    Looked at these cutters a few times now , but a lot of jobs we’ve worked on recently they are double boarded for sound/ fire resistance so the cutters would allow to go straight through both boards. Find it just as quick with just a standard multi tool blade

    We are getting a lot of jobs were there is double sound board or even a single layer of plasterboard but then either ply, osb board or on some 90,s build mdf.
    Each tool for each job i guess (they should invent a blade for each option, i do find plasterboard eats blades !!)

    • @efixx
      @efixx  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      This blade wont touch ply - unless you can wait for it to burn through!

      I've not used a multitool for electricical installation work... Yet but I have used a multitool for many other jobs and I've always found that the plasterboard as you say eats blades, however diamond edged grout blades I found last longer when using them in plasterboard

    I've got them but only find they are useful if you're cutting boxes in pre plaster. As soon as there is plaster on the wall they make a big mess of it! For the price not a bad thing to have in the van though

    I've not tried these but it'd need to be a lot quicker than that to stop me using a padsaw or multitool. If we can get something that deals with hard bricks that neatly I'm interested 😁.

      @johnburns4017 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hard brick? Some sockets with *round* innards are available. So a core drill can be used. Simple and quick

    I use my Bosch multi-tool with a circular blade. It enters the plasterboard gently, meaning you get an accurate cut, without drifting beyond the lines. I then finish of with a straight cutter for the corners. The tool oscillates about 5mm, so keep 5mm from the corner.
    Best to do several boxes with each blade, to reduce time swapping blades
    Finish result is clean without any damage to the plasterboard of our 1980s house

    Defo thing switching to straight multitool blade is a good idea, otherwise if pressing hard, the square cutter might damage the cable which is hopefully hanging around behind the hole....

    I can understand a special tool for knocking out in block or brick, For plasterboard not so much - you can cut it with a sharp spoon.😉

  • @christastic100

    Don’t think I’d bother with those fancy cutter gadgets as it seems a bit of a gimmick for the real world . Would use my Draper socket box marker and the standard universal flat blade .

    Good idea and a decent price but how long would they last? I guess not very long, probably best to get a few multi-tool blades for the same price.

  • @PrinceBarin77

    I find resting my fingertips on the back of the multi tool blade makes precision cuts much easier. Holding only the machine body is like trying to write holding only the wrong end of the pencil.

    I brought a quad saw. It killed 3 drills of mine so it’s now gathering dust in my garage.
    It’s to slow and bloody loud.
    Now I just use a multi tool with a universal blade. Just as quick.
    The quad saw just gets so so hot I needed oven gloves to change the blade from a single box to a twin box.
    And the drill it’s self got just as hot and smelly.
    I wish I could be more positive about the quad saw as it’s made in the uk and feels like a quality tool.
    It just didn’t work for me.

    • @efixx

    Why would you bother setting it up for just a template because that's just a waste of time. Either use it or don't lol. The comparison is clearly in the favour of not using it and who really cares about that back of the p/board, just take your time youll get the same results. Its a cracking bit id use this all the time over single blades.

    I think you'd have more success generally with the multitool if you turn it down a bit with both the Triton cutter, drifting beyond the line and blowing out the plaster. Be a gentleman. Take a few seconds longer
