My first bow was a Diamond Edge SB-1 (just an older model of the one in the video), and I still shoot it today. I have upgraded to a Revolt X and have an SR350 coming in, but that Diamond is still so much fun to just grab and go sling some arrows with. Not only is it fun, but it is a good bow to go back to as it has a lot less forgiveness than my other bows, so its a good reminder that I need to always rely on better technique and not the bow/components. Even if you have the means for a flagship type bow, I still recommend to anyone starting with one of these. When you do eventually upgrade, they still make a more than capable backup bow or better yet, a bow to hand down to someone else so they can shoot with you. Great video, and I wish more archery channels and shops would promote these lower end bows like you have!
I cut my teeth on a Bowtech Fuel, almost a predecessor to that Edge because it had Binary cams at a time when the Diamond line had a yoked cable. I shot that bow for a year, then went a different direction when I started chasing speed. Hasn't seen much use in the past 8 years, or so. I recently picked up an SS34, which I love, but tonight, I found myself shooting my Fuel again, which gave me a bit of nostalgia and a newfound appreciation for it. I may bring it back to my local pro shop, have it restrung and use it as a situational backup to my SS34.
I was just at the shop yesterday and I bought the Zion. I haven't shot since I was a teenager. I am in my early 40s now. I have a left shoulder problem. I must say the Zion is such a pleasure to shot. No problem with the shoulder shooting at 60lbs. Thanks Joe for hooking me up.
Just bought a Zion myself this weekend and I found it smoother shooter than the Bear Adapt 2 (with the full RTH+ package on it already) and the Darton Consequence 2 (which so many people absolutely loved and I preferred least) even though I had traveled to a different state to get my hands on and planned on buying right away (consequence). I found the Zion better than both. I really don’t think the Zion gets the love it deserves with current bows on the market. Sure some have newer features but comfort just wasn’t matched for me. Yes it costs a little more but save up, they are worth it. Decent accessories to start and the comment about the grip was a major seller for me with Darton being close 2nd on grip. Adapt dug into my thumb joint bone with the rubber grip on and found it too thin with that grip off. Adapt definitely has great accessories but maybe not as nice of a bow. The Zion comes with a nice drop away rest which the Bear could really use. The Darton comes with nothing but bear bow. It’s all about feel for me but the Zion did it.
Went from the diamond edge 320 to the carbon zion. Both fantastic bows. Honestly I can't tell much of a difference between the two. In fact if I wasn't passing the diamond to my husband who has shoulder damage (needs a lighter poundage bow), I wouldn't have upgraded. If your looking for a cheaper bow that still performs exceptionally, I can't recommend the diamond edge 320 and the carbon zion enough.
Was just at this shop on Tuesday! I was getting the sights adjusted on my new Bear Cruzer G2 (my first bow). Got to take my first few shots with it, and going to be getting some more target practice in on Sunday at a local range. Really enjoyed the service I experienced at this shop.
Great video . Now you need to do a video on older bows that you can get cheap. Don't leave out the bowtech experience plus some some of your older favorites because you can come across some of the older bows at a great price.
I have been running a Martin Saber compound bow I bought in 2011 brand new while I was still in the service. Yes it isn't anything fancy what so ever but it still works!!! I just don't have the money to upgrade I would like to hand it down to my oldest son who is 12 but like I said I just can't afford another bow!!! Gonna put another season on it so fingers crossed!!!
The diamond bows should never be overlooked. I have been fortunate enough to harvest numerous deer and several elk with the sb-1. Saved up just like you were explaining and moved to a much nicer bow but still love it and now its a trainer and bowfishing setup.
I just traded my carbon icon in a few days ago for a new bowtech SS34. It was the model before the carbon Zion, but side by side was is identical! I shot it for 3 years and always enjoyed it, but I must say the draw cycle and hold of the SS34 is leaps and bounds above the carbon!
