- Is the Tyre Glider any good ? I wanted to find out for myself after seeing a few adverts and videos around. Just to be clear I was sent the Glider but I have no affiliation with them and get no commission so my review is honest and impartial.

I have tried all the gadgets to remove and replace a tyre and after I got one of these they all went to a local charity shop. I bought a 2nd just in case I manage to lose one. I have percevered and learned how to get some tyres back on with my hands but to be honest using this little gadget is so much easier. Easily the best cycling accessory I have bought
Yes I totally agree after I used it. Yes on my first try I made a mess of it but I wanted to show that to be honest. But the second time it went on so easy I could not believe it..... very impressive little gadget 😀
I regularly put Vaseline on the tyre bead after I fix a flat
and it helps to get the tyre on and off the ‘normal’ way.
It would probably help with this device as well.

soapy water is another "trick" to help ease the bead over the side of the rim -- make sure to clean your rim afterwards if you use rim brakes. ;-)

I use it already for more than a year on my trekkingbike equipped with the most stubborn tyres ever invented, Schwalbe Matarthon Plus. Veeeery happy with it. 30 sec to take of or put back and no risk of punctures by using classic metal levers. A commuter and bikepacker!
I have to admit when I first heard of the tyre glider I thought it was some kind of gimmick that would not work. But when I tried it I was so wrong - yes you have to get the technique right but once you do its amazing and works so well
Very good video John, it looks a handy little gadget especially like you say, for removing the tyre and it also did a good job of re fitting it on the second attempt. I still have the pink tyre removers that I won on your prize draw John and by the way there must have brought me good luck because I’ve not had a puncture since😀
Yes it did work well especially when I did it the second time it really does seem a good little gadget and I was very sceptical about it. Happy your pink tyre levers are keeping the punctures away. Only the best for my viewers 👍😀

To add my two cents: this is a good product. Getting the tire off is significantly easier than with levers. Getting the tire on is not effortless, but this definitely gives you a mechanical advantage over using your hands or levers (and without risking the tube as levers do). I've changed three road tires with this and it's been easy every time. That said, I haven't used it on the two sets of GP5000s that, in the past, have caused me to consider quitting cycling (although my current set of GP5000s went on like butter). Still, I can't help but think this would have saved me a few blisters. As the video shows, it's important to get the tool perfectly hooked to the rim, and this took me a few tries as well.
Yes you are right using these is not effortless and I do think some tyres will be easy and some will be very difficult and maybe some that it won't work with at all but its a good product and a really good idea. Its good to see someone thinking of a new way to remove and replace tyres but because we have used tyre levers for so long people are suspicious like I was. I was being honest as possible in my review and I do think its a great product although it is a little pricey for what it is
You're right--the off is so magical (or has been so far) compared with levers, it makes you wonder why nobody ever thought of it before. The on is a little less self-evident, or more clever, but a definite improvement. Thanks for the video, by the way. I was on the fence and bought it after watching--the honesty was apparent. I'm happy to spend $15 on something I'll end up using dozens of times, but you always wonder if you're wasting your money.

I just got one and it's fantastic! Just put a new set of Conti GP5000 with a TPU tube on my bike like 5 minutes ago. Made the job so easy.

Top tip though always when fitting finish off at the valve core, especially on tubeless, basically the valve stops the tyre bead from sitting in the middle gully of the rim, the inner gully is a smaller diameter hence gives you more slack on the bead 👌

I got mine today and can honestly confirm that it literally took no more than 10 seconds to get a 700x 28 tyre on and 10 seconds to get it off. This was a brand new tyre from Halfords that I tried on a spare wheel. I haven’t tried taking the 700x 25 tyres of my road bikes as yet but I’m very confident it will do the job. Absolutely amazing…😮

