    I was raised around Porsche (dad worked for Porsche for over 35 years) and I learned to drive stick on an '86 944! The car was 11 years older than me, but it handled better than I had expected. Tough clutch and I do not recommend for anyone who hasn't already driven old sports cars, but certainly a blast for those of you who revel in the performance of that era.

    What’s going to go up in value that’s cheap, reliable, and tons of fun? The 987.2 Cayman and Boxster. They’re the last affordable analog Porsches with no IMS issues and no known reliability / recall holes. Heck: The 7-gear PDK put into these starting in 2009 was essentially used as-is for a decade. Hydraulic steering? Check. Six cylinders of glorious sound? Check. No annoying nanny software? Check. Of course you still get stability control (PSM) and some of the best brakes on the planet. Necessary options? I suggest the Xenon headlights and either the Bose sound or at least SPP.

      928 Turbo ????? You certainly mean 924 Turbo

  • @kevin3681
    @kevin3681 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    the 944 Turbo wasn't built between 1982 and 1991. The reugular 944 came to the US in 1983 and was sold until 1989. The Turbo came out in 1986 and was only imported in to the US until 1989. So you can get a 1986-1989 944 Turbo. They are getting very expensive. With mild modifications you can get 350 HP no problem.

    • @TRD-FRS
      @TRD-FRS 4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      I wouldn’t say I’m anywhere near an expert, but I will say this. If you decide to get an old 944/924/928, they are not bad. Since the 928 was supposed to be luxurious and the flagship car over the 911, Porsche put a lot of time and money into it, so it rides really nice, performs well (it can put a lot of super cars of its time to shame), and looks well. The 944/924 are basically the same in terms of engine, and they are pretty good as well. Since there are a lot of Porsche enthusiasts, and because their issues are so well documented, you can ask anyone who works on the older ones a good amount or you can ask/look at the forums, and you’ll get a pretty definitive answer.

    The Cayman is the best budget option IMO. because of the exterior styling and the 2-seats, it’ll always be a desirable option, but since they’re not quite aged into “classic” territory, you can still scoop them up for a reasonable price. They may never be worth what same gen 911s will be, but could definitely outpace them on ROI.

    I’d rather have the old Boxster and a stack of 100’s, than a $15k car. But really I like going scary fast for cheap, 400whp Silverado 5M $7k, 1300whp Silverado 4A $14k, 990whp 335i 6M $20k.

    You know funny enough I’ve been looking for porsches as a first super car and one that you left out that I think should of been on this list is the Porsche Panamera I found one for 15K and another for 18k which I’m definitely going for

    If you are talking cheapest you forgot about the 914 and 924. They're often overlooked.
    I got to ride in the 914-6 and it was a go cart.
    Porsche should come out with a serious small light fuel efficient(maybe even hybrid) commuter.
    Something like a Honda Civic SI that's cheaper than the Boxster.
    They can call it the 925.
    They kinda screwed themselves jumping up to the 99- series because they're running out of 9s.
    It's gotta be the Porsche 1000 or go back to the numbers they skipped.
    940,970?
    I'm sure there's a logical German explanation and solution.
    Start over at 101b?

    I own a 08 Porsche Cayenne GTS. I have had it for about 6 years now. It has been super reliable for me. I have an order in for M2 CS. But I would like to have a fun 6 speed Porsche for the winter for under 30k. I can not find a S model in that range from 2009 - to 2014. I do not want to settle for a base.

    have to have one out of each gen beginning with 996 (not that I don't like 993 and the predecessors, simply can't afford or find them in China). 996 4S or a 996 targa are good choices, 996 turbo would be cool as well but I'd buy a 997.1 turbo to enjoy the Merzger engine and the newer interiors. 996 GT3 series is already too expensive to afford for most people. As for 997, I've already mentioned the .1 turbo, besides that, if you haven't had a 996 targa, the .2 targa 4S could also be a good choice (because they are rare, only 2000+ were produced during 2009-2012) and it comes with the first gen with PDK, marks a milestone in Porsche's history. Starting with 991, anything manual would be cool because they started produce much less MT models. 991.1 Carrera S or if you could get a hold of 911R, don't mess up with 991.1 GT3 . For 991.2, definitely the GT3, the most affordable GT3 you could get and much reliable than the previous ones.

    Both are great in there own way, had looked at Caymans because before the 911 GT3 or GT4 came out it would pass a GT2 in a road course That Cayman in a great price. It's half of what usually see anywhere, though, will never buy another black car.. 10 minutes after washing there 's dust on it, and when fires the ash is more visible. Therefore, White, or Silver. My Mustang is Black because the white were base model in the trim level due to fleet type packages, which lacked safety features ( more importantly Fog Lamps ). Thanks, Brad for sharing you to great cars hopefully, some day would buy a Cayman S with the 6 Speed Manual. I miss the Manual Transmission, Almost bought a 2018 Jaguar F-Type SVR and didn't because they're only Paddle shifters

      @@IdealMediaChannel Yes, had Seen 2 different Audi R8's ( V8 & V10 ) loose on the Road course track. Been a Ford fan & Lotus, though, American Mfg. have no respect for the Muscle Car Culture Dodge Chargers and the recent discontinued Duster became either a 4 cylinder only, & or a 4 door. The Mustang will be dethroned by this category with the Mach E 4 door variant.
      In order to qualify for the Muscle Car segment it requires the following:
      1. Made in America only ....Hemi
      Manufacture in Canada 🙄
      2. Must have a V8 in the lineup ( Trim Levels )
      3 . Must Seat 4 ( 1 Driver & 3 Passengers )
      4. Made between 1964 to 1974, though, in 2003 the Mustang Mach1 was considered a Muscle Car
      5. Must have only 4 doors only in it's production history

      @@Mark-rt6fy as long as whoever had them before took good care of them, they are very reliable. Finding parts is pretty easy online. Call around your town and ask mechanics if they will work on your car. Some wont but most will. There are tons of videos on youtube of people working on their 944 and 928s... everything from just changing the oil to entire engine and transmission rebuilds. If you have any other questions feel free to ask me and i'll try to help out.
