton33 Filing? Loose filings in the system? There's been no work done on the system for years.

I think you have CCTV in my house😂. Every video is my latest problem!
Ha ha good timing then Camille.
My toilet was filling up slowly but fix know but makes a judging noise at the end when it filled up
Slow the water rate down via the isolation valve.
