Love how this guy is not a dramaqueen like most people today. Vulcano erupts, drives away, little filming, time to fill up, vulcano erupting in the background, 'filling up your car is a bit different on iceland.'
Great video. Very well choreographed. I have driven people quite often to and from the Silica Hotel but never stayed there, so very interesting for me to see inside. I love seeing your honest opinions. I´m one of the locals that have been agains them being allowed to operate in the area while there is a very high chance of imminent eruption. I mean the area was marked inside a orange danger zone, and they are having business opened for tourist. I have been waiting for it to erupt any minute in the last 3 weeks. Though the eruption was where they estimated, they can never be 100% sure. I mean the magma chamber is underneath the Blue Lagoon area at around 5 km / 3 miles dept. The road you are driving at around 21:43 is all under lava now. It went over the road about 6 hours after you left. The lava went as close to the the front door of the hotel as about roughly 600 meters or about 0.38 miles. The Berm Wall was between, but still. The lava did not hit the berm wall but was very close to it. I doubt that anybody told you this. But in the last 3 months, or since novemer 10th when all the earthquakes happend. The land in Svartsengi, where the powerplant is, sunk by about 35 cm / 14 inches and since then it has it has risen again from that point about 55 cm / 22 inches (It sunk a little bit after each eruption). So there have been a lot of movement in the land there. Also, the land around the town of Grindavík (The town that have been evacuated) few km south from there. There is a point West and East of the town, and those point have been spliting apart about 3 meters / 10 feet now since november. I dont yet have numbers since this eruption.
I’d been watching the daily reports and the web cameras since this started in November. There’s been discussion all along that the Blue Lagoon had been taking chances. They were let’s say less than intelligent to have stayed open when this last eruption was imminent (I watched the road get overcome with lava quickly two hours after you drove off; it was stunning how fast that lava moved - totally different than the lava in the earlier eruptions). And I think that those people who stayed there at that time were equally less than intelligent. Yeah, you got great film, but if the fissure pattern had been a bit different, you would have had no way out of that area - the road would have been gone. This is a Darwin Award level video (and by the way, I’ve been there; I hiked up to the first eruption in June 2021, so I’m not armchair quarterbacking this).
Currently, there is no opening leading from the magma reservoir 7Km below the surface leading straight upwards towards the blue lagoon. The only way for the magma to move currently is to the east into the dike where eruptions have been occurring. If the magma wanted to shoot straight up, it would need to break kilometers of solid rock. This could happen but it would take days and many strong earthquakes. So, the blue lagoon is much safer than you think.
I wouldn't bet money, let alone my safety, that they are being honest about the fissures and openings PRE Dec 23- let alone the dramatic new ones post. Darwin award indeed to believe they have no ulterior motives to downplay dangers, especially after the absurd level of denials from govt and "authorities on volcanoes in Iceland", then go into the zones. Downright Machiavellian at this point to tell OTHERS it is safe to go.
sadly not as the peninsular has woken up and these eruptions have been frequently erupting every 3 weeks this one was the second eruption from the same spot as the first one just with more lava coming out. they dont know if this type of event will last months, years decades or hundreads of years and the last time the peninsular erupted was 800 years ago and it was a long episode of many eruptions some big, some small.

Great experience, expensive but you will never forget it. I was stationed at Subic Naval Base, Philippines went MT Pinitubo blew for 3 days. That was a big eruption! Totally destroyed Clark Air Base. As a follow up - the Blue Lagoon and hotels are now basically cut off for the general public as the lava flowed over the main road and up the blue lagoon road. There is another way in from the south but that is from the town of Grindavik which is closed. And the lava also melted the pipe that supplies hot water to the rest of the towns on the peninsula, including Keflavik. As Iceland uses this hot water supply for heating people are having to use very limited electric heating (and no hot water for washing) until the new pipe is in place…

probably not going to Grindavík. The government is going to buy the owners out of their houses. It's not looking good for people being able to live there

Also if you want to eat on a budget, eat the soups, they are very hearty and usually best value for money.

