Well, jet engines need fuel to work either way. You can use reactors to power the electric propeller engines, I guess, but I doubt these would have enough power output to allow that monster to maintain speed and altitude
@@nickcher7071 "Well, jet engines need fuel to work either way." While you might need fuel for the attached aircraft, you can make a nuclear jet. Fuel combustion in a jet engine is used to superheat the air passing through the turbine, which both powers the intake compressor and results in thrust. A nuclear jet engine simply uses the heat of a nuclear rather than chemical reaction to superheat the air. If the heat source is via coolant pipes coming from the reactor rather than exposed reactor itself, it doesn't even output radioactive material. What a jet engine _does_ need is air, which is why you need a rocket (which carries its own reaction mass) in a vacuum.
I know it's quite contradictory, since we are talking about giant flying battle-stations, as they are clearly beyond these constraints, but making a nuclear plane engine was tried during the Cold War as a way to keep the B-52s of Chrome Dome flying nearly forever and it was found to be unfeasible in a technological and cost effective sense. Basically, the weight of the engines meant they would carry more crew and a lesser payload for a bigger cost and no real benefit in the long term. If anything, the engine would need constant maintenance and the engineers would need to be on board with nuclear physics training at nearly all times. That would mean more people inside the plane and heavier engines, so less bombs. The engines could also pollute the atmosphere if they started leaking, not to mention the risks for the personal and in the case of a crash. Basically, the more shielding you add to the reactor, the heavier it becomes, making it more expensive and further diminishing the possible payload. Nuclear bombs were already a risk too, verbi gratia, the 1961 Goldsboro B-52 Crash in North Carolina that nearly caused a nuclear blast and could even trigger a reaction by the US against the Soviets due to their own accident. However, having the whole fleet of B-52's flying on active nuclear reactors was an even riskier idea, since a crash could unleash the power of the reactor and the bombs. All of that risk and cost without mentioning that said engines might require more time at base for regular maintenance and repair, while daily necessities like food would force the planes to either land of get resupplied while in the air. Imagine a big airship, even more people than a B-52, they would need food for people anyway or else they would sacrifice payload for food. If you made people eat field ready food or something they might lose productivity and need more frequent leave on land as well.
I love Ace Combat series. Graphics changes, plot does, but some things just never change - like this briefing screen, or huge flying things that always get shot down and fall with huge booom... Love it all.

+Angery Fox Boi Yes it would be tedious yet more realistic. The devs could instead have you switch between aircrafts in the squadron or they should't design this ridiculous Transformer-Starscream mission in the first place. Or consider the advanced technology in this game the devs could have an airborne re-supply platform - something similar to what the Freespace2 devs did in 1999.
C P Okay lets add realism to a franchise that is essentially the Metal Gear of aircraft games! That’s like saying they should add car insurance bills to Forza Horizon.
Questions; why didn't the tankers use their radar instead? Why wasn't there an AWACS aircraft providing radar cover? Why wasn't there other patrol aircraft aside from the Strigons?
This made me have aneurism coming back after 600 years all I remember is watching my older brother play this and I did not understand a thing about it except plane fly and shoot
well you can use A10 and fire rockets upon each of them and if skilled enough you can take the small one with one shot, which takes you somewhere around 4mins or so, and that was the good days :)
In Modern History, maybe. I'm pretty sure WWII had some much larger Naval Air battles. This was only a couple of squadrons going at it. There were several battles with multiple aircraft carriers on both sides involved in the Pacific Campaign, way more than just 12 or 14 aircraft in total involved. This is more inline with a bomber group and cover squad getting ambushed over Germany.

