An excellent 'What's in the Box' First Impressions. I've returnred to modelling after decades. Things have certainly moved from the 60's. Your video has been most helpful.

Great review. The example you mentioned in 1940 is an aircraft that raided the Italian Fleet at Taranto.

Although the Bismarck operation gets all the glory, I'd suggest that we should remember their contributions in the Med more. Operation Judgement was the attack on Taranto by Swordfish's from HMS Illustrious (including HMS Eagle's squadrons). You might say that operation changed the nature of naval warfare for good.

If I recall correctly,Taranto only used a crew of two, with the gunner swapped out for an auxiliary field tank. Did Airfix model that ?

Agree they saw some historic action in the med

Wasn’t it witnessed by a Japanese official and thence, inspired the Pearl Harbour attack?

I picked up a first-release of this kit second hand... I am going to have to have a gander at the sprues to campare the quality to that of your later release.

Thank you for the review. I have two kits of this same 2017 made in the UK re-box. Both of them have the same lumps and bumps on the fuselage that you have. Quite disappointing really, it has to be that the mold for this frame is defective. I wonder if the new 2020 re-box will have these as well. I wouldn't be surprised, the 1/72 has had the defective parts through the years. Still enjoy Airfix kits though, have tens of the Hornby era kits in my stash.

This kit was a new tool in 2012 and, according to Scalemates, was also boxed as a Sink the Bismarck gift set with the appropriate decals. Perhaps Airfix will re-release it later this year?

I built the sinks the Bismarck version, Airfix missing a trick if they don't re-release

Great first impression video, Mr. Stuff. I recently built the Tamiya Swordfish in 1/48 and used Tamiya's PE bracing wires. It was a bit of a challenge in 1/48... I can't imagine trying it in 1/72! I'm looking forward to seeing this one built.

Love the Stringbag...but only have one 1/72 kit left in the stash...and when it's done...it's probably like the 1/700 ships...just have to go bigger. On the sink marks and blemishes...are you sure they aren't trying to duplicate the imperfections in the covering? Thanks for the review. Someday I may have to do a 1/48 or 1/32 version of the Swordfish.

I definitely think mould issues I would love Airfix to do a 1/24 Swordfish

@@ModelkitStuff I'd jump ALL over a 1/24 Swordfish from Airfix!
