The best Imperial Fist chapter successor is Imperial Fist chapter
The Sons of the Phoenix just seem too much like Emperor's Children to be a coincidence. I think Cawl has been using the more stable traitor geneseeds to make some of the primaris. I'm just interested to see what the consequences will be when others in the Imperium find out.
Well there are a few chapters that are probably descended from the Traitors legions /those elements that didn't betray the empire
Silver Skulls are definitely the coolest "successor chapters that totally aren't from heretic seed" chapters out there imo

That's were you are wrong, emperor's children are unstable thanks to the blight a sickness that was killing the legion why do you think fabius bile is changing body from body because he is literally dying from that gene-seed flaw

Also I would love to see a short story of the Executioners teaming up with the Black Templars.
Regarding the Sons of the Pheonix, something to consider about Dorn. While he is definitely known for his pragmatism and stoicism, look at the fortresses and buildings he makes. That's where his flair comes out. I mean how much more flamboyant can the Imperial Palace get? So like the Black Templars represent his rage, the Sons of the Phoenix represent his artistic and aesthetic sense.
I smell the Emperor's Children taint within them.

2, Crimson Fists - Great lore and stories, also can become so stubborn that they actually die.
3, Excoriators - 'Interesting' habits. Unofficial warcry, "Whip me harder, damn it!"
4, Sons of the Phoenix - As pious as BTs but more fabulous.
5, Hammers of Dorn - Nutters for the Codex, enjoy trolling the Ultramarines that they're doing it all wrong. Can't wait for them to meet Guilliman.
6, All the others - Loads of glorious spendidness abounds.

I’d say mine are about the same but Crimson fists are my number one, Black Templars are my second and Hammers of Dorn are my third
I'm normally an orks collector but after reading Rynn's World i was inspired to start a cimson fists force, recently began adding primaris squads to my force.
Crimson fists are my top successor
Canonically, there are 95 full battle brothers of the celestial lions left, but their numerous initiates in training are still out there, so even without primaris reinforcement they’re well on their way to rebuilding.
They also rescued much of their planet’s population, so all they need now is a new world to call their own and they’ll be set.
"Just don't let the Crimson Fists aim any rockets." Lol.. Oof.. the only Chapter to nuke it's own fortress monastery. Lmao

Black templars are what got me into 40k and personally I think the roboutes codex is the main thing crippling the imperium

1. Shadow Wolves - I adore this one above all else, though only appears as a mention in Helsreach. I've tracked down all the trail of it, - what leads me to Katie's (ADB's Wife) blog and the creation of this one is amazed me, as the fact that Aaron put them in a novel like a dedication of his wife.
I got into 40k because of black templars but after painting a few now I'm doing Imperial Fist.

Fun fact: First models I ever got were Gretchens; I liked them a lot. Then I seen that famous picture of the Crimson Fists and became a fan of the Imperium/ Space Marines. While I don’t have them as an army, it was that image of battle that really got me into 40K.

The Sons of the Phoenix were designed by their creator with Imperial Fists in mind. Their choice of colors and behavior were meant to evoke a religious theme (Cuz "Holy Terra"), but it is true that their style is very reminescent of the Emperor's Children.
My favorite sucessor Chapter among the lineage of Rogal Dorn is the Executioners.
Fernando Rivera exactly...there is no conspiracy. The guy that created them....CREATED THEM said they are sons of Dorn...not anything else.

@ I will try to find it again but there was an interview with the guy that created them for the White Dwarf along with a few other things and he mentioned what his original intent was.

I think the “Sons of Dorn” are pretty great. They’ve actually been quite active since the Fall of Cadia, liberating whole systems on their own, and becoming revered in the systems they saved from Chaos.
They only stopped their crusade as Tyranids were running amis on their homework’s if Archea (they are a fleet based chapter but they also have a world, similar to the Fists).
Curious on how Dorn would react to that the Imperial Fist went extinct before being put together again

I think Rogal Dorn will completely reject, and maybe scorn, the Black Templars not because of their harsh tactics to keep the hell out of Chaos shitballs and misanthropic xenos and loath to psykers, but the fact they reject any kind of opting defensive-leaned offensive tactics (in RTS terms “Castle/Bunker rush”), preferring direct attacks and stupid forlorn assaults like a bunch of stupid frenzy-driven World Eaters imbeciles.

Umm ant the first legion got the most pure gene seed even now and all organs working.
So I had a thought. After the war of the beast a load of souls drinkers became imperial fist to help build back up the chapter. But it has been revealed that dorn isn't the soul drinkers gene father. Does that mean that there is imperial fist marines that don't really have dorns gene seed?
I know this comment is ancient but yes this is entirely possible.
There is also the possibility of Chaos corruption in the Imperial Fists due to the Soul Drinkers geneseed (which is very likely tainted) circulating among aspirants and the creation of more Soul Drinker geneseed every time an aspirant fully completes the maturation process a new geneseed developes within 8-10 years.
Aspirants are implanted with one geneseed but a second one eventually grows that can be harmlessly extracted.
Aren't the Imperial Fists themselves essentially just a successor chapter after all the original Fists were wiped out in the war of the beast?

I think I'll paint some executioners in the old colour scheme, I really like the grey/blue camo and the shoulder emblem colour instead of the squad markings (green for tactical, yellow for assault etc.)

It was kinda a toss up for me between the Crimson Fists and the Black Templars, but I like the look and culture of the Crimson Fists just a bit more than the Templars. Honorable mention goes to the Retributors Chapter from the Astartes short films.

Ngl, the more I learn about Rogal Dorn and the Imperial Fists and it's successor chapters, the more I fall in love with them. They're quickly taking my #1 spot in all of the imperium.
How in Leman Russ's over inflated ego did the Retributors not get on this list?! They are one of few if ANY chapters that value strategy and tactical success over glorious combat. They don't waste a single second they're given when on the mission, and as seen in the Astartes series they're introduced in, they are quite literally unstoppable! An army of renegades with adept planning and heavy ordinance were simple cannon fodder for the Retributors, the sergeant and one of his men charged head on toward the two psychers, and did not waste a single second nor bullet trying to take them out. Also, when exposed to unshielded corruption from the orb, they shrugged off the whispers like...well...whispers, while an Inquisitor was exposed to shielded Warp energy, and was quickly corrupted.
The ADB novel Spear of the Emperor has the most current lore on the Celestial Lions. If you have not read if you should. IMHO it is the best ADB novel yet.

Or they might join the Iron Warriors?
Polux is not send by Dorn - he was just a member of the fleet but Yonnead was killed by the Iron Warriors, he was the fleet commander and Polux taken over the command.... But he IS a great commander
