I guess it was Thousands Sons ship going to Prospero during the day, Trazyn thoght "A big ship of only loyalist Thousand Sons would be a great addition" and swooshed giant Teseract Pokeball. At Solemnace while inspecting he saw that he could use them for more than mere nice thingy on shelf, so he started to use nano-scarabs to inflict them with lust for "collecting" like he has, because lust for knowledge already came from Magnus. But Trazyn didn't worked on SM before and they weren't mere humans as he thought mind-wise, they snapped before he could imprint the next thing, loyalty to him, they bashed in the ship from Solemnace taking some stuff along, but a long time has passed since they were captured, flew to some Imperium world, a lot of strange mess happened and boom fresh new Blood Ravens chapter which mysteriously doesn't know anything about from who they come and why that thing you have isn't in their hands

Also one theory is, from 40k Theories, that they also had Primaris marines prototypes before they were a thing as Cawl was making them. Green Berets = Special Forces. A-Teams is how they mostly work. Their Chapter Master is said to have personally communed with the Emperor several times, which is a rarity. Why, though, is something I've forgotten. It would make more sense because if they had the same geneseed they may cant even possessed by a demon.
The lore had so many flaws in it that made no sense and the Autor "Steve Parker" had also only written 5 Books für the WH40k System in 15 Years so he may just throw some stuff together for his short story. :/

This is the Point and not the first time some storys messed up with the lore. Especially in a short Story GW may not look too deep into it if something is off. You may take a deeper look in the GK lore and see how many problems this construction cause.
I would'nt take that as a fixed background of this Chapter, GW dont look to deep in such chapters and with a new GK Codex they may just say this is BS and that was it.

That's the arsenal of a second or third founding chapter, not a chapter from M35. And unlike the Minotaurs, they are not actively supplied by big honchos such as the High Lords or the inquisition.

Based on your description of the Mentors, I’m actually inclined to suspect that they’re descendants of the Alpha Legion. If I recall correctly, the Alpha Legion, despite being so sneaky by nature, had a tendency to grow bigger than average Marines, to the point where their smaller than average Primarch could pass himself off as one, or vise versa. Their penchant for secrecy could also be a hold over from the Alpha Legion as well.

Exorcists were 13th founding, they were created by having a demon posses them and then 'exorcised' in an attempt to make them more resistant to demonic/chaos effect, that's why the inquisition is involved.