I have a Hoyt carbon matrix bow I have a 33" draw so my bow is a 32 1/2 draw length with a 1/2" loop and I also shoot a tru- fire release with full metal jacket arrows. I also shoot 65 lbs. I'm 53 years old now.
People have to remember that people like Fred Bear was killing every kind of game from around the world with a recurve bow. He started making his bows in the 1940’s. I do like modern bows though and the let off.
This is a great video. Both of my shoulders are shot to pieces..lol.. but I can consistently pull up to 60lbs. That ZION looks very interesting. I need to put that one on my list.
I have a bear g2 cruzer and i upgraded everything but the quiver and the groupings are killer along with being quiet. Getting the bear surpass next season.
Got my first bow kill (a monster 7 point buck at 35 yards) with my $350 RTS package Diamond Infinite Edge Pro (made by Bowtech). I went on to upgrade to a Mathews Z2 and I gave my Diamond to my buddy who let me hunt his grounds for free who was shooting a 20 year old bow. I've been trying out Mathews flagships when I take my Z2 for it's yearly check & tune and everything that came out until this year didn't feel like it shot $1000 better than my Z2 (which is the best iteration of the Z7 ever made). Today, I shot their Phase4 and good gosh almighty...it instantly felt like I needed to upgrade. It's not that I wasn't still shooting
@@BowDisciples Thanks. Wasn't easy. I picked up a bow for the first time in my life 6 weeks before I took that buck, but I'd hit the range at least twice a week, every week. And when I couldn't get to the range, I lived in a railroad apartment at that time in New York City and had a 60' clear run through 3 bedrooms and a living room and set up my target at the other end of the place! 😂 Now, I literally live on the grounds (40 acres and we own the funnel between their bedding area & feeding grounds) that I used to drive 1.5 hours to get to in the Catskill Mountains. Hard work, but well worth it. Passion leaves no time or room for excuses.
The difference between a $300 bow and a $700 is huge. The difference between a $700 bow to a $1200 bow is pretty small in my book. Mid tier is where it’s at.
I bought a used $400 dollar Hoyt on eBay, and shot a 5 year old nontypical 13 pointer for my first archery buck after getting busted numerous times by does learning the hunt. Easier with a .308 but much more rewarding with a bow!
i have seen some bows for lower prices in cad and i mean lower than 600-700 dollars cad so 450-500 usd and they are fully equipped so i wouldn't call 600 to be a low budget bow at all
Uhm, where's the PSE Premonition HD? A brand new one is $600 and the package deal is $800. It also shoots faster than all of these and is the size and weight of a Mathews Avail.
It's hard to sell used bows. I have a ton of bows I have that I do not shoot any more. And they are in great shape. I tried archery talk. Bruce is wrong. Used bows are a tuff sell. People don't have extra money. People can't even put gas in there car. So if you buy a bow it's yours for life. Good thing I have a great job.nice review

@@justine8012I mean I just bought a bear species ev for $420, I’m brand new into archery and I like it a lot. Obviously the more expensive bows have that nice feel and I haven’t shot many of them to compare. I always thought bear would have good products
Got a pse nova at a yard sale for 20 bucks. .. needs some work like new string and cables, new stabilizer and maybe new screws.. got a wb rest and camo quiver, with no sight ... That's what I hear when I hear budget. Gonna put 100 into the bow and like 50 on arrows and probably a forearm cover so 200 for "package".

My Diamond SB-1 needs cam spacers. It has horrible cam lean and I’m worried it’s gonna hop the string. Shoots ok, back wall isn’t the best but it’s a super budget bow. Can’t expect a ton out of it.
@BowDisciples I bought the x9 for my son he wanted to get into archery I put my older sights rests and a new peep on it and I was so surprised by the quality and actual speeds it was shooting I bought one for myself....I still have my mathews but for 200 dollars it's light years ahead of the budget bows we sell in America
A much better budget bow I would recommend over any of those reviewed would be a Bear Whitetail Legend Pro at a price of around $549 in an RTH package.

Part of the Diamond Army!! Edge 320 is still being shot daily 3 years in and has taken 1 deer each year. For the money… solid $ spent
