    yep, work dark to light for pet portraits digitally too, only way you are going to get the right look

    Hi Zara, such an excellent tutorial! I notice that you don't often blend while you're drawing. I'm currently doing a portrait of Hovawart but I think that my paper (Fabriano Toned Paper 120gms, 15% cotton) is resulting in a grainy appearance. I find that I'm blending often to eliminate that. Perhaps it's time I purchased decent paper and pencils 😊

      Thank you =). Pleased it was useful. I often blend with the pencils themselves and find that can create some lovely smooth layers. I really don't like the gritty look that occur with pastels but the paper plays a huge role. Also layers. Not enough layers and the tooth of the paper is allowed to show through. It can be a combination of a few things.
