He can do definitely better than that, those are fast laps but not optimal for a driver of his calibre.
Consider that on those track Moto2 does 1.36, generally speaking on most of the international circuits Moto2 are around 2 seconds faster (in 4-5km) than stock 1000cc bikes, so the EWC bike will probably be around 1.37 and the original one around 1.39-1.40 as optimal.
      N.B.
Yep, last year Le Mans qualifying on EWC brings some nice 1.36.xx laps.
Obviously, this wasn't his point, during track days with traffic and no real reasons he wants just to do some fast lap to make clear the differences.

That was epic, possibly the best yet. That poor young lad on the superstock running wide as he is struggling to shake the road bike with number plate, mirrors and indicators. So even with the extra weight, and you still have bog standard breaks on it right? You were still not loosing out on your braking distances. It’s unbelievably impressive. Great riding as well!

Salut Sylvain, always a pleasure to see your videos and learn a bit more from you.
Knowing that competition bikes have reverse shift (foot down to gear up and foot up to gear down), how you do on your road bike? Have you replicated it on your road bike? If not, how do you do to change and adapt such a critical procedure? It must be very demanding mentally!!! I'd get all mixed up!
    Cheers from Portugal

Yeah, the difference between when Sylvain runs out of talent and us mere mortals is that he stays on on the tarmac, just lost a second or two. When we run out of talent, it's often a lot of "grass, sky grass, sky, grass" and broken bike involved... :)

@Greg I was being a little exaggerated in my description. I do track days, at moderate speed. I'm usually quite safe, but have, like many others, I'm sure, had a few spills - only one of those I blame on someone else's riding.
I'm too afraid of running out of talent to try really hard, if that makes sense...

As always, fantastic footage! Thanks alot for taking the effort to create this content! Very interesting indeed to see the differences between road and superstock.
There's just one thing I noticed: the telemetry graphics seems to be ahead of the actual video footage (or the footage is behind the graphics). It's noticable when decelerating and also when looking at the lean angle. I believe it is possible with racechrono to offset the video with the data, so that they are back in sync again.

In these onboard laps, I didn’t touch the rear brake, just used the engine brake. When I talked about locking the rear, it’s the engine brake that locks it. Basically when I brake VERY hard, the rear wheel doesn’t have much contact with the ground so at that moment it’s easy to lock it. Actually this is very long to explain, I should make a video about what goes on when braking very hard 😄
