    Good work , nice wheel ..
    I would suggest the centre bolt should be tightened before the airbag unit is connected to make it easier with clear access.
    I recently changed up to a 2007 steering wheel for my 2005 CLK55 AMG ,,it has better paddles and perforated leather sections on the wheel.

      When you say "...better paddles" do you mean actual paddle shifters vs. the OEM buttons?

      Yeah I realized my mistake after connecting everything so I figured, screw it.
      If I repost this video with voice overs it's in the script to explain that.

      @@smsunder Yes , rather than buttons they actually extend away from the wheel and are marked with a + or a -
      with no marking on the wheel like the older ones.
      They are not large paddles like some of the newer cars but they are paddles.
      Have a look at 07 08 09 build CLK's and you will see what they are like.
      They also work fine on my 5 speed despite being previously on a car with a 7 speed trans.

      @@Leo555ZZZ I installed G Paddles on my '06 SLK55 AMG that are the right size and work so much better than the buttons

      @@smsunder That's good ..my reason to change was to get a wheel with better condition leather , it is also a more modern appearance . One of my buttons had also stopped working , so getting the new wheel solved that problem as well , and the paddles were a bonus.

    Hi Richard. Very nice steering wheel and the dual camera video showing the removal and installation.
    What wheel is this? Did the buttons function normally as with the OEM wheel? What about the paddle shifters?

      Yes , everything works as per the original.

    Would this work for an R171 350 that doesn’t have the buttons on the back?

    Where can I buy this steering wheel?
    Would it also work on a 2009 R171 non amg (version with facelift)?

      I got mine off ebay from a seller name Ledermanz. If your car already has shift buttons in the wheel it should work. I think the 350 had this as an option

    Where to buy this steering wheel?

    Why you use the old airbag and buttons? Does the harness not fit with the new one?

    • @coupesandroadsters
      @coupesandroadsters  ปีที่แล้ว

      Not sure I follow what you're asking but I'll try to infer. I used the old air bag and buttons because this steering wheel is the same dimensions/style as the original. There wouldn't be a reason to put in a new air bag.
      This not an LCI steering wheel, which would require a new airbag and buttons. I do not like the LCI style at all and that's why I bought this wheel. It came with cutouts for the LCI paddles which are better than the pre-LCI button shifters.

      @@rapatti007 I completely disagree, different people have different taste and that's ok.
      If you want the LCI wheel you can just buy the LCI wheel and airbag.

      @@coupesandroadsters would that be cheaper without the airbag and buttons if you dont like them?

    • @coupesandroadsters
      @coupesandroadsters  ปีที่แล้ว

      @@rapatti007 When you buy a steering wheel it doesn't usually come with the air bag or controls. You usually buy a steering wheel that is shaped to fit whichever parts you already have.
