Becky, there are many things to love about your summer home.
    1. It's temporary
    2. It's twice the space you had on your bus.
    3. This too, shall pass.
    4. It's a summer home
    5. It has a fabulous view of your new home being built.
    6. You're going to be okay.

Long time viewer, love watching you guys. I’m not sure if you are accepting feedback about this, but we are really struggling to follow along with these latest videos. There’s not much breathing room from one cut to the next, so it’s hard to register what’s going on. The old style was perfect imo. Just my two cents. Hope y’all are doing well during this stressful move.

It's so interesting to me that when they came back from vacation, Justin was the one freaking out and Beck was lifting his spirits and now at this point of the process Justin seems so much in his element and Beck is the one needing the support. It's so awesome how you both compliment each other = relationship goals!

We went from a huge 2 story home with a 2 plus cae garage to a one and a half bedroom single story one car garage. I filled the big garage 3 times. Literally filled with sell and donate stuff. It was hard and tears were shed but at the end of the day it's just stuff and I don't miss any of it. My h7sband and I got to enjoy a simpler ( not minimalist) life for 8 years before he passed unexpectedly. I cherish our time we got to focus on us and not stuff. I'm betting you will accumulate some things but not nearly as much. Thanks for sharing this. It's not easy

@@lindao1327 It is very hard and sometimes so overwhelming. We are living in our overfilled home (acquired stuff from my deceased parents that I couldn't let go of at the time) as we remodel and instead of sorting and eliminating my hubs is just moving it and piling it in different rooms so it was hard before but now it is like an episode of Hoarders! Enough is enough and I will do the Swedish Death Cleaning soon. Yep, it is a real thing, Google it, the elderly declutter and organize so their families don't have to deal with it when they pass.

I don’t know I raised four kids on a farm and one freezer worked. The trick is to use what u have not keep adding to it. 1/2 a beef 1/2 pig and 50 chickens will keep a family going for 6 months. 3000 jars of canned vegetables, fruits and meats. Good for 7 months or so.

As a mom that has packed and moved her entire family of 5 six separate times, I feel your pain. Packing and moving has also been the reason why I see myself as a minimalist. Now I clear out junk multiple times a year. If you haven’t used it at least once in the past year, you don’t need it 😂

I recently moved from the home that I'd lived in for 40 years (while I raised 3 sons) into my father's house (after his passing) ... I totally understand 'decision burnout' ... I'd gotten so tired of all the piles and piles of things that needed sorting, that when all was said and done my clothing options consisted of 3 T-shirts, 3 nice tops, two pairs of jeans, 6 pairs of lounge pants (and underclothing, of course) ... Give yourself enough time to take breaks BEFORE you get overwhelmed :-/

As a military brat, I moved every 18 months when I was young. It was always traumatic, but we followed the USMC slogan, "Improvise, adapt, and overcome". I hate moving so much. Mostly because of the packing - the last couple of times we've moved, I've been the one to pack all the boxes, clean the house, move the boxes, and unpack them because my husband is physically unable to. It's a LOT of work for one person. You're so blessed to have a house full of hard workers - but it also means more stuff. It's a very overwhelming situation that I do not envy you. Just keep thinking about how lovely it'll be when it's all done and you're in the new place - that's what I do.

For your freezers, do you keep an ever growing amount of space for produce or do you keep freezer space volume based on food production/consumption cycles? I ask because the minimalist in me thinks, excess storage = excess stuff and wondering if youre noticing that youre finding missed chickens / beef from a whiiiile ago as you move everything. She really was brutal!! But no church could complain about moving too much! ❤Learning what is dear to your heart is so important. You are going to move into your forever home. Know what kind of house you are going to be putting things back into. Will you be able to open all those boxes again and find a place for every last little item. I sure am saying you will! Hope you prove me right!!! ✳✳✳ Enjoy your time off now. Enjoy building your new home. Love those evenings looking at your new home while still working your homestead. We moved from Texas to Florida a year ago from our first home we lived in for 20 years. You don’t realize how much you accumulate 🤣
We said we will never move again. 🤣🤣🤣
Thankfully for us, we had y’all that gave us the example of what we truly wanted in a forever home. 20 acres with our dream home.
Thank you for all you do. And one piece of advice,… breathe.

I moved 12 times in 20 years and now I'm staying put. Just think Bec, you only have to move to the cabin temporarily and then, when you get back in your new house, you'll never have to move again.

I really like containers, also when I moved I used a dozen collapsible crates that are in garage and very handy to have.

That episode where you guys were talking to Rebekah about her containers, I was just sitting here shaking my head. Containers are not bad. They keep clutter under control and allow you to organize your extra things that you don't "need" but come in handy or you just enjoy. I'm so not a minimalist and NEVER will be. Why? Because sentimentality will win out over minimalism for me every single day. Plus, there are some things I hold onto for not just sentimental reasons but practical ones, too. Those books you guys got rid of? Yeah, I'm just shaking my head here. Unless it's a book you just don't enjoy, I would NEVER suggest someone gets rid of a book! Not even children's books that your kids have outgrown! Those books can be there for your kids' kids to enjoy down the line. Or, closer to now, your family and friends' kids can enjoy them when they visit.
My husband was just commenting on my canning jars. He says "you never use them, they just sit there." I looked at him like he had two heads! Never use them?!?!? I use them when I have canning to do! Sometimes I need one or another size and if I don't have a surplus of the size I need, I can't can whatever I'm putting up that day. I'll always have empty jars available for the next canning adventure. All of my canning equipment is necessary, especially for when I end up with a serious garden. Tomatoes for days - YAY! LOL.
