Upgraded from a 970 to a B580 recently. It was a great GPU for like 10 years, but simply outdated in 2025 for newer games.

I like to remind people of Nvidia's 970 bulls**t. 3.5GB of full speed VRAM was ridiculous. I purposefully saved extra to get a GTX 980 that generation. Nvidia has been stingy with VRAM ever since.

Nvidia and VRAM who would’ve thought🤣

@@ProYamYamPC The fact that the GTX 1060 even had a 3GB option baffles me. Even it should have been 4GB or 8GB at least.

i recently bought one as placeholder for my brother as he just built his first rig a few weeks ago , but didnt got enough cash for the gpu .... i got it for like 10 bucks the evga model, i gave it a nice clean, repaste , and good to go ... we where blown away by its performance, also still has driver support ... really good card after all this years , he is happy with it and waiting patiently until he has the cash to get a new one ...

Hmm...in a nutshell, the GTX 970 4gb card is now literally a go-to e-sports video card. Playing games like Witcher 3, Cyberpunk 2077, SOTR etc will need more vram thus making the GTX 970 4gb no longer a viable option when playing those demanding campaign games🤔🙄

Those MSI TwinFrozr coolers were great, i had one later on a 1070 Ti, great temps and very quiet.

I’ve used multiple of these Twin Frozr cards. They’ve all been great. Even higher power ones like the 1080

this GPU will play Baldur's Gate 3 at high settings (but low shadows) at higher than 60 fps in act 1 and 2 without FSR, haven't made it to act 3 just yet, so can't tell you on that one. If you have the extra budget, try getting the GTX 980 though, as at least in the US, it's only 8-15 bucks more

Picked up the MSI version from CEX a couple of month ago for £45, chuck in a system with an I7 3770 or 4770k and be realistic with your expectations and its pretty decent.

100% and it will play virtually everything. If you’re into older games, this GPU is a gem

Nice Video as always bro! What I would like to see is a Gsync setup Video and how to keep the frames smooth without tearing because it really can be a hassle sometimes.

Damn, I bought one... 10 years ago... Like it was yesterday. But I wouldn't say it's the most controversial. 3,5gb was still 500mb more than gtx 780 and 780ti. That's like rtx 3080 and rtx 4070 now. 970 led a long life in ps4 era, playing 1080p on high and medium-high settings. Now, gtx 570 with its 1.28gb, THAT was bad. A little over a year later, 670 had 2gb and more performance to boot. That's almost worse than having bought an rtx 3070 new in 2021-2022...

Bro, i bought rtx 3060 ti in 2025.

@hrvojemilicevic3309 I mean, those who bought 3070 then, paid more for it than 4070 and even stronger cards cost. Only those who were buying used 2080tis won. I hope you got a sweet deal on that 3060ti, I wouldn't buy it new in store for around 350$ it's selling near me.

You should compare that to other cards - how it holds up in comparison.
If the card can't play a particular modern game well does not really say much (specially given the fact that many of those games are atrociously bad to begin with). What matters is how it held up against other cards of that time. If one card gets 10FPS in a game and this 15 FPS - or the other way around - as some outlets test is also mostly useless academic information - nobody wants to play like that. What matters is the games that are playable.
    Say cyberpunk: What about a GTX 780, GTX 980, GTX 1060, HD 7970, R9 290X, RX 480 ? Are there noteworthy differences?
    As for support:
Fermi: release 2010, 2018 announcement for EoS 2019
Kepler: release 2012, 2021 they announced EoS for 2024
So given that Maxwell was released in 2014 it would be reasonable to assume a 2025-2026 announcement.

Hi, Nice Video! I have a question, what do you think about buying a used 3070 nowdays? Would it be good? Well its a lot cheaper from a 4060 and on many games better. I plan on playing in 1080p.

    • @ProYamYamPC
      @ProYamYamPC  วันที่ผ่านมา +1

If you have the PSU for it, it's a much better deal than the 4060. Ideally if you can, I recommend a used RX 6800 though

Thanks for the answer! I will try to look around for the RX 6800.

Is the fortnite test recent because I had a gtx 970 build and struggled to maintain a clean 100fps on it and even my 1070 cant get that much

Yeah it was around a week ago. Performance was in line with what I was expecting on the performance API

Best card I ever owned.... played flawlessly 1080P all full !
I SLI' D this card with GTA 5 wow... it flew remember Motherboard Gigaabyte
Must have 16 pins and second PCI-E also 16 pins on the back of the board not 16 @ 8.
both will run at 8 then and you will actually loose performance in SLI!
