Just rewatching this video, and had to laugh when you mentioned the volcanic area in Grindavik that could also be devastating. It really is amazing how quickly things can change in Iceland
When mankind beats their chest over how important and significant they are to the world, Iceland lets them know in no uncertain terms how utterly *insignificant* we truly are. For me personally, the expanses are very beautiful and awe-inspiring, yet extremely frightening at the same time. I suppose being a city-dweller in the U.S. has a lot to do with that fear. I also felt so lonely as you drove down that deserted highway. I didn't give much thought to Iceland until after subscribing to your channel. Really enjoying it, thank you!
Great road trip! Thank You Valur, Art and Polly for taking us along with you! Really enjoyable. What a lovely surprise to see icebergs at the end! Beautiful Iceland! 🇮🇸 Stay safe! 🙏
Iceland is such a serene place. We were interested in the little side tours off the main road which you could show next time. What is called a “ road” in Iceland is worse than the worst cottage road you’ve ever experienced in Ontario, Canada and we loved the adventure! Also how everyone refers to the natural beauty of Iceland as “the nature” with that calm Icelandic accent. There is a sense of freedom in Iceland that we have not found anywhere else. Miss their drinking water too -it’s the best!
Your country is my paradise in earth. Went twice, once on my own, will maybe return in May to get a glimpse of the active volcano. Keep up the great work 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Road trip to Vik was great! As I recall during our 1979 trip, pavement ended just outside of reykjavik and for the most part or definitely past Eden. Some of the road bridges were out of commission so we went across marked stream crossing. Seemed to have visited every waterfall on South Coast. Too much fun!
What a wonderful empty land. As you sat on the road, the silence seemed all encompassing. My mind has been made for me. I must see these miracles with my own eyes. Thank you muchly.
Valur, thanks for showing us the south again. As every other tourist, we stopped in Vik i Myrdal and watched the bay from the church. Good to hear that Iceland is doing better with the virus than any other country.
How random is this some cool ass dude in Iceland is now my favorite person to watch on television.... quote unquote television. You seem very genuine and I just like the way you are on TV you guys are doing a great job keep it up!
Rocking that Logan MCV. That was my first car ... when road-tripping in Iceland. Now I got back every year and run trips for people. It's amazing. And this video is like ASMR to me!
Totally. All of these Icelandic TH-camrs, including the foreigners who have moved there, have done an excellent job of showing the world this wonderful country and people. I hope your government what an asset you are to Iceland. All of the volcano videos, the videos about the land, videos about the people have so made me want to visit. When I can, I definitely will. Iceland looks like a great place to live - with a great friendly culture. Thank you.
Stunningly beautiful country, but as the old saying goes, "I wouldn't want to live there." It is so much easier to look at the beauty from my 25C degree weather! Kudos to Art as well. I am not a videographer, but I appreciate good work. Art is a real pro. What strikes me most about Iceland, mostly from the volcano videos I have watched, is that the natives are so mellow, unlike much of America. I am now hooked on The Reykjavik Grapevine channel!
Great tour and fantastic views, bluffs, waterfalls and land/ volcano topography unique for Iceland. Thanks for sharing and indeed educational as well. Need to really have a visit again as landing at airport for many hours years ago, a connection to Denmark, not enough time to really explore. Especially now, with the March '2021 birth of the volcano (unofficial name) "Bob" and expanded family of vents still active! Wow WHAT activity there!! Cheers!
What a great video. Thanks for sharing, you live in a beautiful but also harsh county . Thanks for you latest volcano video updates . Doing a great job !
Watching this in June 2021, it was interesting to hear your comment on the volcanic region near Grindavik. I bet you would never have imagined that one year later it would have become such a large part of your life. You have such a beautiful country, and I really like the character of the people, particularly the somewhat dark sense of humour. I hope to pay a visit someday soon.
2017 Tucker Gott was there with friends flying over and through the mountains on their para gliders. Absolutely stunning videos on his web site. It's a magical area to be sure.
I live in Phoenix Arizona where the temperature is 110. I enjoy watching you and your beautiful dog, walking around your Iceland. Is she a border collie? Have you seen those talk buttons for your animal friends to use to talk to their humans friends?
Is it terrible that I watch this with the subtitles on, just so I can laugh at them trying to understand your accent and Icelandic words? "scuff the fat like ass" Dying over here laughing. Thanks so much for the entertainment :)
Really enjoyed seeing so many Icelandic places we’ve visited. But we still never got the pronunciation down. SURE WISH, Valar (?) would SLOW-DOWN with pronunciation of areas of interest. It’s better if we visit again, if we can halfway say the words intelligibly. Still, all-all, Iceland 🇮🇸 is the most amazing hidden treasure of the 🌎!
Sat there having lunch with the ladies looking like a dude! Makes a change from the romper-stompers and winter coat.. Loving these videos on icelandic life and traditions etc.. Its a bit of a mad place compared to most icy remotes.
The landscape is beautiful but the life is not easy at all! The main us the freedom you enjoy and the beautiful of the nature. Do you have crimes ? Or there are thieves ?... Stupid questions but are part of the life.
I enjoy your what you are showing but ..... please stop using the work 'like' it is really quite annoying. You just have to made a conscious decision to stop doing it.

