    if the glider start to get harder to push go to the opposite side of the rim and pinch the tire to the middle of the rim so the tire get lossen and start to push the glider..it become more easier to push wirh a little force

    @AG-el6vt ปีที่แล้ว +6

    To slide the glider around the rim, I find it easier to stand up and push it forward from above, so you can leverage your body weight to help you.

    Exactly my experience. I struggled after work trying to get my rear off and eventually gave up and used a combi of tyres levers to work the bead off then this. Getting back on then the Rehook comes into its own

    • @cyclingunboxed
      @cyclingunboxed  ปีที่แล้ว

      It just makes light work of getting every tyre back on doesn’t it.

    I got pro bike tool tyre levers, they don't even hook there so thick! I have 27.5 big Betty on the rear it sucked down to one side when let air out to put sealant in the tube, and took 4hrs to get it seated back on the bead! Help from dish soap and high psi and bit working it popped in! I ordered one these just for seating the damb thing next time no way I'd be able fix that at side of the road!

      @cyclingunboxed  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      If you have a very thick rim, I have been told the red one is for wider rims. The blue one sorts out all road bike rims but may still need something wider for MTB / Gravel

    I have a red one, it is absolutely brilliant.

    • @cyclingunboxed
      @cyclingunboxed  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I have been told that the red one has a wider rim hook. ‘Waning it can accommodate more MTB and gravel tyres.
      Haven’t tested this out for myself though

    I just tried the Tyre Glider today with my Gatorskins. I rate it a 7 out of 10. For removal I found one lever to start then the Glider. For installation, if you're really having a problem try the Koolstop lever. Much better IMHO.

  • @charlesmiv3842

    Have you tried Kool Stop's Tire Bead Jack? It's another extremely helpful tool that's specialized for getting tires mounted. I find it to be safer to use on carbon wheels than this.

    • @cyclingunboxed
      @cyclingunboxed  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I have not but it looks good. Do you carry it in your pocket as it looks a bit too big for a saddle bag

    • @charlesmiv3842
      @charlesmiv3842 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@cyclingunboxedNo, I use it at home when I rotate tires or take them off for whatever reason at home. I carry the glider in my jersey. But the Kool Jack is so good for comfortable and easy installation at home.

    It’s great but get the red one the blue one does not fit all rims

    • @dperreno
      @dperreno 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Actually, the blue one is identical to the red one and made on the exact same tool - it is just a "special edition" marketed by Rehook. This according to Kevin Baker, the guy who invented the thing.

  • @terrortorn

    A reasonable supplement to tyres levers but that is a wide hook to get under a tight tyre. I had exactly the same problem as you did, It is not a replacement for levers.

  • @James-rf2ln
    @James-rf2ln 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    I have a tyre-rim combo so tight I can't even push the tyre off the bead by hand at all, I need a bench vice. I'm guessing this product wouldn't make much difference to me

    • @cyclingunboxed
      @cyclingunboxed  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      That sounds unbelievably tight! I don’t think I have ever had one that bad. I’m guessing it’s not a 650b tyre on a 700 rim?

    • @James-rf2ln
      @James-rf2ln 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@cyclingunboxed No it’s a 29” Halo Gravitas wheel with 29” continental cross king, the tightest combo ever. You have to grip it tight in a vice up to the rim and then fold the wheel in the vice using leverage to break the bead, then u can push the rest of the tyre into the centre and use levers. I have other bikes that I can change without using even levers, this one’s just ridiculous

  • @SimonCurrey
    @SimonCurrey ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Recently mounted Challenge 27mm tyres which are notoriously difficult. The Glider was like an extra pair of hands holding the tyre on rim opposite the valve. Plenty talc tpu tubes and it took mere minutes. Challenge XP elite pro give a fast, great riding tyre that's robust.

    is it safe to use on carbon rims? will it leave scratch marks?

    • @cyclingunboxed
      @cyclingunboxed  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I tape up the inside with some electrical tape on the face that touches the rim just in case of this. Had no problems with it this way and haven’t wanted to risk it without the tape

    Quick question, will the Rehook tyre glider replace normal levers in your tool bag when out cycling?

    • @cyclingunboxed
      @cyclingunboxed  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Probably not because they are so good for getting the tyre off initially but it will if you want it to. I keep it in my bar bag for my commuter bike

    • @jonmathias6159
      @jonmathias6159 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Tried on the rear tyre of my velomobile which is a bitch to get done. Same conclusion: getting it off a normal lever (at least to get started) works easier. Getting it back on the Tyre Glider works better.
