    I’m a U.S. citizen. Thank you SO much for this video. I feel I’ve been guided, recently, to get back to my foundational faith in order to get through the coming trials and tribulations that appear to be unfolding in this country, my town, and in the world, as I write this. Of course, my faith is always there, but something outside of myself seems to be urging me to pray more, and review the practices of the contemplatives of the eastern and western Christian traditions, in order to get through this unbelievable evil unfolding around me. Even though I’m a divinity school drop out, I’m glad my study, and experience in the church is with me at this time, and guiding me in such a way as I never believed I would need - frankly, I can see clearly exactly what you describe unfolding. I work in a traditional “healing” profession in the States. The paradox of my inner world vs. the abhorrence I see happening here reminds me that I am forced to confront this hypocrisy due to my work in the world. I guess I signed up for this when I committed myself to Christ - but I know I will be OK with that. Your words were very much needed today.

      Glory be to God, my dear one. We can only hope that our words can help someone else get through a difficult day, and that we ourselves will find the words we need to survive our own difficult moments. If we carry each other this way, we have a good chance of surviving the darkness of this world.

      We need to be more proactive about praying for discernment, my dear one. We need to let it sink in our mind that without discernment we have no chance in the spiritual darkness of this world and we need to fight and struggle to obtain the grace of discernment. Please remember us in your prayers.

      I would stay away from such words, my dear one. Of course I pray we ALL become the saints Christ created us to become, but I am also painfully aware that we can all collapse at the very last breath we take. I always look at Judah - how close he was with Christ, how intimate, now un-mediated his teaching and his access to the Lord and yet... at the very end, he fell. I always hold that before my eyes, and I pray that none of us goes through that hell. Let su pray for each other - the love of that prayer can carry us forward when we fall.

Together you keep my feet on the ground. We are so swept away by all the terrible dangers around us. I am sure the Lord sends you for our sake into the world through internet. They may not be very well known and they may only reach a few people, but their work is essential. May God bless us all, and may we all grow together in Christ.

      @@mullmonasterywe have no good clergy nearby. clerical abuse was frequently encountered. confidential confessions were disclosed and detrimentally used to threaten against us if we do not compromise ourselves. dumbing people down, tearing us down attempting to demoralize our will. encouraging us towards sinfulness. complete disregard for death, illness and salvation. only false reputation and profit by ridiculing, mocking and having fun on behalf of our suffering. not allowing honest discernment to distinguish what is accurate. anyone who after listening was not naively obedient is called mentally insane. constant peer pressure hauntingly chasing us from behind offering no time to think. no liberty of free choice, only a marginalized array of options which coincidentally happen to only be harmful. very much dishonesty and cunning hypocrisy. we are considered disposable. any sincere and pure virtue is suppressed to stop anything good from succeeding. thriving in prosperity is not even a dream when people hope to barely survive through the uncertainty of their future

    Thank you Father, I was patiently waiting for your thoughts, as I knew that you would take time for prayer and telling us the truth about Christ. And that we do not need to be confused and afraid of what is going on in US. We learn to look to the salvific Christ with your help. Thank you for thinking of giving us the light for our minds and lead us how to look at Christ. I couldn´t be more thankful. I understand much better now when you mentioned spiritual psychosis. We need to pray for the lost and deluded. May God keep on blessing you!

    • @mullmonastery
      @mullmonastery  3 วันที่ผ่านมา +7

      That is an essential thing, my dear one: we all need to pray for the lost and deluded, because that prayer will keep us safe from being deluded ourselves. If we hate, if we coldly turn our backs to those fallen, Christ will allow us to fall in the same pits, so we may learn from painful experience the heaviness of their cross. We need to discern darkness from light, but we also need to protect our hearts from judgement and lack of love.

    As an evangelical protestant, it’s videos like this that draw me closer to orthodoxy. The disconnect I see in their minds between their faith and their behavior is a very serious issue. Their obsession with politics and nationalism would be fine if they honored Christ by selecting candidates that were at least not morally reprehensible. The evangelical vote is powerful enough to decide who ends up on the ballot, so there’s no excuse for the choice they made this time. All of them seared their consciences. All of them knowingly selected evil to run this country. All of them will be directly responsible for what comes next. As if we didn’t see what happens when such a man runs this country. Over 1 million people unnecessarily dead during a pandemic. Riots in the streets. Riots at the capital. The entire country during his presidency was a complete train wreck, and his entire (Republican) cabinet walked away saying he was “unfit to lead this country“. Christians are supposed to have the gift of discernment. That comes from the Holy Spirit. If evangelicals are that bad at discernment, it begs the question about which Jesus they follow, and whether the Holy Spirit is even in the picture for them.

    Appreciate you sharing truth regarding the evil one posing as our Lord and Savior. This reminds me of C.S. Lewis' book THE SCREWTAPE LETTERS. This book is an imaginary written discourse between an older demon, uncle Screwtape and his nephew, Wormwood - a young demon fresh out of school beginning his journey to corrupt humans. The letters are uncle Screwtape's responses to letters received from his nephew, Wormwood. Letter 9 is very interesting and supports Fr. Seraphim's words regarding the evil one masquerading as our Lord and Savior. Uncle Screwtape tells his nephew that attending church is actually helpful to corrupting humans, provided they attend the right types of churches AND/OR frequently attends different churches to find the 'right' church that comforts the human.
    Quoting C.S. Lewis from Letter #9, "A moderated religion is as good for us as NO religion at all---and more amusing." From Letter #23, we read Uncle Screwtape advising his nephew, "...We do want, and want very much, to make men treat Christianity as a means; preferably, of course, as a means to their own advancement, but, failing that, as a means to anything---even to social justice."
    A book well worth reading. C.S. Lewis stated he found this book the easiest to write AND simultaneously the most distressing. Easy because thinking like the evil one, devising schemes of corruption and enacting them was frighteningly easy. Distressing because how hurt his soul was at writing such material. "The Screwtape Letters Annotated Edition" by C.S. Lewis, 2013 and published by Harper Collins. I pretty much feel like no matter how much I seek Him and seek to die as a living sacrifice, the further I get. It’s like no matter what I do I’m doomed. And this just reinforces to me how far I really am. I believe He has healed me of MANY sins and sinful habits, but it doesn’t matter because my heart still sits in some weird space of evil. I can’t seem to fully give up my hatreds and bitterness to the world. He died for us, and I can’t understand it or reflect that love no matter what. I can’t give up my pursuit, even when I want to (which is a lot these days). But where I’m at right now leads me to believe that I am damned to the pit. Happy for those who truly walk with Him and experience Him daily and all. Anyway, a small confession into the void of the internet. Best to all.

    Acquiring discernment is the hardest part.

    • @mullmonastery
      @mullmonastery  3 วันที่ผ่านมา +4

      This is why the Fathers write of discernment as the crown of ascetical virtues, the ultimate gift from Christ. Without discernment, not even love is safe, because there are good ways to love, which lead to Life, and bad ways to love, which lead to death. May we all be granted at least enough discernment to make it through the darkness of this world.

    thanks for addressing the misuse of the word martyr.. In the Latin Church we have a lot of that coming from the political violence in France, Spain, and Mexico.. If the Church takes sides in a political war and some people get killed because of that, well, yes they may be heroic and admirable, or maybe not, but getting killed in a war, even a just war, doesn't make you a martyr for Christ.. Some may have been, God knows, but I really dislike people using the title of martyr for casualties of political violence.. The early martyrs died voluntarily and very specifically for the name of Christ, so obviously they're very high up in heaven.

    Sorry for not asking something that is related to the video, but what is your advice for me who, God willing, is about to lead a monastic life?
