This is one of the BEST tutorial I ever stumble upon. I learn everything from internet so far (since 2005, from photoshop to after effect, 3dsmax, vray, sketchup, zbrush, clo, -millions other things- and blender) I watched countless hours of video tutorial. You are very good at this! Thank you very much.
No other instructor has gone to such depths, it has made me confident on using the amazing tool, the different handle options are so relevant, as i do use them in illustrator, but now have a better understanding with respect to blender. Thank you sir, god bless you
Very useful tutorial on bezier curves. Thank you very much.😀 I never knew that the scale tool can snap to vertex either. You must have spend lots of time in preparing you tutorials. They are very thoughtful and explained very well.👍
Very comprehensive and well explained. Very nice :).....At 19:41, the 2 points are selected but the handles are not, which contradicts a previous statement. :)
This is very helpful overall. One question, is there a simple way to edit a single 2D closed curve symmetrically? I'm trying to edit a curve to use as a profile along another curve and would like to do it symmetrically without having to copy and scale by -1 then move and join every time I change something to see the results.
I'm having difficulty reading the bezier handles. My handles are only a few pixels thick, making them very hard to read. In your video, your handles are a lot thicker and are much more readable. I set Blender's theme to Light Mode, which didn't help. What setting adjusts this? Is something the add-ons do? Also, I'm using Blender version 2.93. Thanks. EDIT: In case anyone else is struggling with hard to read handles, this is what I did: I uninstalled 2.93 and installed the latest version and made sure I was using Light Mode. That didn't do anything. I went into Edit > Preferences > Interface > Line Width > Thick. That's made things much more readable. It produces an appearance similar to this video.
@marcelthevirginian1656, Hi, Regarding the handles thickness, I find that you can adjust the Preferences > Themes > 3D Viewport > Edge Width to make the handles thicker. If you have not find out already.
No, it's the Light Blender Theme. It was the most current version of Blender at the time of recording. Bezier curves show up better in the light theme for tutorials.
In Edit mode, use the Curve Pen tool to add a point where you want the curve cut (Control click to add point). With that new point selected, press N to bring up sidebar options. In Edit tab --> Curve Edit panel, select Split at Vertex.
IF YOU HAD LOOKED CLOSELY, you would have noticed it was the most current version of Blender at the time I recorded it (3.5 or 3.6) but I was using the BLENDER LIGHT THEME, because bezier curves and curves in general show up better for tutorials than the standard dark theme.
I was pulling my hair out because snap wasn't working for me. It's because it snaps based on your CURSOR position, not the active point. So you need to position your cursor by the point you want to snap before hitting 'G'. Extremely frustrating.
That's a good question, there's likely a technical or mechanical drawing type add on out there considering the sheer number of add ons available. I'll do some looking.
It is a beautifully made tutorial. But coming from Rhino, this is my idea of hell. Blender is so complicated, especially in managing things like bezier that makes me wanna puke whilst having a head-splitting headache
if we want to snap something we don't need even to have snap mode on. All we need to do is drag the vertex while holding down the ctrl button.(We must have proper "Snap to" mode only)
I'm a complete beginner and this tutorial was so very helpful, thank you! Using the terminology and announcing the shortcuts as you went was very informative.
I never knew they added the pen… That’s what I’m use to from using Affinity Designer.. All that extrude stuff is tedious! Now I can make my icons easy!
I have never seen an explanation in this depth on this tool, with this explanation and explanation of each step، thanks for sharing this amazing content New sub 🎉
Love the Bezier curves...remember learning these for trying to make camera tracking for an object in early game dev college. Thanks for adding this video, mate! Subbed.
You have just saved me hours of messing with curves. I hated having to use them to make hydraulic pipes, its a real pain to make them look real. i have messed with them for ages and had no idea of V for auto, vector etc. Its now quite pleasing to use curves so thank you very much

This is the best guide of curves in Blender, period. Thanks for it.
No other instructor has gone to such depths, it has made me confident on using the amazing tool, the different handle options are so relevant, as i do use them in illustrator, but now have a better understanding with respect to blender.
Thank you sir, god bless you
I'm a noob with blender and have been struggling with Bézier curves... you have helped me tremendously... thank you!
Comming from 3DsMax, this is the first tutorial I have seen showing that curve tools in Blender are not full of bugs, but just very complicated! ;)
By far the best tutorial regarding curves for aspiring user blenders. That was deeply detailed. Hats off to you, sir!
Very useful tutorial on bezier curves. Thank you very much.😀 I never knew that the scale tool can snap to vertex either. You must have spend lots of time in preparing you tutorials. They are very thoughtful and explained very well.👍
Exactly, pure dedication, thorough reading of the manual and sheer hard work. Really enjoy the videos
I was very confused about using Bezier , Thanks for making the learning process so comprehensible
Amazing. Absolutely AMAZING! Thank you. Magnificent, jaw dropping tutorial. Again, thank you!
A fascinating explanation of a basic feature that rarely gets attention. Extremely useful. Thank you. Dg
An excellent tutorial, Chris. Really appreciate your very clear, concise, and calm presentation style. Very well done. Thank you!
superb tut. A lot of stuff I didn't have a clue of. Very useful thank you.
Solid Gold. Thanks for this awesome overview. Detailed, concise and super helpful!
Thanku..
No doubt..its the bestest tutorial on Curve topic..
This is really the best tutorial about blender curve, thank you very much!
What a great tutorial. Learned a lot. Thank you very much 🙏🙏
Thanks so much for this tutorial! Very helpful and informative. Greatly appreciated!
Thank you so much for this excellent tutorial!
This is great! I had no idea about these other handle types.
Thank you! Learnd essential stuff.
A lot of usefull information. Thank You.
thanks for doing this, v helpful, for learning curve modelling!
Great video I learnt new functions thank you
Great tuts! - Many thanks😀🙏👍
Very comprehensive and well explained. Very nice :).....At 19:41, the 2 points are selected but the handles are not, which contradicts a previous statement. :)
super tuto !
Thank you
Very helpful keep going 👍
Awesome 🇦🇶
Very useful tut👍
Really well presented
lovely tutorial ! thank you very much :)
The BEST tutorial ?! No no, it's much more that that !!! Thanks a million !!!
Brilliant tutorial, does anyone know what's happened to the Curve Tools add-ons in Blender 4.2?
wow i just watched a 30 minute video about curves
Thanks!
thanks!
OMG, the pen tool is exactly like vector graphic software like photoshop and inkscape
Could I maybe use this tutorial to make race tracks for a racing game I'm working on in Godot?