Not something you would expect on a day to day basis and I bet you will never forget it. It did look absolutely insane! Just glad you got out of there and are now safe Tim. Thanks for another brilliant video 😁
He even says in the start that it was expected though? 😆 It has been all over the news for a while now here in Sweden. Love the blue lagoon, stayed there 2018. ”Ni still water?” The Tap-water is really good here in the north!
Experienced this in Hawwaii and then phones go off and a message ICBM missile incoming this is not a drill...great fun. Also hiked out to the lave flowing into the ocean on the Big Island a few years ago. Incredible heat even from the "cooled down" lava rock. We stayed a safe distance away from the flow.
Exceptional vlog thx Tim! Knowing the roads well, surely the scariest part for you was having to drive TOWARDS the eruption before reaching the main road and being able to turn away to the north...only hours later that road was comprehensively engulfed by lava flow. Wow.
Great review as always Tim.....not sure if its just me but what an utterly bizarre place!!! Awesome footage of the eruption though and crazy that it happened on the exact night/morning you stayed there.
I wouldn’t call that stay a disaster Tim. You likely won’t ever experience anything like that again. Most volcanic eruptions in Iceland aren’t particularly explosive so you were fine and not really in any immediate danger. The reason these fissure eruptions happen so much in Iceland is because the country is tearing itself in half and being filled in with magma, so Iceland is getting bigger and bigger. You can see where it is splitting on satellite maps if you look closely. I believe the splitting rate is about 2cm a year. 🙂
Hi Tim glad you got out of the hotel and away safely. What a way to be woken up by the emergency alarm and to drive a hire car right past the volcano erupting throwing out lava. What a scene of lava in the back ground at the airport. The hotel and room looked lovely.
This is going to be like watching one of those Disaster movies! But its not a movie it really happened. What an unforgettable thing to have been there Tim! I hope people weren't injured & everyone was evacuated to safety!
what an experience with the siren after 6am, in pitch black morning. amazing video, i was breath-holding when you had the vulcano lava running after you in the side mirror of your car. well done for that. thank you
WOW, What a wake up call. Not every day you get woken up by a volcanic eruption near your hotel. Hotel looks very nice but certainly very expensive. And now the access road to the hotel is covered in Lava too 😪 Great video as always 😃
What a well stitched together video . Certainly went into depth of what the Blue Lagoon is all about . I been watching the Iceland eruptions since Fagradalsfjall in 2021 , so watching Eruptions is not new to me . But omg you sure has a bit of a shock . Everyone has their eyes on on your digital dash clock lol . And you got so good footage of the 3rd eruption very shortly after it first fissured . Not long after that a Giant Lava Spaghetti monster wound it's way and destroyed some valuable hot water pipelines . . The prices omg ! Design yes and comfort . But many have been questioning the Decision making by the Managers and above of the Blue Lagoon . Clearly putting Profit before the safety of people . An excellent video 👏 👏
I was there with a friend at the end of last month. So lucky to have avoided this, we were told if the volcano went off they’d evacuate us all 😬 glad you’re okay, Tim. Love your videos 😊
Oh my goodness, another top video, thank you Tim. To be there when the volcano went off must have been scary - but what a once in a lifetime experience!!
I am planning on visiting Iceland so this was great to see. I am enjoying your videos, this was exceptionally well done. Glad you're safe, looking forward to more adventures.
My fiancé took me to Iceland for my birthday and the blue lagoon was stunning. Must have been so scary with that volcanic activity. Only if you’ve been to Iceland can you appreciate the geothermal nature. It’s just such a breathtaking place and atmosphere.
This was an incredible video. I loved your honest hotel review as you were trying the various services and facilities, but the way you reacted so relatively calmly from the eruption onward, that was quite cool as well.
What an amazing experience, blue lagoon added to my bucket list! the volcanic eruption whilst terrifying to see it so close to your hotel room, its a once in a lifetime experience to see. The air raid alarm though would have scared the hell out of me at 6am in the morn. Fantastic vid
😮 I stayed in Iceland 🇮🇸 last February 2023 and we loved our visit to the Blue Lagoon 👌 Can't wait go back there as that place is amazing, fingers crossed the lava doesn't break it's way through, Thanks for doing this video Tim 👌 To actually see the eruption accor must have been breath taking to see but nerve-racking at the same time.
