Me and a few friends started a group (just 5 dudes at first) to memorize psalms, one of the guys already had a bunch of psalms memorized to tunes he made for them. So we ended up memorizing Psalm 27 by singing it! Fast forward to a year and a half later and the group has grown to about 40 people and we’ve memorized about 20 psalms this way so far and also a few other scripture passages! Putting psalms to a tune helps so much! Now we can recall His word and it’s ingrained in our memory! We call this group The Psalmsters now and we’ve been meeting every Thursday night for a year and a half! Highly recommend singing as a method of memorizing!
@@dakotamatthes1568 thanks! It’s not something I ever thought I would be doing, but it has been one of the greatest things! All praise and glory to Jesus for bringing together so many people who are hungry for Him and His Word!
I’ve been doing the same, but I’m trying to learn it in Latin. I highly recommend you to do the liturgy of the hours in Latin (sung) I can definitely tag some resources! It’s so so beautiful and reverential.
I had the opportunity to stay with a religious community in my discernment and what was most fruitful for me was going back to the selection of psalms from Lauds, Vespers, etc. throughout the day. It was an easy way to spend time with the Lord and giving the Lord that extra space to speak through the same Scripture led to a deep love of the Psalms over time and immense peace. I learn in two weeks if I will be accepted to join their way of life as a friar. Please pray for me!
I love this! Mother Natalia seems to have a very unique and practical way of seeing what needs our attention. My tidbit prayers; 1. Pray a Hail Mary every ride on an elevator for the people on the elevator before or after me. 2. Speak gratitude for a set amount of time daily. While driving is super easy, and it changes my attitude for the day.
I also pray the Hail Mary during the busy day! I used to walk home on streets with speeding cars so I would say a Hail Mary while crossing the street. It's also a quick, calming prayer before an important conversation at work.
I do not think praying without ceasing, refers to the activity of the mind, but to that of the Soul and Being. It's like a husband and a wife that sit in a park on a bench, they do not have to constantly talk with each other to be together, when they are silent, they can feel each others Love and presents.
I have the tendency to distract myself when i have nothing to do during my day, but it helps me to just look out my window and see the sky, grass, and little animals in my yard because it guides my mind into an awe of God. I think to myself how He created everything so carefully and lovingly, and that God truly loves His creation. That thought helps bring me into a spirit of prayer. Thank you for this video!!❤
I do the same thing. I end up writing out my 'free' day and sticking to it. Hour by hour, spiritual reading-cleaning-prayer-scripture reading etc. otherwise I end up doing a whole lot of everything and nothing.
Ohhh. I literally walked around the house listening to music for hours. I walked 8kms inside the house. Its quite a long distance 😅 i need to stop thinking so much and daydreaming to music
Thank you, Mother Natalia from Japan. I realized that although I had originally started having daily quiet time with Jesus, it was becoming “just an act” on my part. I now cherish daily moments with Jesus throughout the day. When I see a small beautiful flower while walking or hear birds singing, I thank and pray. Then, my heart is filled with warmth, and I realize that He is here with me.
Some things I want to share: 1. I love the point on “efficiency”. And I’d say that we get this temptation even during prayer. At least for me, when I pray, I get a lot of temptations to check on emails, notifications, or other things that are “important”. More important than prayer? Definitely not. And I try to remind myself of it constantly. 2. I have fallen, time and time again, into the assumption that I need to feel good during/after prayer or else I didn’t pray well enough. While there is some merit to observing whether or not we have received tangible graces, I think it puts too much focus on ourselves vs God, the primary focus of our prayer.
My short go to prayer throughout my work day is "God help me." And I make the sign of the cross frequently. I also like to carry my wallet card in my pocket of Jesus and I say, "Jesus, I trust in You". Thanks for this video. I love this.
I watched this video several days ago and I have been thinking about this advice and it’s been so helpful. I feel calmer during my days at home with my kids when I constantly bring myself back to the Lord. Thank you!
"Grant us an Inefficiency that helps us be in greater relationship with You" I will mediate on this at work. This stood out to me cus I pressure myself to be as efficient as possible at work, seeking perfection.