The thing that came to my mind... When they say "a lot of good agents lost their lives get this Intel"... I can think of is "Many Bothans died to bring us this information"
Nah, there's alot of reason these wars happen, the war in ac4 happend because they asked to much of erusea, In ac0 it was because osea sabotaged Belka, causing them to go to war and get their land back and save themselves from economic ruin, the war in ac5 happend because a group of belkans wanted to start a conflict between osea and yuktobania to destabilize osea to avenge belka, the war in ac6 happend because Emmeria were unknowingly giving supplies to the generals, a faction who wanted to go to war with Emmeria for "revenge", the war in ac7 happened because Erusean government officials didn't like oseas space elevator, so they took control of the Erusean royal family and went to war with osea. And lastly the war in ac3 happend because the company's Neucom and General Resource(that was also present in ac7 and ac6) weren't fond of each other.(there was also a war between arurelia and leasath in 2020 in the game ace combat x)
I went and did it. Thanks to your playthrough, this fantastic community, and amazing soundtrack, I went out and dug up a copy of Ace Combat 6 and haven't regretted it since. By the way, this mission is brutal on Hard first time around
I've never played this before. Looks cool but... first thing I was thinking is there's no way... that bigass thing would fall out of the sky like a rock
To be honest, these designs are feasible if you want to create one in real life. Just so you know that making and of course flying this aircrafts are...say....very expensive.
Ace combat: where F-15s are still in common use while flying aircraft carriers a kilometer in wingspan dominate the battlefield. I was going to say I should make that thing in KSP, but then I realized that there probably is not a mod that would give me parts big enough to do so.
3:14 pause and play it at the same time as: "Death Star Assault - A New Hope" (1:16) it syncs almost perfectly., This part of the game reminded me a lot of Star Wars :3
Seriously, it's the easiest way to take down Strigon. Especially since he's already on the easiest difficulty (if I recall you don't get 170 missiles on the higher difficulties, I could be wrong, I haven't played it in over 3 years)
Kaleb Kraft wow, I remember the older games giving you a lot less on the higher difficulties. 6 was still good, but I remember getting like 90 missiles on hard. And on some missions that was barely enough
Beaten Air Combat, AC2, AC5, and AC7, and playing this for the first time I have NEVER experienced anything like this. Strigon squadron are fucking unbelievable.
Look up Air Force Delta Strike too, that one has loads of missions and different paths. Also the hidden planes are all classic special Konami spaceships, like Vic Viper and Axelay!
If you ask me, i would say, he/she did a bad job.. Maneuvering at high speed (air-brakes/spoilers not deployed), He should slowdown when approaching target (to destroy more target at one fly-pass), not using wingman (The wingmen were covering his 6, when there are no boogies at 6, it should be deployed to attack ), gun used at maneuvering (in real life he would have cause many friendly fires). Anyway, thanks for uploading, haven`t played this game long ago, but nevertheless it brings back much memories..
If you're wondering what the naming conventions are for Aigaion, Kottos, and Gyges, they are named after the Hekatoncheires in Greek mythology. These are hundred handed giants.
I'm with you on that one and that Flying Fortress Is originally a weapon used by Belka against Emmeria's ally Osea. To end the belkan threat both Emmeria &Osean Air Force and Naval Air arms have to destroy Belka for a 3rd time
theagrafiotis yup. all is awesome. Still Ace Combat Belkan war is my Favourite. Played Ace Combat 6 on Xbox 360... but my Xbox has RIP. now waiting for PS4 Ace Combat 7.
Imo, get an old PS2 and get Ace combat 5: Carrier Squadron/The Unsung War and Ace Combat: The Belkan War, they're the best two in the series by a country mile...their story lines are fantastic as are the sound tracks and they're linked to one another

The southern cross,he's back at it again! Long time since I played this game! The memory's!
oh the nostalgia...
The thing that came to my mind... When they say "a lot of good agents lost their lives get this Intel"... I can think of is "Many Bothans died to bring us this information"
YESSSS!!!! GARUDA 1 is coming out of retirement!!!...Garuda out.
Yes, a single f-15 can destroy an entire floating fortress. Just one.
Everybody gets one
You would have run so many time out of ammo IRL xD
If the Ace Combat games had realistic ammo loadouts the protagonists' countries would always lose.
Or they could just got güd!
Imagine playing for fun
I remember ace combat on the PS2, I loved that game sooo much, can't believe how far it's come
Why cant we all be friends... Pretty sure if other nations would help after this comet storm there would be no war T.T // Damn nice mission

Virgin Arsenal Bird vs Chad Heavy Command Cruiser
I've never played this before. Looks cool but... first thing I was thinking is there's no way... that bigass thing would fall out of the sky like a rock
Tryck Spot year late, you're right, if the wings were connected when it was over but the explosions tore the wings apart thus making it fall.
This would actually fly easier than the An-225 from being hollow.
Now _taking off_ from it, that seems a tad quirky
Combine this scenario with Ace Combat Infinity's difficult levels of Moby Dick and we have ourselves one hell of a Special Raid Mission
Peter Smythe f-15s are still in common use look at America japan and Saudi Arabia
Peter Smythe there is a mod for ksp
who here is watching this 20th February 2017

