People are accountable for their own actions. When someone disrespects me for no reason, it says more about them than about me.I respond by denying them any futher access to my personal space.Empathy and kindness might work in certain situations with certain people but, many will take it as weakness and a free pass to disrespect you even more.

I agree, war and empire building is different to the petty non life threatening crap we deal with in a workplace. You deal with disrespect in that moment and if you need to pull that person apart in front of others you must do it with some interest on top. Otherwise they own you and you know it. Never fear confrontation it's the best way to test the courage of your own convictions. If you are not prepared to do this, enjoy living for someone else's convictions. Fuck that.

Very well said and that is the right way to handle it, especially with someone who does not know you well and you don't have history with. They have shown who they are and if you continue to give them access they will do it again and again, expecting you to eventually allow their nonsense.

I used to take it personally when someone was disrespectful to me out of nowhere. I didn't understand why I was being attacked totally unprovoked.
I was often stunned silent. Not addressing disrespectful behavior isn't ok.
Now I understand there are people who simply enjoy pushing people around.
It's important to discern their intent in that moment of contemplation before responding.
If someone is being a bully it's important to immediately, strongly let them know you wont tolerate disrespect. Calmly, assertively putting them in their place.
Developing the ability to respond effectively in difficult situations is a very important skill.

All good in theory, but not always practical.
As my extended family lives scattered over a large country, meeting ùp for reunions takes a lot of organising.
Now, imagine this: it'd been a few years since I'd seen a certain cousin, and I greeted her joyfully. Her venomous reply was so shocking that I stopped dead in my tracks.
All through that event, held in a large restaurant, she was turning on the charm to everyone except me. Very puzzling. When it came to say our farewells, I complimented her on how well she looked, and she bit my head off.
Now, given the circumstances, I'm sure you can imagine how impossible it'd be to start a confrontation in such a public place.
Next reunion, 2 years later, was at an aunt's place, and this particular cousin was even more horribly rude. Now, when I'm a guest in someone's home, I cannot start an argument or accusation. I cannot and will not. I was shocked at the hate and contempt my cousin displayed, but only to me, but I kept my dignity and behaved as though nothing were amiss.
I said no goodbyes to her, but resolved NEVER, ever to speak to her again. That's 12 years ago. She still rings up, expecting me to grovel all over her. I just hang up.
Best decision, as far as I'm concerned. No use trying to reason with someone so arrogant and insensitive. Besides, her behaviour was so extreme, so loud and uncalled-for, it'd just give her an excuse to further abuse and humiliate me. Ain't gonna happen

I apologized for my behavior and reaction and from that realization and personal recognition I returned to this lesson to help myself handle it better in the future. On Friday I went for a promotion interview. One of the panelist was condescending. Disrespected my name and went further to label me arrogant simply because * she advised I maintain eye contact when talking* she became completely angry when I nodded in affirmation to one her opinions.
Her tag sent an electric current down my spine. Then I mildly breathed in. She kept asking if I agreed I am an arrogant person but I kept my cool with no response.
After proceedings, she met me again in the lobby and invited me to her office and apologised to me on her harsh attitude towards me. A co-panelist had told her I am completely opposite of her accusations.
She took my contact and asked that we be friends 😅.
I am smiling listening to these lessons ❤.

Even today that such old knowledge is still able to be used to help us understand ourselves.

By clearly communicating our expectations for respectful treatment, we uphold our own dignity while fostering a positive environment for constructive interactions. My view has always been…”As if your opinion of me matters…I like me just fine” I started doing this when I was a kid with my bullies…I would laugh at them when they flew insults at me for what ever reason that their simple minds were choosing to be disgusting human beings on any given day. I had so much disapproval of their actions and enough confidence in myself to realize that they had the problem, not me, because “I liked me just fine.” I always knew that they were in the wrong. I would even seek them out and ask them if they had any other dumb things to say today and mock them for their ignorant stupidity.
Yes..I got the crap kicked out me from time to time, but, most of the time when they saw that they couldn’t bother me and that I thought less of them than they thought of me…it wasn’t fun for them anymore, so these weak minded people would usually give up…and..I would still like me just fine. Be well.

It took me a few beatings by my bullies to get angry enough to tell them what I thought of them in front of the other people. I just learned how to make them look stupid, which wasn’t hard, and make the bystanders laugh at them and and agree with me.

Real reflections of ones self, taking full responsiblities really do makes a difference in ones life.

When I am disrespected, I can’t really keep my cool. Before all of that, I’m very giving and loving, but sometimes people just don’t get the fact that you have boundaries.

Stumbled on this, and i am so happy! I tend to be emotional and am working my way up the corporate ladder and the disrespect I have encountered has left me floored and frankly unsure how to handle it. Except responding in a negative manner. I usually get them back. You have a new follower, as I appreciate your content in this video. The explanations made sense. I will start putting it into practice today. Ty

I believe it is better to put some disrespecting dudes where they belong to especially when it is consistent with them whilst protecting your peace of mind, forgive but set the healthy boundaries. Nice guys do not get what they deserve in life ... be wise friends and stand for your values and you will command respect.

I’m am learning it is very much so I have used these and had been called weak for me not giving equal disrespect. But my soul is the righteous one that told me maybe they were underestimated by the fact most people endured their behavior and much less not gave the same energy to then not knowing what to do with themselves. I thank you for your education ❤️🙏

All my life i don't have family issues like disrespecting me or friends. Only from work. I've been a doormat for many years afraid of getting fire and just except the disrespect and rudeness behaviors from colleagues and just close my eyes and ears. Not anymore i defend myself and tell them as it is. Or i just ghosted them.Works for me. But this philosophy provided me how to REALLY handle the situations in the correct manner ( professionally) i will utilize some of the content on here whomever disrespect me at work. I hope it works lol. Great video! Thank you

It's hard sometimes, I can't shake that I feel worthless a lot. Perhaps I'm just too hard on myself? I've created a lot of problems for myself, it's affecting myself and those I exist with. It's going to be a long road. Don't mind me just journaling. 👀

Hang in there - you’re not alone in those feelings and action. Others have been their own worst enemy and receive disrespect as a result also, it takes time and concentration to fix, but by recognising your circumstances you have accomplished step one. So just keep going. I wish you strength along the way 👊