Mother, as someone who is burdened by a punishing sense of ruthless efficiency, I would MOST WELCOME a video on that topic. Being still & relaxed are foreign concepts to me, and no matter how much I try, I constantly feel the pull of all the myriad of things I “should” be doing instead. But there’s never a sense of completion or enough. So please, a video on that topic would be fantastic. 🙏🏼
I can second your sentiment! It’s a constant battle but I’m hoping less efficiency/more intentional becomes second nature with enough practice. Very much looking forward to your coverage of this topic, Mother Natalia
@beuller7. I had a slight issue with the "efficiency" motivation. I realized in my ambitious endeavors I was neglecting to love those who were engaged in the same tasks as me. I would forget to ask someone about their ongoing issues with family, recognizing a struggle that someone was facing, and neglected to offer help. I have grown since then and learned much with the help of our Lord, Jesus Christ in prayer and increases in faith. As a test (and and ongoing practice if it is isn't already) see if this drive for efficiency is present as you perform a charitable work. It could be volunteering in a soup kitchen, gathering items for the needy, or in some way ministering to the need(s) of those in need. This should indicate whether your strive for 'efficiency' is given by our Lord for His purpose, or if it melts away in the charitable work, something that should be examined carefully. Now I realize that the love with which I do what I do matters more than the task itself, transforming dead works into acts of charity... Love in motion. May the Lord increase your faith according to His will!
Yesterday I stopped at a red light and suddenly felt the Presence of God. Took a deep breath and turned my thoughts to God. My daughter was with me & told me that practice had helped her so much when she as able to drive. (She’s now partially blind.) so that’s our new practice! We also have donors to my daughter’s nonprofit & I offer a prayer of thanks for each of them as I do the accounting.
The Angelus Prayer at 6am, noon, and 6pm has been a game changer for me. I set a Church bell alarm and invite whichever child is near me to pray with me.

I love the Jesus prayer as many do and many holy Catholic and East Orthodox monks do and practice. Jesus I trust in you meditation--all very simple and powerful Kingdom of God is within. as Christ famously preached.
My grandma (may she RIP in heaven) once told me that she would say a "Hail Mary" whenever she heard an ambulance. Since then I do the same or at least ask Mary "please pray for the soul(s)." I've extended this to say a "Hail Mary" if ever I see someone struggling or course if I am Having a pocket rosary definitely helps me be mindful to pray. I deal with anxiety, so I've started to see anxious feelings or objectively stressful situations as opportunities / reminders to pray to Jesus for trust in Him and to surrender my worries to Him. I also like the "Come, Holy Spirit" prayer because it's so short and easily comes to mind in moments that require grace.
My grandmother was a great example to me. She prayed without ceasing. She passed 8yrs ago. I needed to hear this message I’ve been feeling to do the same lately.
I feel that this presentation is a justified indictment on my own prayer life, and I would guess, it is also an indictment on many others as well. If the time and attention I devote to the Lord were a measure of my love and fidelity towards him, then I have to say I am guilty of being nearly apathetic and lacking the devotion that would indicate a true passion for God. There are so many frivolous pursuits that I spend an inordinate amount of time on, which could be better spent dedicated to our heavenly Father. God, forgive me for my unwillingness to devote the energy and the attention you justly deserve. May the words of Mother Natalia permeate my soul in such a way as to enhance my devotion to you.
Oh Sister, I’m really trying, but I’m so broken as I’m working so many hours at work so hard as a wife, mom, and grandmother. My whole family has left our Lord. They hate the church and Jesus. I can only pray at this point. Please pray with us, the ones who have lost our families. 🙏🙏 yes Jesus help us. Saint Monica, please pray for us.
Thank you sister to remind us to p ray always there is a prayer that I used to pray most of the day almost all days and it's a prayer that was given to sister Consolata Betrone you probably know it it goes like this " Jesus Mary I love you save souls. I is said that every time that you pray this prayer you save a soul. Since one year or more I switched to another prayer but I want to mention that in those years that I did pray this prayer there were about 10 people that when I saw them I asked the lord to bring them to the one true faith and surprisingly enough 7 or 8 of them came to my Church and 4 of them stayed. And I didn't talk to them personally.. So I believe that also through repeating this prayer throughout the day in my head it had this effect also. Maybe I will switch to this prayer again or at least try to say is more again throughout the day.