3:14 pause and play it at the same time as: "Death Star Assault - A New Hope" (1:16) it syncs almost perfectly., This part of the game reminded me a lot of Star Wars :3
i was thinking the enemy was the RAZGRIZ :D
Probably only game I 100%, just that addictive and good
This is the North Sea....was Shamrock making a Razgriz reference?
Aigaion radar operator: Unknown blips on radar. Who could this be?
Aigaion captain: What's going on?
Aigaion radar operator: WE'RE UNDER ATTACK!!!!!!
so this is how metal gear arsenal crash new york
respect for not using RCLs and completely cheesing it.
Wait what how many missiles are loaded on the player's plane??
Y E S
man i loved watching my own replays of cool flybys and stunts hahaha the f20 raptor was my fav
Do you ever use A.Attack or A.Cover at all?
Dojima We don't need allies where we're going
Seriously, it's the easiest way to take down Strigon. Especially since he's already on the easiest difficulty (if I recall you don't get 170 missiles on the higher difficulties, I could be wrong, I haven't played it in over 3 years)
jmtardogno He’s on Ace difficulty. Said so in the briefing room.
Kaleb Kraft wow, I remember the older games giving you a lot less on the higher difficulties. 6 was still good, but I remember getting like 90 missiles on hard. And on some missions that was barely enough
jmtardogno Yeah I remember getting it like that on ace combat 5. I'd always run out of bombs on this one mission.
Beaten Air Combat, AC2, AC5, and AC7, and playing this for the first time I have NEVER experienced anything like this. Strigon squadron are fucking unbelievable.
3:10 so _that_ is where all the clickbait tumbnails comes from.
I never heard of this game until last year. I played tons of hours in PS2. We never had an internet when this game came out.
Look up Air Force Delta Strike too, that one has loads of missions and different paths.
Also the hidden planes are all classic special Konami spaceships, like Vic Viper and Axelay!
Bro if was in that jet u wouldn't survive after all those g's u pulled
Anyone else was thinking
Get to the life pods!
Get to the life pods!!
Everytime the Agaion goes down?
I remember loading up my A10 with fuel air bombs to fight this behemoth, good times.
Basically taking down a star destroyer in battlefront 2 via air/star fighter.
Anyway, thanks for uploading, haven`t played this game long ago, but nevertheless it brings back much memories..
lol
You act like this game is even challenging at all.
lol
Youre talking about realism when the F15 has 170 rockets. Not even an MI 8 has that many rockets in its surplus.
everybody gangsta till the missile alerts wont stop beeping
If you're wondering what the naming conventions are for Aigaion, Kottos, and Gyges, they are named after the Hekatoncheires in Greek mythology. These are hundred handed giants.
live long gracemaria!!
I'm with you on that one and that Flying Fortress Is originally a weapon used by Belka against Emmeria's ally Osea. To end the belkan threat both Emmeria &Osean Air Force and Naval Air arms have to destroy Belka for a 3rd time
@@EpicThe112 Then how tf did the Stovies took it?
@@mineko2219 Gault 7 Lorenz Ridel
AC7's graphics are cool and modern and all, but I can't help but think that AC6's effects look more real
Bingo
Which to me Lasts Longer and Still looks Impressive Today unless there something wrong with your Eyes

Ace combat 6 have the best gameplay even beats ace combat 7, 16:30 you dont get that often
Are all ace combat games as good as the one i played on my psp?
theagrafiotis yup. all is awesome. Still Ace Combat Belkan war is my Favourite. Played Ace Combat 6 on Xbox 360... but my Xbox has RIP. now waiting for PS4 Ace Combat 7.
Thank you for the info, i so loved that game on my psp and the music was so amazing!
theagrafiotis exactly. The music is wow😍😍😍😍😍
With the exception of Assault Horizon, I'd say yes.
Imo, get an old PS2 and get Ace combat 5: Carrier Squadron/The Unsung War and Ace Combat: The Belkan War, they're the best two in the series by a country mile...their story lines are fantastic as are the sound tracks and they're linked to one another
graphics were way ahead of its time
Soo good game and than that stupid cruisers, disgusting
Used to love blasting through this mission with the RCL's
