Altitude, yes. The end is a 1200 meter near vertical climb at a grade of 5.12+, which begins at an altitude that's already as high as Mont Blanc. These giant rock-climbs are the most difficult in the world. They were pioneered in free style in the early 90s by the best climbers/alpinists ever, Güllich, Kurtyka, Loretan, Lowe, Destivelle.

It seems that the first guy brings the first rope up with him. He doesnt have any ropes above him when he is shown climbing.
