I have a 21 Silverado 5.3. Took a Rough Country cat back, replaced the RC muffler with a Flowmaster Super 10.
How was the rough country exhaust before you replaced the RC muffler?
@@dontrom1588 It was probably about 70 per cent of the decibels. It was a vast improvement over stock. For about $40 you can switch it out for a cherry bomb using the extension piece that comes with the RC kit. or $80 for a flow master

For my 2017 Silverado 6.2L, I've got a muffler delete, 3inch pipe...to a y pipe...into 2.5inch dual pipes, still got my all my cats. I want it be a little louder. I might replace the third with a high flow cat. Maybe? Yes?
Yes or you could remove it completely. I have a 2015 Silverado removing it didn’t make my engine light come on and made it louder a
Remove it completely. Did that with my 18 5.3.
Remove cats completely not sure if you'll need a tune.

Hey guys, on that 2021 Silverado Trail Boss with the Borla Touring Exhaust system, is there anything on the market that would sound very similar that i could put on my 2006 GMC Sierra 4.8L? I love the deep and tight sounding exhaust.
On mine I got a magna flow exhaust from my buddy he had it on his 07 Silverado and it had a 4.8l too honestly sounded awesome on it

@@BackFortyTV you must not know how welding works, welding is easy but doing it perfectly in a straight line takes extreme skill and most dudes who work at muffler shops do sloppy welds because it’s extremely time consuming to do it perfectly and would cost alot more to be done because of the time consuming labor to weld it almost perfectly
@@Peculiarsafe83 I weld everything myself, looks pretty good. Real simple to unbolt everything and wore weld it up. Not talking down at all, but if you’re going to run a shop, do it right. Weld like it’s yours and don’t drive people’s vehicles like a maniac to show off for TH-cam. Simply put.

Ok.... I've watched vigorously and love you guys wisdom. On my 02 avalanche 5.3.... the muffler delete is a bit loud in the morning for the neighbors. I want a LOW tone, louder on acceleration and no cackling. No problem deleting the 3rd cat. Cat to tip suggestions? Thanks!
I would recommend Jones Exhaust/North Eastern in the place of your stock muffler. It would give you the tone you are looking for.

Any recommendations on an exhaust tip? I have an 08 Silverado 5.3L with a flow master Super 10
Bend the end of your tail pipe(s) 30-60 degrees and put anything that doesn’t hang down too far. Like the first video. 3 1/2” to 4” will get the job done on dual tips. Probably a 4” or 5” on a single. That straight under the rear bumper stuff looks corny to me personally unless it has cutout outlets in the bumper like the third truck. So do oversized tips though. That’s just my opinion though lol. Everybody has their own preference. Just do what you like 👍🏻.
After removing the “flap” does it throw a code ? I’m buying a 2021 Chevy 1500 Silverado with the 5.3 , will it have that flap ? Cheers
It doesn’t
The flap also eventually wears in it and starts making squeaky noise which is super annoying

What all can you do to the exhaust without voiding a warranty?
That can void the warranty ? I thought it was only big stuff like tunning and stuff
does cutting the flap off effect the active fuel management in the GM trucks?
No but you need to turn that off anyway with a range AFM delete if you want your exhaust to sound good

How big of a difference in sound is there if you take the resonator out that’s after the third cat
It's a huge difference in my experiences. My '07 is dualed-out with 2.5" and y-pipe, and finished up with 6" slash cut tips. I got rid of the resonator when we cut out all the factory pipe. It sounds perfect. I could upload and post a video on my TH-cam channel if you want me to.. It would be my first upload 😆

Not that I've done it myself 😜 but if you remove that secondary cat after the y and just put a normal piece of pipe in its place you get no codes and sounds best no need for a aftermarket high flow cat.

Deleting the third cat won’t go against any codes ? I wanna do my gmc , currently running a regular aftermarket dual exhaust but I want it to be louder , suggestions ?
@@yoseeev8306 No the O2 sensors are before the 3rd cat. Definitely makes it deeper in sound when your on it, as well as at idle.

On that Avalanche, did you do a 3rd cat delete? Looked like some kind of flange before the Flex pipe....Also no link to that 6" tip?
I don’t remember but some didn’t come with the 3rd cat on some years.

Only problem is when it drops down to 4 cylinder mode. On any after market exhaust.
get a tuner to delete that, or buy the software for it to do it yourself (efi live i think) but it'll be expensive

@@elcompatavo9365 that was a factory option borla. I had a adjustable borla on my trans am with no block off plate and it was loud. Even though that was basically straight pipe most of borlas mufflers are straight through design which makes em on the louder side. But they are pricy.
Not everybody wants to spend $700+ for a exhaust. You just sound really dumb.
