    The Key reason why you need more than 8gb is because AAA games are being done by lazy devs that use bloated libraries instead of rolling their own. Most AAA games run like crap and are crappy in general anyhow so my wallet will stay closed for those titles . When you have games from 2014 that look better than "Modern" games, there's 99.999% of the other games out there that will run fine on 8GB cards.

      Games have always needed more VRAM. I remember when people said 128MB was enough and 256MB was pointless. Games are released in a bad state these days and we have diminishing returns when it comes to graphics but it’s just simple facts that higher resolution textures use more VRAM and Raytracing as well. That isn’t about optimisation. We have had 8GB since the 1070 back in 2016. It’s crazy that 9 years on we still get 8GB on cards much more powerful. Not sure why people feel the need to defend Nvidia for skimping on VRAM when AMD and Intel shows you can get more VRAM for less money.

      @@wertywerrtyson5529 it's also weird that people treat 8gb like some holy limit that CANNOT be exceeded. most games now, even well optimized ones, need more than 8gb of VRAM just like most games nowadays need more than 16gb of RAM. games just got bigger and need better hardware to run.

    6-8 GB cards are def fine for budget entry builds with 1080P medium-high settings in mind, as you would still be looking at being able to play over 95 percent of what comes out on PC along with the massive back catalog of thousands of titles. But yeah going forward, and really been this way for a couple years now, no one should be spending more than $200 on any 8 GB card. I don't care of its a RTX 2070 Super, RTX 2080, or RTX 3070 even. Just don't spend over $200 on any of them. The vram amount needed isn't there to see those gpus full potential anymore on many new titles.

    • @GameslordXY
      @GameslordXY วันที่ผ่านมา

      You are incredibly naive if you believe that cards like RX6650XT or RTX4060 can't do better than 1080 Medium - High in newest titles.
      The problem is that tech influencers just LOVE to show worst examples.
      Big AAA titles are few.
      Amount of games that come each year is FAR more numerous than just a few AAA titles that people like to talk about.

    • @TheOldGodFX
      @TheOldGodFX 17 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา

      @@GameslordXY Proof is already there that said cards struggle when they hit their vram limit due to RT and texture size eating up vram. Said proof has not just been provided by "tech influences" but normal every day gamers posting on Steam reviews, here, Reddit, Guru3d and other website forums, etc. If you are lucky, the game will have been patched to compensate for this and just display muddy textures while assets load in, or suffer traversal stutters as new scenery loads in.
      But often running out of vram equals a crash. Been proven in multiple titles now, and this has been going on the past couple of years. Company of Heroes 3, The Last of Us, Hogwarts Legacy, Jedi Survivor, the newer Resident Evil titles, Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, Space Marine 2 (with 4k texture pack), and Dragon Age: The Veilguard are just a small sample of titles that need ample vram to run at higher/max settings.
      But I mean, please feel free to keep playing indie titles and C/D tier releases maxed out with overpriced 8gb video cards, and having to settle for lower settings when you decide you want to play an A tier title, when you could just as easily buy an RTX 3060 12GB in the same price bracket so you'd have more vram available for higher quality textures. No one ever said you couldn't. It's your money, do with it as you please.

When it comes to texture most often the quality is already very good starting from medium. @@arenzricodexd4409 I couldn't care less about ultra textures at 1080p, but I can tell the difference between high and medium textures in most games pretty easily. It's a matter of opinion, it's up to the player to decide what looks good. You're also saying to buy a card with more VRAM, but the 4060 we're talking about is already $300. The RX 7600 XT, which performs at the same level the 4060 does, has 16GB of VRAM and costs the same price on Amazon right now! There's absolutely no reason why the 4060 shouldn't have at least 10 or 12GB of VRAM, aside from planned obsolescence to force midrange customers into buying the next generation or making sacrifices in the settings menu.
      I'd also like to say, the 1060 did 1080p60 at all high settings just fine when that was in its prime, without AI trickery. Why aren't we holding the 4060 to the same standard? As I said, no amount of excuses will make the 4060 not underwhelming. It's honestly just a 4050 with bad value.

Apparently we can get decent performance on an APU these days using system memory, even when sharing that bandwidth with the CPU, so why not go back to making "budget" style cards using standard (but speedy) RAM? I think the last card that used standard RAM was an Nvidia card using DDR4, which was crap tbh, but it doesn't have to be like that. It shouldn't be particularly expensive to slap a large amount of DDR5 and have it be usable on a graphics card, say 12GB to 36GB?

    8gb gpus still hold as long as you don't care about newer gen games.
    8 GB of VRAM may not be enough for modern gaming, video editing, or deep learning because of the evolving demands of these activities:
    Gaming
    Modern games are more graphically demanding than ever before, and 8 GB of VRAM may not be enough to run them smoothly. Some say that 12 GB is the bare minimum, and 16 GB is ideal.
    Video editing
    8 GB of VRAM may be enough for editing projects smaller than 1080p, but 4K editing is nearly impossible.
    Deep learning
    6 GB to 8 GB of VRAM is recommended for medium-sized models and datasets, while 10 GB to 24 GB is ideal for large models and extensive datasets.
    However, 8 GB of VRAM may be enough for indie, eSports, and older games, as long as the GPU has enough raw gaming performance.

      @@jandraelune1 This might be your problem if you are still stuck using cards like the GTX 1060, but its not mine. My main pc has a RX 7900 XT in it. Even my secondary has a RX 6750 XT. My problem with new games tends to be just that they get released broken at launch and don't run at all/constant crashing. The Last of Us, Stalker 2, Space Marine 2, and more were plagued with this problem over the past few years. Some solid day 1 titles though that deserve some praise for not being broken on launch were Robocop, Company of Heroes 3, Dragon Age: The Veilguard, and the remake of Riven using UE5.

  • @robertmoore119

    The narrator is making a good point. Modern AAA titles are requiring more and more ram.
    I would like to support Intel with a purchase of a B580. Luckily, it does have 12Gb of ram. So that serves it very well within its target of 1440p. It should also work well at 1080, some say it doesn't get frames as high as some other cards, but it would be fine for my build plan.
    However, those new cards do have DDR7, the newest memory standard always comes at a premium cost. It would be nice if you could get that card for 200 or less, but I highly doubt that.
    Also, the other specs of that card were actually really good.
    I concur that when you run out of memory, the card will slow, but speed does matter.
    So buyers of those cards will just have to watch the game requirements. If it says you need more than you have and you run it anyway, don't expect high frames.
