Throughout his six-decade-spanning career in show business, the late American actor, comedian, director, and writer, Tim Conway appeared in more than 100 television shows and films. Some of his most memorable roles included portraying the hapless Ensign Parker in the 1960s World War II-era sitcom McHale's Navy as well as several recurring iconic characters on The Carol Burnett Show such as Mister Tudball, the Dumb Private, and the Oldest Man. For his work on that program, Conway ended up winning four Emmys.
On the big screen, the Ohio native frequently co-starred with Don Knotts in films like The Apple Dumpling Gang, The Prize Fighter, and The Private Eyes. Conway was also known for playing the title character in the Dorf series of direct-to-video sports comedy films.
Over the years, Conway did a ton of voice-over work in animated series such as Scooby Doo, The Simpsons, The Wild Thornberrys, and The Proud Family. Younger viewers might also recall that he provided the voice of Barnacle Boy in the Spongebob Squarepants animated series.
While providing dialogue for the 2015 animated film The Spongebob Movie: Sponge Out of Water, Conway had trouble recording his lines due to then-undisclosed health issues. Ultimately these health problems led to his retirement from acting in 2016. Just two years later, he was diagnosed with dementia caused by a condition known as normal pressure hydrocephalus. On May 14, 2019, complications from this condition led to his death at the age of 85.
It's been three or so years since Conway's passing, but we're still learning unsettling details of his last couple years alive. One of the absolute best, and funniest, autobiographies that I have ever read is Tim Conway's book called, "What's So Funny?". He is an absolute riot throughout the book. I encourage every fan of his to but it or at least find it at your library.

So sad, been a huge fan of Tim Conway since I was old enough to watch McHale's Navy and understand most of the jokes. (6-7 years old.) Earnest B. would visit a restaurant/bar pretty close to where I lived in Alaska and I would ask my dad to take me there whenever we heard he was visiting in the late 90's/early 00's, wish they were both here, as well as much of the M. Navy cast. So sad that Tim Conway's ex wife and his kids can't get along. Wishing his daughter the best, as well as his other children. Tim was by far one of the most creative slapstick comedians in history. Much like Jerry Lewis. Loved him as Parker and in all the Carol Burnett Show sketched. My all time favorite was the Dentist! That said I barely remember him having a comedy western show. Think is may have been called Rango. I remember enjoying it and not understanding why it was cancelled. 😞 Thanks for the memories, though it’s always sad when families fight over a sick relative.
It amazes me how jealous and petty people can be when someone is dying or dead. When my grandmother died everyone came running with their hand out🫴🏻 or trying to pick through the belongings in her house even though my mother and I lived there with her and most of the things in the house belonged to us. To this day we are missing many of our belongings because I believe our family member just came in and took what they wanted without asking.

I remember him on McHales' Navy but I always enjoyed him the most on the Carol Burnett show. It seems that the writers on her show knew what to so with him and his talent so that he shined on the show where apparently some of the other shows he appeared on wasted his talent. It's too bad that his second wife and daughter Kelly didn't get along in his later years while he was ill. It could have made things easier while his life was winding down. He was a great comedic talent and will be missed.

The moments with Tim and Harvey Korean were comic gold- especially when Harvey broke character and could barely control his laughter.
I've had two women take over my Dad after my mom passed away.
They both took everything they could and my two sisters and I ended up with NOTHING.
We had no money, so I don't quite understand why these women were like that.
We lost so much personal family things, you know, photos, diaries, things that were made in school, and given to our parents.
It's been so hard not to be bitter and angry pretty much all of my life.
I understand about wanting the best for your Dad.
My sisters and I tried to be there for him when he got old and developed alzheimer's but we were continually pushed away.
It sucked. Still does.
Yall have a right to feel the way you do. Your dad should have had a trust made out to protect you and your sisters. Those women who married your dad after your mom passed away will reap what they've sown someday!

Working at a hardware store I would occasionally cut wood for Mr. Conway and he always was the nicest,sweetest man. Always very friendly and kind. I enjoy listening to his son on the radio now and smile remembering him following his dad in the store looking like it was the very last place he wanted to be on a Saturday afternoon.

Mr. Conway was truly a comical genius! His many, many unforgettable characters in movies and on the Caroll Burnett Show, as well as his "Dirk Dorf" character in the 1980s and 1990s, were absolutely brilliant! I was most familiar with his "Dorf" character, in which the already short statured Conway would bury his shins and feet in the ground, putting false shoes attached to his knees, enabling him to some really hilarious physical comedy, along with the toupee and the little Charlie Chaplinesque moustache coupled with his faux Swedish accent was a character that I have always deeply enjoyed, and continue to enjoy today!
RIP Tim Conway...also, RIP to Vincent Schiavelli, who often played the dim-witted "Leonard" opposite Conway in most of the "Dorf on ____" films!

My mother on the other hand knew Bob Newhart from college. We took Pat to magic mountain. He was a cool kid. Had a drum set that matches the drummer of Queen. Anyway their mansion was very close to the Ventura free way and not up in the hills..I met the dumb waiter and we had a laugh ✌🍻

Tim was a brilliant actor and comedian, but he was cursed when it came to his own tv show….
As in, he never starred in one. He did one show later on that did get some attention…
The only longevity was on the Carol Burnett show where he guest starred so much, that they made him a regular.
And the characters he created there… I think it was a toss up between the Old man and Mr. Tudball as to who was funnier.
But as brilliant as his career was, it was sad what happened to him before he passed.