Did this journey in 1996. Did not see another car for two days. Best holiday ever
Yep, us too. We thought we’d never see humans again, it was so beautifully isolated.

I suppose 'heavenly' is the apt word for Iceland's natural and artistic beauty!! This series is too cool to handle.
Valur, really enjoy your style of travelogue 👍. Much appreciated!

Thanks for taking me around the wilds of Iceland. Your country is stunningly beautiful.
Thank you. Very beautiful country

Random or not, we appreciate your interest in us! 😆

Thank you for showing Vik! I was planning to go there in March...
Love you guys!
Love seeing Iceland through your eyes! Keep up the great work.
Thank you! Will do!
Wonderful! Left Iceland on Mar 13, when it was still too snowy to drive that far. Thanks for sharing 😊❤
Love your site. You are very enthusiastic and personable. Thank you👍🤩
This is so cool. I want to learn icelandic. The country is amazing.
yes i am going to iceland asap
Started watching your news updates about the eruption and ended up going down the rabbit hole to the travel videos. You make me want to visit Iceland!
Lol..me too. Stunning country
Same here! :D
You must do it!! Iceland is like heaven on earth. It will take your breath away!! 🇮🇸💕🙏
So true. It was the same for me as well. Just came to see the volcano and now I'm immersed in Iceland's culture. Fascinating! 😉

Thank you! This was one of my favorite areas on y trip in 2019.. stunningly gorgeous!
Beautiful! I'm loving this series of videos. Thank you.
Absolutely beautiful countryside. Thank you for the ride.
Thank you for that adventure. Maybe someday. 🍻

Glad to hear it!! He does manage to capture some incredible shots.
We made this road trip in 2014, drove all the way around Route 1. This video makes me want to do it again.
Great video, very informative. I shall be visiting your country in June
WOW ,stunning. I had no idea.
I’ve always been fascinated by Iceland, one day I will visit.
Greetings from a Brit living in Romania, the birthplace of your car 🇷🇴🇬🇧👍🏻🤣
That was great. I would like to go hiking and exploring in Iceland. Must investigate.

The language is fascinating, love to spend some time in Iceland immersing in the language and culture. Oh and the landscape is pretty epic too!
Good road trip. The glacier field was gorgeous.
Loving this insiders view of Iceland. Making me want to come back yet again :)
Never been to your beautiful country but I’m beginning to love it and wanting to visit soon🙏

Hi,mountain scenery very beautyful..
Steam (not smoke) from hydrothermal systems. Also love the auto English subtitles substituting Icelandic names. 🤣
Trees! 15 min in. Beautiful waterfall. Private farm. Trees.
Wow! Splendid effort....very good.

Please make more of these!
the series is really nice and well directed. By any chance, do you guys plan to show the highlands, Sprengisandur area?
Polly is a star!!
Surprised Icelanders use disposable coffee cups since it's such a pristine country/island
Wooow! What is the name of the last place near the bridge? It’s all amazing! Iceland is extremely beautiful 😍
It's Jökulsárlón. Glad you like it!
I don't see any trees, why? Werry nice video !
It’s sounds like Fracking which people protested against it in the UK they force water at high pressure underground and it cause mini earthquakes.
Video on how to play "Olsen Olsen"? Pretty please?
That is a hilarious idea! Thanks Franky. We'll look into it.
@@TheReykjavikGrapevine Thanks for explaining it in your new issue!
Until now I've only heard of the highlands in Scotland,so I'm intrigued to learn Iceland has them as well. Also is your pup a boarder Collie?
Did valur say that iit gets dark in iceland at around 11oclock.
12:40 you can see the vulcanos now :D
Is it terrible that I watch this with the subtitles on, just so I can laugh at them trying to understand your accent and Icelandic words? "scuff the fat like ass" Dying over here laughing. Thanks so much for the entertainment :)

Volcanoes erupting? Near Grindavík? Are you sure?
Fracking, not tracking!!

Closed captions really seems to struggle with Icelandic, none more so than at 15:56
Earthquakes from tracking!
just curious in how many days you can drive around iceland?
why are you speaking English to the receptionist in the hotel?
Me too!
What was the secret you told, Valur?
What was the secret you had to tell at the card game, Valur?
12:47 lol you didn´t knock on wood
I can't imagine anyone writing a nasty comment about Valur or Iceland.
Highlands????
auto subtitles.. gives u pretty funny words that is transcribed trying to understand all icelandic names..
But what was your secret ? you lost, didn't you?
You guys should introduce a few bears to keep the human population down.
The tricky golf feraly hum because edger problematically coach against a fascinated fedelini. efficient, fantastic chick
These are great videos. But one suggestion. Don't say "like" so often. Like this, like that, like something else. Say what it is. not what its "like".
I enjoy your what you are showing but ..... please stop using the work 'like' it is really quite annoying. You just have to made a conscious decision to stop doing it.