I immensely enjoy your perspective! Listening to you has helped my family in numerous ways. I’m a SAHM of three; age 8, 6, almost 2, and our first boy due in August. So about to be four that I homeschool and tend. To focus on God I listen to songs that sing scripture. I can’t help but learn scripture this way and find myself meditating on certain passages, especially Proverbs. My mind immediately goes to verses that I find applicable in the moment. I’m sure there are more songs I haven’t found yet, so I’d appreciate feedback if anyone knows of songs like these. Shane & Shane, and King Things are my favorites at the moment. On another note: I’d like to hear your take on efficiency and productivity. I’ve been intentionally a slower person in certain areas so as to enjoy teaching my children, and am focused on eliminating hurry so I can keep peace within myself. I have been fixated on productivity in the past, though I don’t feel I was ever successful. I look forward to hearing from you again!
For me, it’s a switch in perception. Conceptually, I think of the Holy Spirit like the wind, blowing in the direction of God’s will. The more I align myself to it, the more balanced, powerful, fulfilled I feel. When I’m out of alignment, well the Holy Spirit seems to bless me with corrections that I can either struggle against, or embrace and allow myself to align with truth. I definitely don’t get this right, often! But, I want to, because my entire being resonates with peace. Keeping a rosary on my person really helps! When temptation hits, 3 Hail Mary prayers redirects very effectively and an Our Father locks it in. I don’t want to talk or think about the depravity that used to fill my mind before I started this practice.
WOW , I did not expect you to struggle with wanting to pray. My constant struggle in the world is to sit down, quiet myself and pray. It is a battle because God is not concrete and for me difficult to hear. There are pictures of Jesus, but they are pictures and I have never seen Him in person. It is hard to focus on God who you have never seen and do not know. I believe in Him and He is my only hope but I cannot grasp Him. I ask Him to take my hand and lead me through this life to be with Him forever but I am a sinner caught up in the train wreck of this world and have a hard time focusing on God.
“My life is good, really good! I get to wake up every morning at 5 AM, and make some soup! It’s the best!” -Ignacio I still want the Mother Natalia Talks Trek podcast.
ST. MOTHER TERESA OF CALCUTTA: “We create all kinds of difficulties in our prayer. Let us go back to what Jesus has taught - the intimate and simple prayer: ‘Our Father...’ Even little children can pray this.” ST. TERESA OF AVILA: “Don’t think that if you had a great deal of time you would spend more of it in prayer. Get rid of that idea! God gives more in a moment than in a long period of time, for His actions are not measured by time at all. Know that even when you are in the kitchen, our Lord is moving among the pots and pans!”
Thank you! Something we do as a family is- whenever we hear the Lord’s name in vain, we say “we love you Jesus!” And whenever we pass a Catholic Church, we blow kisses to Jesus. Lastly, everyday at 3pm- we say “we love you Jesus!” We try to say the Chaplet or rosary as a family each day- but we want to send some love throughout the day as well.
Mother, there is a fantastic book called Holiness for Housewives. It's written not so much to housewives, as it is to mothers, but it is all about this same topic as this video, and very practical and very heartening.
Thanks for the ideas! I think I'll implement some of these. Besides the Jesus prayer as a short prayer that can be easily said throughout the day, I also like the "God come to my assistance..." (Ps 69/70:1) prayer. This prayer is recommended by John Cassian (5th century) conference 10 chapter 10 as a way to do continual prayer and is used frequently in the Western divine office.
How about starting and ending your day with the Liturgy of The Hours(Divine Office). Roughly 18 min of one’s time reciting each of the two hours. Before I get out of bed in the AM and before I close my eyes in pm! The divine office is the second highest form of prayer outside of the Mass.
Just look at beautiful things in nature - flowers, butterflies, the sky, the stars, feel of a gentle breeze, the feeling of sunshine on the body, and Google the beauty of pure gemstones, tropical islands, and gold. There has to be a God because no man can create anything of that beautiful.
I think the essential first step to a deeper prayer life is the divine office. Start with morning prayer. Next, later, add evening prayer. Next, add night prayer.