Wow- what an experience you had in Iceland . The eruption looks amazing but I am pleased you made it out in one piece. I do think it’s very overpriced but also Iceland is known for being very expensive. Great video Tim.👍
Had this video recommended to me a bit over a week ago and have been watching all your videos since. Super entertaining and great filming work, really enjoy the videos, thanks Tim!
And just a few hours after you drove away from the Blue Lagoon the road you used was covered by the lava flow! Resort itself was spared (at least for now).

Glad you got out of Iceland safe!!! I am on my cell phone commenting but watching you on TH-cam on TV touring Lapland! Love your channel. Cute family also. Take Care. Thanks for the videos. 😁 💞
That's been great fun to watch! I enjoyed the Blue Lagoon's waters a few years back, but even though it's a fantastic memory, it wasn't quite that intense! Lucky you!
I enjoyed your your perspective about your stay at the hotel and visit to Blue Lagoon. I knew of course that you would probably awaken to the eruption already under way and you handled well without stressing. It would interesting to see whete else you visit. From New Mexico, USA wishing you well.
It was great watching this. I was in the Blue Lagoon with my wife in 2001. We had just been married a year when we went from Germany to Iceland. We spent two weeks there driving around but never saw a volcano erupt. However, as we were there on September 11, 2001, we had a different experience that I will also never forget. Whereby, you cannot ever forget Iceland anyway.
Amazing! I am following the Iceland-situation for the last few month out of Switzerland. And you being there exactly during the third eruption is just unreal. Thanks for covering it.

you were so lucky to be there in that pool all alone! OMG I would have been swimming around on my back for at least an hour. And so lucky to be there for that eruption! Suddenly the room has a view!
Such a stunning place! I would love to go in the blue lagoon but think I'd be too scared! The alarm at 6am must have been terrifyingly but what an experience and thing to capture on camera. Glad you're safe
WOW! That is something you don't experience everyday let alone EVER for most of us. Curious to know if any of that area was damaged in any way. Such a beautiful resort but darn expensive. Thank you for sharing this spectacular experience. When I heard the siren, my blood pressure when up a notch. That had to be scary. Beautiful footage of that massive firewall. WOW, just WOW!

Love the blue lagoon, stayed there 2018.
”Ni still water?” The Tap-water is really good here in the north!
And what is it with shoes inside? 😄
@@CJLinOHIO
It didn't get to the lagoon it only lasted around 24 hours and got far enough to take out the hot water pipeline to Grindevic (spelling?)
“Swing with me Tim”
Glad you’re safe and sound. Great review.
I’d swing with him …. Hahahah
I would never want to be around when a air raid goes off you are brave!! So glad you got out of there and home safe !!!
That was a spectacular end to your trip. You could never plan for it. It looks so safe but unsafe. Amazing.
Wow what an incredible experience! The blue lagoon, volcano, your saw it all! Brilliant video!
Exceptional vlog thx Tim! Knowing the roads well, surely the scariest part for you was having to drive TOWARDS the eruption before reaching the main road and being able to turn away to the north...only hours later that road was comprehensively engulfed by lava flow. Wow.
Yes ! I thought that too !
Great review as always Tim.....not sure if its just me but what an utterly bizarre place!!!
Awesome footage of the eruption though and crazy that it happened on the exact night/morning you stayed there.
That was a brilliant video, you are a natural presenter and I love your sense of humour. Glad you got out ok after your early morning scare!
Maybe to him it was. You weren't there.
@@adtrent right, coming from the guy writing his comment from behind a computer in another country lol
OMG Tim, my heart was pumping when the hotel woke you up to leave the hotel. I'm very happy you and / or the staff got away, ok.
