John Wayne got the name (Duke) when he was a kid. He had a dog named Duke and they were always together and the neighbors started calling John, Duke.
Whatever anyone says about John Wayne, his foibles, racism, affairs or anything else, he stared in some great films and as long as the human race endures, his films will still be shown.
