My heart really hurts to see the most beautiful place like this but no matter how it's looks it will never break the spirit of the country ❤ I love Iceland
Thank you Roman. This drone footage is an eye opener. I understand why the police chief warns against bringing children here. Lots of hazards and potential hazards. I wish and pray for the best for the people of Grindavik.
The amazing thing about Grindavik is its clean design ,open spaces that flow easy on the daily commute ,this video is like saying goodbye to a loved friend, thank you for sharing ,beautiful town, beautiful music ,keep safe !
❤ What a beautiful video, but also very sad to 😢😢🥺 poor beautiful Grindavik 😢 I wish and hope Grindavik will recover soon and get back in business ♥️♥️ Thank you for sharing this beautiful video 🙏🙏 Greetings from Norway 🇳🇴 I love Iceland 🇮🇸
Thank you for sharing this. It adds to our understanding of what Iceland has been experiencing. Seeing it is extraordinary and very, very sad. Iceland's citizens have the utmost in courage, I think, putting up with seemingly endless tension and what we feel must be endless noise from the heating and moving world beneath the earth's surface. Brave people.
It is so sad to see the lovely Grindavik looking like this. It is so hard to see any long-term future for the town. A town can be replaced and rebuilt - people cannot. Love to ALL who used to live there - or knew people who did. ♥ A beautifully-shot video with gorgeous music which fits.
Simply breathtaking! Thank you for sharing these wonderful moments with us. Your videos are true sources of inspiration and ignite curiosity to explore the world. Greetings from @nami-vlog!!! 🌍💜💜💜👍
Heartbreaking. I have spent many days walking along those streets, eating in those restaurants, relaxing on the benches near the Pagan temple. Beautiful video, thank you for sharing.
Every time I see or think of Grindavik, I remember the poor, hard-working soul who fell into the hole he was trying to fill and did not come back. Is that spot marked in any way as a reminder and a memorial? I would travel from the USA to visit and pay my respects.
nice choice of music...some of those holes and cracks look to be pretty deep....I some efforts have been made to fill some of them up....I would definitely move back there if I was a former resident.....
Thanks for sharing. I feel sad this situation was creeated November 10th last year crippling the town severely. I stayed in Grindavik twice, one time for visiting the 2021 Fagardalsfjall eruption and again in 2023 for the Litli Hrutur eruption...
This town has grown since I visited in 1981. It seems sad so much is being lost. The residents are so resilient to be able to prosper living next to a force of nature.
Well filmed, appropriate music, but such sad images. I just about glimpsed the hotel I stayed when we visited in 2021, near the end; though I’m unsure if it can have survived the last year. Thank you and please keep documenting Grindavik for us.
That would be a novel idea, rebuild it as a Town beneath the sea. The Town is sinking. The harbour is an actual fissure that lets the water roll in. I believe some minor repairs may be possible but saving the whole Town will not be possible and logically maybe should be considered not safe as the fissures are volcanic and no scientist seems able to predict with a hundred per cent certainty where the next lava fountain eruption will occure. But on the bight side there is always other locations.
I wonder if Gridavik could be relocated to a safer and suitable part of the coast. I mean move the buildings and anything else that can be made portable. I've seen people move whole houses here in the U.S. It is a lot to move, but I would bet Iceland could get some financial and practical help from around the world. It would be nice to save something BEFORE it gets swept away.
Yo, I think them ancient vikings had the right idea back in the day, primarily relying on their ships, exploring the world, living with the changing seasons and literal land changes. What remains of them as a culture is not found on Iceland, I've always wondered on this. I think permanent settlement on these lands is just extremely risky... and with how expensive we make life out to be for ourselves.... i just feel sad seeing Grindavik man. It's never gonna be stable for this type of city planning.
The crack or multiple cracks were in Grindavik on the 1957 Town Map but houses need to be built, they could have built around the crack which they mostly did for private housing but Government gave them planning for new builds in 2022 so much compensation is due to all.
Hi Roman, I have an idea! What about putting all your volcano and lava videos together to make one video film and then getting the Tourist Hotels to show it in their bars? The hotels can pay for the internet and it will be interesting for the tourists and local people too. You will have a continued income from it too. 😁👀 Your videos are excellent so it seems a waste not to show them. 🙂
Sad for the town and people. How could you feel safe to return not knowing your kids might run around and fall into an unknown fissure and not knowing if there will be more eruptions causing more damage. Truly sad looks like it was a great town and wonderful community.
Out of curiosity when does Iceland usually get its first snow? I have always thought that you got winter before most of us in the mid latitudes. (I'm near the 49th parallel)
The closest I came to anything like this was the 89 earthquake while living in the San Francisco Bay area. It is rough. In some ways less bad (except for certain locations), in some ways worse (people died). But the same shock and helplessness in the face of planet earth at work. 😢
I don't think that area is safe at all, with all those holes and cracks in the ground. Would not want to raise children there any more: the chance of one falling in is just too big. So many hopes and dreams ruined by this event. What got me though is that crack straight through the middle of what Google Maps says is a Viking temple. I don't know if it really is an archaeological site or just some tourist trap thing, but the alignment is pretty darn accurate.
Sad thing, it is only a question of time until the city will be obliterated by the volcanic system, when is currently unknown but it will happen that is for sure.
City on the brink. Hopefully the eruptions / earthquakes will trend away from town and fishing port / industry will prosper even if many of the citizens may never return. PS - we use to get fresh cod from Grindavik for the Friday and Saturday nights USO fish fry at the US Naval Air Station Keflavik when the NATO base was operating
why would anyone want to live there or even visit - those could literally be under any structure or walkway - remember the video of the man walking and fell through the ground and the workman who fell into the crack that was being filled
Amazing and best view but unfortunately the town seems to be the main fisher of volcanic eruption in future. May Almighty Allah save the residents safe and sound with right belief being the creation of humanity by our Creator the Supreme Power of the Universe Allah/God to obey His commands.
Thank you for the video, I was wondering how the town was doing. I could have done without the music however, it was just noise and seemed out of place
What?! That is a very rude comments to Iceland. Please show respect to beautiful Iceland country. Kamala has nothing to do with this video. Please leave politics out of this videos. Thanks!
The video is eerie, melancholy and filled with uncertainty. A town wounded and scarred with tiny glimmers of continued life. Thank you.