Taking a time to thank the Lord, for instance, when you go for an ice cream or a beer, take a moment to think that you are enjoying that treat, thanks to God! :0) or when everything is calm, and you have moments of peace and quietness, or when you are stuck in traffic, or are washing the dishes, thank the Lord for those moments too. Even take a moment to thank the Lord for the moments of suffering, as “crazy”as it may sound from our human perspective. Also I like to talk to Our Father when I go out for a walk ✨🫶✨that can also be a form of mental prayer :Ð
Praying the Little Office of the Virgin Mary is a great way to be recollected throughput the day, as it becomes part of your routine. The smaller hours of Prime, Terce, None, and Compline can be prayed in 3-4 minutes. I find that praying the LOVM means that I am more likely to rember to pray at other times, even if it's just a brieft turning to Our Lord in the business of life.
After my stroke, I suffer from daily left side weakness. During my work breaks, I often pray the Jesus prayer. Christ seems to prefer the Jesus prayer over my petulant begging, ha! Obviously, He knows exactly what is going on with me. Passion of Christ, strengthen us!
Whenever I am harrassed by thoughts that are negative, petty or otherwise unwelcome, I say outloud, "In the name of Jesus, Satan begone!" 10 times, and my thoughts almost always take turn toward the positive. If anyone reading this ever struggles with negative thinking, I suggest you give it a try!!
Pray the Little Office of the Blessed Virgin Mary. It’s a small book that fits in many pockets. Prayers are designated every three hours. Most of the prayers through the daytime take three or four minutes each. Because you pray them at specific hours you remain mindful of the time and you know what you’re going to say. Like any office, it comes with rubrics so you must obey those.
Happy All Saints Day, dear Sister in Christ. Might I kindly recommend along with this reflection, one plays I Need Thee Every Hour, as performed, of course, by the Tabernacle Choir at Temple Square. 🙏🏻
Sr Natalia would you and the heavenly sisters please pray for our adorable baby brother Vincent whos now in a hospital for almost 4 weeks and is going through chemo and possible radiotherapy, hes dads 24/7 carer and a truly wondeful human being whos so patient and so tolarable to his dad and our sister whos going through traumas due to grief of loss of her 2 beloved ones
If we dont pray without ceasing we miss out , prayer seems like sacrifice ,the devil attacks , the only peace you can have is being in Jesus Christ by prayer and not our toughts , no matter what is around us all distractions, for our own good if we dont pray without ceasing especially those who live in cities with all the business we can get ingulfed with toughts that separate us from God adding to all temptations including , loving ourselves, greed, anger, short temper, stress, vanity, self centredness could be on our own families also , jealousy, lust , worry, judging others, gossip, defiling ourselves , adultery also in the mind , thats what the devil does .Pray without ceasing in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ , dont forget to pray for those who you think that are your enemies (because the devil is our enemy not the people even though seems like it but God is in control )and for all other people.
best thing for me is the sign of the cross the whole power of God can be sometimes achieved by a simple cross on your self or externaly, it is a powerfull exorsism and sanctifier.
How can you expect Catholics to live like monastics if the church rejects Hesychia? Hesychia is the pillar of monasticism and also St Gregory Palamas taught how important praxis is. I’m an Orthodox convert from Catholicism and the structure of monasticism is quite different and definitely not something of this world.
POPE BENEDICT XVI: “Again and again, the very notion of saints has been caricatured and distorted, as if to be holy meant to be remote from the world, naive and joyless. Often it is thought that a saint has to be someone with great ascetic and moral achievements, who might well be revered, but could never be imitated in our own lives. How false and discouraging this opinion is! Christ is not so much interested in how often in your lives you stumble and fall, as in how often you pick yourselves up again. He does not demand glittering achievements, but he wants his light to shine in you. He does not call you because you are good and perfect, but because he is good, and he wants to make you his friends. Yes, you are the light of the world because Jesus is your light. You are Christians - not because you do special and extraordinary things, but because Christ is in your life. You are holy because his grace is at work in you.”

I ask Him to take my hand and lead me through this life to be with Him forever but I am a sinner caught up in the train wreck of this world and have a hard time focusing on God.
“My life is good, really good! I get to wake up every morning at 5 AM, and make some soup! It’s the best!”
-Ignacio
I still want the Mother Natalia Talks Trek podcast.
ST. MOTHER TERESA OF CALCUTTA: “We create all kinds of difficulties in our prayer. Let us go back to what Jesus has taught - the intimate and simple prayer: ‘Our Father...’ Even little children can pray this.”