I bought 5 about 2 months ago. I gave one to a friend. It snapped on him, the company replaced it. Now for getting off the rim, best gadget ever. Putting back on, between my buddy and i on recumbent bikes. Could not find a rim that the groove fit. So i have a tire Jack that pulls the tire on with out worrying about the rim thickness. The 20in tyres i use are really hard to get off, tyre glider is great. And the putting back on tire Jack works great. I do have some rims that will work. But unfortunately none of them are currently in use.
Yes I have heard about that with certain rims and even Kevin (really nice bloke) who owns the company said that you may have to file the grove on the tyre glider to make it fit on some rims. He also said "scoop is a bit thick to get under tight beads which will look to rectify on next tooling" so he knows its a work in progress but I think its brilliant that someone is finally trying to do something about the pain of removing and fitting tyres on bikes.
Try it with some GP5000TR's... 2 bent tyre levers, almost 2 snapped thumbs...so tried the glider. Didn't even come close! TBH I'm not sure anything will make getting those on any easier!
Yeah I have only tried them on the MTB tyres so far and as you saw in the video the first time did not work so well to start with but then it seemed to work great and the second time was good to. But I don't doubt it will reach its limits with some tyres but its great to see someone at least trying to do something new. The owner seems a nice bloke and said they are going to be making a new version so lets see how that one goes
Bummer. The tightest ever tyre/rim combo I've had was a GP3000 and a Rigida DP18. Wow! I was on the side of the road for about 20 mins getting it back on after a flat

Yeah I wanted to show it as someone would do it for the first time. Once I had worked out the angle it worked perfectly.... its really a good bit of kit
If you make sure that the bead of the tyre is in the centre of the wheel on the opposite side to where you are struggling to get the bead over the rim, there is more slack and it goes on easily. I got my ebike tyre back on using the tyre glider with ease. I had just about given up using conventional methods. Also, finish near the valve as you cannot get the bead in the centre at the valve.

Brilliant, just changed my Fury front tyre to a Hillbilly winter trail tyre, its on offer at the mo for £28, the Trailboss I will save for the summer, was thinking of this gadget as it keeps coming up on my socials, will check it out, my metal tyre levers took the paint off my new Furys black wheel trims! gutted, wouldnt have that problem with this gadget
Yeah I always used to use the metal tyre levers like I show in the video as I found the plastic type ones just snapped but you are right they can do damage to the wheels. I must admit when I saw adverts for the Tyre Glider I was very sceptical which is why I did the video the way I did without me practising off camera. It is a brilliant little gadget though once you get the knack of using it.
I lost the first one on a ride, and replaced it with two more: one for the seatbag, and one for the home shop. It works, and it's cheap. I'm for it. So many new bike gimmicks are jewelry (Lezyne? the return of Silca?); it's great to have a simple product that just works. (And fellow Yanks - they're shipping from the US now.)
Yes I agree as I said in the video its nice to see something being tried in cycling that is not just for show or some silly gimmick but something that solves a problem and as you say it does work. I was sceptical but once I got the hang of it (quickly) it works great

Good to see John struggle a bit, I’ve failed miserably with schalbe gravel tyres and Dt Swiss wheels. Albeit, same issue with ‘old fashioned’ tyre levers. I guess it’s me 😢
Yes I did struggle Edward but once I got the knack it worked great😀 although recently I went to use it again and I struggled again so it certainly takes a certain technique to get it right. The manufacturer told me he is making another version so it would be good to try that one
The reason it gets tight is you don't end at the valve as you put the tyre on. Pretty basic tho, for this is the only place where the tyre can't be in the deep center of the rim bed where its diameter is at its smallest. So...take it off starting at the valve, ending there as you put one one. Also, press the tyre away from the higher heel to get it into the deep part...popo pop pop...every day job. Love the birds.

@@paulb9769Sorry for late notice... -you- meaning what I saw you do. So...to make things work...tyre off start at the valve, tyre on end there. There's know how, and then there's know why. Easier to remember if you do.
Hi I've just ordered a trye glide I have 64mm rims hoping it will make it easier to fit my Schawlbe pro 1, the rims are Hollowgram from my Cannondale system six.
Its a good little gadget but be aware you might need to practice a few times to get the 'knack' of using it like I did. But saying that some people use it first time with no problems. But regardless once you have the 'knack' it works great
Doesn't say what type of bead the tire or tyre has, wire bead or folding bead.

Oh that is not good I did not have that problem and it seemed pretty sturdy.... I would contact them and let them know and get a replacement . I talked to the owner and he seems a nice bloke

tyre refused to leaving the rim for few seconds, before spitting itself off the rim, online video on Amazon lasts just under two mins, the lady presenter is in a hurray, easiest ten thousand she has ever earned. nothing in your or hers mentions being stabbed in the hand by the pointed bit.bruised knucles and a sore palms are the price I have to pay for owning a diamondback mountain bike.
I thankfully never stabbed my hand or I would have said but I could see how it could happen. It did take a bit of trial and effort to get it just right though as it was stuck for me until I tilted it out a bit and then it worked great