Possibly the most genuinely terrifying travel vlog I’ve ever seen. Just wow. 🔥 Glad you’re safe . 👍🏼
Thanks , how things in Mallorca
@@WalkWithMeTim pretty laidback here in comparison to your latest video 😜
WOW - what an amazing footage! Glad that you were ok.
what an experience with the siren after 6am, in pitch black morning. amazing video, i was breath-holding when you had the vulcano lava running after you in the side mirror of your car. well done for that. thank you
Hope you are now in a place of safety, Tim. Safe travels home.
thanks
WOW, What a wake up call. Not every day you get woken up by a volcanic eruption near your hotel. Hotel looks very nice but certainly very expensive. And now the access road to the hotel is covered in Lava too 😪 Great video as always 😃
So calm and absolutely amazing close up footage! Good for you and glad your safe!
Surpised the title wasn't 'I stayed in a hotel near a volcano - I was SHOCKED!!!'
Epic video! What an experience and wake up call! Always good honest information on your channel😊
wow!
Iceland is my special place, I absolutely love it there.
What footage you have! 🌋
I was there with a friend at the end of last month. So lucky to have avoided this, we were told if the volcano went off they’d evacuate us all 😬 glad you’re okay, Tim. Love your videos 😊
Holy smokes!!!! That's a rude awakening but so fascinating at the same time. Glad you were safe and they have a good procedure for their guests.
Absolutely amazing work with recording your experience here and with a VOLCANO no less! Thanks for walking with us all, Tim 😎
That was a crazy experience for sure! Look how the lava oozed and showcased a very bright and angry red color! That's scary! 😱😱
Oh my goodness, another top video, thank you Tim. To be there when the volcano went off must have been scary - but what a once in a lifetime experience!!
Not in Iceland that’s a twice a month experience at this point !! ❤
@@hulda4ever In the area this has happened in the last 2 years 5 to 6 times and it had to happen for over 800 years
@@antonio39776 I know everything about it. I live here
I am planning on visiting Iceland so this was great to see.
It scared the .. out of me
😮 I stayed in Iceland 🇮🇸 last February 2023 and we loved our visit to the Blue Lagoon 👌
Can't wait go back there as that place is amazing, fingers crossed the lava doesn't break it's way through, Thanks for doing this video Tim 👌
To actually see the eruption accor must have been breath taking to see but nerve-racking at the same time.
Wow- what an experience you had in Iceland . The eruption looks amazing but I am pleased you made it out in one piece. I do think it’s very overpriced but also Iceland is known for being very expensive. Great video Tim.👍
Iceland. Was a rip off when I went and I would never return but how terrifying fantastic to see a live volcanic eruption! Amazing footage!!
Had this video recommended to me a bit over a week ago and have been watching all your videos since. Super entertaining and great filming work, really enjoy the videos, thanks Tim!
Awesome, thank you!
And just a few hours after you drove away from the Blue Lagoon the road you used was covered by the lava flow! Resort itself was spared (at least for now).
I know I was on the iceland national news lol
If you book yourself into the Volcano House Hotel at Kilauea volcano on Hawaii soon you might get lucky and get a sequel@@WalkWithMeTim 🌋😀
@@WalkWithMeTim Oh I wish we could see that! All your subscribers would feel like insiders, like: "Oh we know Tim", ha!
.....what an experience. Truly amazing to think your hotel was that close.
Epic video😲🌋
My sons (5 and 2) are joining me for this! Its so exciting. Thank you, Tim!!
Now we're going to rewatch some Walk with me favourites 😆 love Fridays!

Wow ! What an experience ! You'll never encounter that again ! Loved the pools !
Absolutely beautiful place especially blue lagoon. Absolute terrific experience of the volcanic activity. Glad you got out safely
I'm so jealous... when I was in Iceland I hoped to see what you experienced. Grindavik is beautiful. Glad you're safe. I'm pretty sure this'll go viral!
Hi Tim! I seen a reference to this video on another channel. It was featured on "On The Pulse With Silki". She has been covering the volcanic activity at Iceland. The best thing is, I discovered your channel! 😁 Your video was Amazing and Scary too. 😮 But, since then, I have watched a LOT of your videos and have Subscribed. Love your travels and videos. Glad you got out of Iceland safe!!! I am on my cell phone commenting but watching you on TH-cam on TV touring Lapland! Love your channel. Cute family also. Take Care. Thanks for the videos.