ST.
Thank you for sharing practical and real useful means of bringing ourselves to God. I totally get the desire to be playful. God bless you sister.
I use the Fatima prayer that we say during the Rosary. Very helpful to me as a Deacon. May the Lord Give You Peace.
Waiting in line is a great time for the Lord helps us grow in patience too!
I’m excited! 🤗
Thank you Mother Natalia!
So long to wait! 😭
I use the shortcuts app on my iPhone to set hourly reminders to say a short prayer or read a psalm!
Thank you Mother Natalia 🙏
God bless you Mother Natalia.🙏✝️
Mother, there is a fantastic book called Holiness for Housewives. It's written not so much to housewives, as it is to mothers, but it is all about this same topic as this video, and very practical and very heartening.
I just finished reading The Benedict Option by Rod Dreher from my local library. Goes along with the theme for this video.
Notes:
6:10 Desiring God
8:39 Jesus prayer
11:14 Demanding tasks
13:34 Using waiting
14:49 Psalms
You are always so inspirational 🙏
How about starting and ending your day with the Liturgy of The Hours(Divine Office). Roughly 18 min of one’s time reciting each of the two hours. Before I get out of bed in the AM and before I close my eyes in pm! The divine office is the second highest form of prayer outside of the Mass.
This video has been very helpful. Thank you! I do want to know how Catholics can reconcile 1 Timothy 2:5 when praying to Mary, as described at 12:09.
Thank you for your words of wisdom
Thank you so much. This was so helpful!
Just look at beautiful things in nature - flowers, butterflies, the sky, the stars, feel of a gentle breeze, the feeling of sunshine on the body, and Google the beauty of pure gemstones, tropical islands, and gold. There has to be a God because no man can create anything of that beautiful.
Good goals...thank you Mother Natalia.
Absolutely lovely video!
I felt called out by that Nacho Libre remark😅 Thank you Mother Natalia.
Thank you!
Super helpful - thank you!
Amen to that🙏✝️⚔️
I pray a Hail Mary for all the souls in purgatory when I pass by and see a cemetery.
🙏
Same problem with most non denom churches also.
My husband and I pray the rosary every day at 5am and we have alarms in our phones to pray the angelus at 6am, 12noon and 6pm
And we also pray the divine mercy chaplet at 3pm 🤍
Happy All Saints Day, dear Sister in Christ. Might I kindly recommend along with this reflection, one plays I Need Thee Every Hour, as performed, of course, by the Tabernacle Choir at Temple Square. 🙏🏻
i often pray when im in the food pantry line i wonder if people just think i am antisocial but it is a good way to be ill continue these habits
Please do a video on the problem of efficiency, Mother!
O
I always carry a small rosary in my pocket and I hold it in random moments of my day and it helps me remember me that Jesus is always with me. 😇
Christ centered music is a w. I recommend Day by Day from the musical Godspell.
Wonder if Sr Natalia know how extremly naturally non earthly beautiful she is
There is also the option to actually be a monk.
Actually, Mother N is. A Female monk known as a nun.
Or you can be a hermit
How do you venerate the icon? I’m a new Catholic so I don’t know what that looks like.
I say the Jesus prayer when I take the steps down from my apartment building
Sing hymns while doing chores or driving.
I do short pray when i wake up when am driving just talking to my LORD JESUS CHRIST when am washing dishes ..Thank u JESUS for everything AMEN
That's what I am actually: a monk that was NOT ordained... :))
I would like to be a monk. Any suggestions?
Yeah that's what I thought
You both look so alike
Woah sister you admit to not wanting to pray sometimes.
Thats embarrassing so its probably true!
Jesus is the truth.
You must love Jesus!
Awareness of Presence of God if possible 24/7
Where in the Bible does it say to pray to Mary and have her intercede for us?
@JesusRulez-l3j ? There is no Matthew 9:51
Protestants always ask the same questions. They see words but not meanings
👍
thank you
POPE BENEDICT XVI: “Again and again, the very notion of saints has been caricatured and distorted, as if to be holy meant to be remote from the world, naive and joyless.
No thank you. If I'd wish to be like a monk I would become one.
She cute
Read the Kempis, for God's sake