A lovely video of your drone footage. You are a master at capturing moments and adding beautiful music. Stay safe and warm.❤
Composer Max Richter wrote a beautiful piece used here. “On the nature of daylight”. Very somber -very foreboding. .

I couldn't resist to take a look myself last week. It was such a strange feeling to walk around this town again. Great footage you made!
So sorry for the people of this beautiful area.
Its sad, but I hope people have realized, this is not our domain. We are merely temporary tenants.
Thank you Roman love your footage, stay safe in Iceland.
Heartbreaking. I have spent many days walking along those streets, eating in those restaurants, relaxing on the benches near the Pagan temple. Beautiful video, thank you for sharing.
Thank you, Roman. The power of nature and the unfortunate price we pay for the ever changing Earth.
Nature can change our lives any moment.
Great video
Saddened for all
Im sad for the people as a whole and hope things will calm down thank you
It's sad but the whole place is a death trap, you could walk almost anywhere there and the ground could give way beneath you.
Thats not really true. There are cracks in certain places. But not all over town.
The cities evacuated yet the lights are still on in hundreds of places. There are a handful of cars and even a bus route. Fascinating.
Excellent work! Thank you
Thank you nice work I enjoyed the video

yup. me too. prayers to his friends, co-workers, and family. I am sure he missed.

Grindavik seems to be on borrowed time. But I'd like to be wrong. Very interesting video.
🙏🙏🙏
Wow! That is so sad. I love your music choice!
Sad to see that. 😢. Hope everyone is okay

so sad. it's like seeing a young love now suffering in agony. I stayed in Grindavik for 2 weeks in September 2023.
Yo, I think them ancient vikings had the right idea back in the day, primarily relying on their ships, exploring the world, living with the changing seasons and literal land changes. Thanks!

So now the buildings you were flying directly over, those are empty? Abandoned in place?
It just shows the power of Mother Earth. Volcanism created this town and port and volcanism has taken it away.

Not just fissures, but vertical displacement -- looked like more than 1 meter in some locations
it's not soo different from what the community in california is dealing with. The land is changing. Edgar Cayce said as much would come to pass.....
Thoughtful
New fissures? Or old?
Tolles Drohnen Video, Situation dort kommt gut rüber. Musik leider viel viel zu dramatisch.
Sorry to see how shaky and dangerous Iceland is getting....
Wow.
I totally forgot about this, evidently there hasn't been any new eruptions for a while
Sad thing, it is only a question of time until the city will be obliterated by the volcanic system, when is currently unknown but it will happen that is for sure.
Good thing I warned them and gave them the safe Locations
perfect for Halloween
hmmm maybe building a new town next to an active Volcano wasnt such a smart idea lol
Let no magma to find its way to these cracks.

Time for Grindavik to be permanently abandoned?
Why are there still lights in a dead zone?
Бедный Гриндавик. Может совсем уйти под землю.
No word's 😮 nature does it's thing!. What do we say about global warming, 🤔 Spain

So sad 😂. Where did the families move too?
Debbie, that is a laughing emoji
@wxchris2666 that's our Debbie😅
In fact one should not build on the ring of fire .
Thank you for the video, I was wondering how the town was doing. I could have done without the music however, it was just noise and seemed out of place
😢
grindavik
Sieht irgendwie auch trostlos aus.
And a trans flag ?
So sorry people of Grindavik. Lovely to see the trans flag there though, some hope in amongst the devastation.
Town basically has no future...GET OUT GET OUT...KAMALA...YOU ARE FIRED!
What?! That is a very rude comments to Iceland. Please show respect to beautiful Iceland country. Kamala has nothing to do with this video. Please leave politics out of this videos. Thanks!