😁 💞
thanks .. welcome to the channel
Wow! As dangerous as that was it looks quite cool. Glad your all ok though.
So cool! I stayed 4 nights at the retreat and it was an experience of a lifetime. Worth every penny!
That's been great fun to watch! I enjoyed the Blue Lagoon's waters a few years back, but even though it's a fantastic memory, it wasn't quite that intense! Lucky you!
Blooming heck Tim! What an experience 😮
This is one review ILL NEVER FORGET especially when you see lava right near the airport from waiting lounge
yes was so crazy
You are famous now. Top commentator on iceland situation referring people to your video
Wow... just Wow! That must have been the most surreal experience! 😮
I wont soon forget it
Amazing! I am following the Iceland-situation for the last few month out of Switzerland. And you being there exactly during the third eruption is just unreal. Thanks for covering it.
I'm glad you're safe, Tim!😊👍👏👏❤️
Yes, thank you
Praise the lord! @@WalkWithMeTim
Wow im so glad I found your channel, i cant wait to check out your playlist, this is awesome thank you. Yes i think the blue lagoon was a little too plain for me also, but the lagoon amenities itself seems incredible. Thanks for all the great info! ❤ New subscriber here for sure! ❤
wonderful video, was really enjoying the property... glad you were safe and calm, at least what you showed ha
Wow how frightening that must have been. 😱 Glad you were in the hotel safe and sound.
Watching from Lagos Nigeria enjoy your channel. And this episode,,,🤯. I like the hotel room it will be easy to keep clean
This has to be the best vlog on TH-cam ever ~ talk about a dramatic ending!!! I visited Iceland (from Canada 🇨🇦) & The Blue Lagoon more than a decade ago. (not the resort, I stayed with family❤️) We spent several hours there & it was truly Heaven on Earth! Thanks Tim!
Wow, thank you!
That volcano view @ 6am though, AMAZING! So lucky to have been there to see it.
Absolute belter episode! It’s gone straight into my top 3 Walk With Me Tim episodes!
What are the other two of ur top three pls ? I’ve just discovered this channel. Would love see what you particularly enjoyed 🙂
This video has to go viral Tim wow hope your home relaxing after all that stress
That was just amazing. We love your show. Thank you once again.
only Tim would go when there is an eruption 🌋 being anticipated 😂
Hi Tim ! Me and my wife have been watching you for the last few years but have only just got around to subscribing ! I don't know how some of the major TV channels haven't snapped you up as a presenter ! You and Gaby are so talented and seem a really lovely couple ! Please never stop doing what you are doing ! Best wishes K & D
You definitely know how to make them interesting Tim. How do you do it 😆👍
lol
Wow Tim, that was one amazing vlog. On one hand, loved the Blue Lagoon, hotel, views and geology, filmed to your usual amazing standard, but the volcano, oh my word. You were so calm and did brilliantly in the get away hire car. 😂. Loved it, but so glad you have returned safely to your lovely family. Fantastic Tim, well done. 😊 xx
Believe me I was scared but understand I was not in immediate danger.. but it was very close to the hotel
Tim you had me in stitches when you said about the shower. Comedy Gold Tim!! Love your sense of humour, don’t ever change.
“You can have a few people standing around watching if you want” then your expression after you said it 😂😂😂
That Volcano 🌋 wow! Priceless totally worth the price of admission. Once in a lifetime event😮
you were so lucky to be there in that pool all alone!
Glad you're safe
it was Liz , freaked me out I won't soon forget
Lava from this eruption has actually flowed over the main road leading to the Blue Lagoon, so it's not likely to be open again any time soon!
That looked terrifying! 22:09
Tim must be the funniest English TH-camr. Always has me in hysterics
That is an excellent video! You captured the experience for us perfectly. Thanks.
I would stay there - and for your expirence, that price was nothing. This must have been amazing. And I noticed how all the Icelandic were so calm,- the viking blood, I guess
The people in Iceland are used to this sort of thing happening.
