    ❤Rebecca - try using blue painters tape on the floor to measure out your rooms - it’s a great way to better visualize the actual space before walls go up👍 I even used this trick to help me decide on the size of our kitchen island❤ God bless you guys! Hugs too!❤

    I recommend you put the new cold room in one of the stalls next to the stairs way and a milk processing room on the other side of the stairway. That way you can access it through the central hallway down below. Milk processing should have a sink with hot and cold water and drain. A dumb waiter added to send and receive food to the kitchen would help with lugging the milk , cream and food. Another stall near those two out fitted for a pantry/larder.

    It seems like a lot of people have missed the countless times Justin has said in previous videos, ashes from the wood boiler go onto the pastures. If there are screws/nails/staples in that ash the animals could eat it and get hardware disease. Justin and Rebekah are very conscious of the decisions they make and the actions they take. As well as the actions they haven’t taken YET, i.e., Lily’s horse. I have been watching them for six years now on YT there is a rhyme or reason 99.97% of the time. Everyone has an opinion in the comments but that doesn’t mean they have all the information to form an educated opinion.

  • @doityourselflivinggardenin7986
    @doityourselflivinggardenin7986 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    It probably would have been cheaper and faster to doze the house and start over. The cost of the demo must be crazy. Getting this structure up to code is going to be costly, but you already know that. I renovated a house and built a house. I would never renovate again. The cost to demo and for fixing problems with an old building can be more than new construction that is straightforward.
    Finding out the cost to rebuild when the demo is almost done is not a good way to plan your finances. Where was the planning? You kept taking more and more and more out each time you took something else out. Seems like that should have been well planned out ahead of time and done all at once, not piecemeal. If you have workers standing around talking about things, you are paying them to do nothing. Keep the workers moving and have expectations for what work needs to be done.
    Don't get estimates; get quotes. If your contractor cannot put a stake in the ground for a cost, then get another one. I've fired contractors that tried to bleed me dry. A contractor should come in when they are supposed to, get the work done steadily and timely, and then leave. No diddling around wasting time. Do not let them drag things out. It will cost you. Keep them moving. Make sure materials are there before they get there. You don't want them sitting in their trucks waiting for materials because they will charge you for it.
    There should be no reason to be remeasuring everything at this stage. You have blueprints. You already planned and paid for them. Let the framers do their work now and get out of their way. Every time you change things, you set everyone and yourself back. That costs you more money and time. Contractors allocate time to your and other customers' projects. If you fall behind, you could lose the next contractor in the timeline becaue they will move on and do the next customer, kicking you out of the queue.
    My guess is that you are doing it this way to get videos. Man, this is going to be costly. But heck, if it gets views and makes you money because of it, then I guess it works. But if you really want a house built correctly, then tighten the ship and get'r done.
    I had a toddler when I built my house and he slipped on a board and injured his shin. Nothing major, but we were certainly more careful afterwards. A construction site is not a good place for young children.
    Best of luck. Good to see you moving around well again.

    Oh, the cost of every change to the plan, THAT'S where my brain goes. Maybe stop, evaluate, and then go ahead.

    Slide the unit out of the metal outer box, then remove the screws in the box to hold it in the wall!

    We own a Pressure Washing company and in the south the humidity make all the roofs 😮mold with organic material. 5%bleach would make that all go away with one treatment

    I get the barn-house is sentimental as your father built it. But at this point, you may as well just demolish it. That contractor is just stealing your money left and right, Hes gunna have a good paycheck after hes done with yall.

      If the house was sentimental, a modest remodel would have sufficed. It looks like they did mostly demolish it.