I'm trying to edit a curve to use as a profile along another curve and would like to do it symmetrically without having to copy and scale by -1 then move and join every time I change something to see the results.
That's a good question, I'm not sure Blender has symmetry for curves, but I'll check it out.
What version of blender was this... And what happened to the fillet option at time 18:12
You need to have the Curve Tools add-on enabled for the Fillet option to become available in the context menu.
I had to come out of Edit mode and back into edit mode. Gremlins.

Thanks for this tutorial. Now I know the shortcuts! By the way: you pronounce Bézier and not Bèzier. So this é sounds like in A-team, not like bat.
Yeah, I know I say it in a very American English kind of way, but it's still better than what a lot of people do by saying bez-e-air. lol
How do you add color to a bezier curve? Changing Wire or Wire Edit colors in Theme isn't working, and can't find any solutions online...
Why is my fillet option, set first points, and set origin to spline grayed out?
Me too!
I tabbed out of edit mode, selected the whole spline, then back into edit mode.
do you use the old blender?
No, it's the Light Blender Theme. It was the most current version of Blender at the time of recording. Bezier curves show up better in the light theme for tutorials.
Hi, a question: if I select "automatic" or "aligned" it can make bazier replace the NURBS curves? Thank you
Those are only applicable to bezier type curves.
@@christopher3d475 Ok, but is not the same curve quality?
Incredibly complex piece of overkill when compared to how other software tools treat vectors.
so how to cut curve ,,,;;,,?,,
In Edit mode, use the Curve Pen tool to add a point where you want the curve cut (Control click to add point). With that new point selected, press N to bring up sidebar options. In Edit tab --> Curve Edit panel, select Split at Vertex.
He called a hockey stick a hockey puck
Dude, you posted this video 9 months ago, why are you not updating your blender version.... nobody is using this old version anymore
IF YOU HAD LOOKED CLOSELY, you would have noticed it was the most current version of Blender at the time I recorded it (3.5 or 3.6) but I was using the BLENDER LIGHT THEME, because bezier curves and curves in general show up better for tutorials than the standard dark theme.
all the options are different. blender is designed so nobody can learn it because every tutorial is always old and unfollowable.
thank you
I was pulling my hair out because snap wasn't working for me. It's because it snaps based on your CURSOR position, not the active point. So you need to position your cursor by the point you want to snap before hitting 'G'. Extremely frustrating.
wow! I use curves a lot in Blender and didn't know some of these tips!
Thanks, now how can I extrude this results and made it 3d, please?
this is a AWESOME tutorial.. no fluff just get that point across, bottom line.. wish more people taught like this!
Is it possible to draw according to technical dimensions?
That's a good question, there's likely a technical or mechanical drawing type add on out there considering the sheer number of add ons available. I'll do some looking.
It is a beautifully made tutorial. But coming from Rhino, this is my idea of hell. Blender is so complicated, especially in managing things like bezier that makes me wanna puke whilst having a head-splitting headache

Outstanding explanation of these basics, and enough specificity about controls and tools to really get me started. Thank you.
Everything became clear. thanks for the video👍
Terrific tutorial.

Was struggling to understand this thanks for the insightful video
Love the Bezier curves...remember learning these for trying to make camera tracking for an object in early game dev college. Thanks for adding this video, mate!
Subbed.
Very good explanation, pleasant storytelling voice- great teacher!
The most useful tutorial about Curve aligning, thank you a lot.
Superb tutorial. Thank you for taking the time.
this was amazing. Thank you sir
amazing tutorial, thx so much
That lower portion , frame 12:39 is producing a figure "8" rather than a curve. Wgere did I go wrong? GOOD EVENING
I'm not sure, I would need to see the file to know.
@@christopher3d475 Thanks but I found the "problem" It was a double insert which I corrected. Thanks much.
Thank you!
Great tutorial…thanks!

Thanks a lot for this very useful tuto!
Thanks chris,,how do i know where the front or back of the curve is..where is the show nomals button?
Never mind I found it.its in material preview mode..
