I can FINALLY appreciate how his fingers are not ripping apart when he climbs. As you may know, tendon pulls are a classic limiting factor in climbing. I went to the Toronto premier for Vertical Limit. The Alpine Club of Canada had given away a bunch of passes to it, so half the theatre was full of film industry types, and half of us were serious climbers.
When that scene happens, with his body thudding into the dirt, and the bird squawking, every climber in the theatre laughed, and the film industry types were so confused.

Most muscular fingers I’ve ever seen. Lol. Crazy
There aren't actually any muscles in your fingers, he does however have thick skin and calluses on his fingers though, and the muscles in his palm and base of the thumb looks quite bulky as well.
If you watch his free solo movie its amazing to see how he relaxes in it. Even after free soloing El Cap he goes back to his van where he has a hang board set up and spends ages in there hanging by the tips of his fingers. The whole movie / documentary is incredible

AMANDA+ I GOOGLED IT FOR YOUR STUPID ASS....HERE YOU GO, I SUGGEST YOU BRUSH ON THAT SHITTY BOOK YOU GRADUATED WITH.............There ARE muscles in the fingers. Let's call the finger the part where there's the distal, intermediate, and proximal phalanges (ie the three parts of the finger; thumb has 2). There are the extrinsic and intrinsic interossei muscles as well as the lumbricals (can't make the Star Trek sign w/o the lumbricals!!!) All these muscles have attachment points within the phalanges only (ie not connected to the bones of the hand.)
I shouldn't be surprised that he knows the subject so well because he is such an expert with so much experience....obviously, many other climbers can provide similar input and perspective, but the part I enjoyed is how he can look at a single frame of a movie (of a cliff wall), and instantly recognize the *type* of rock and often which wall it is and where it is. I'm sure that's obvious info to thousands of people, but still cool to see how quickly he can comment on it.
