Yeah. I love the ace combat and the apache series but apache air assault for pc, 360, and ps3 was very realistic and hardcore for the casual flight sim masses since the apaches never fire near harms way
My nephew & 2 sons turned me onto this game 5 yrs ago playing it on x360 then ps3, I still play every Friday on ps3, my wife tells me to grow up but I refuse..I'm 60 yrs young & love this game taking the place of Graw2.
When you have high tech cameras that let you see and engage targets from miles away and propellers that let you fly high up in the air but you still feel the need to fly within 2 feet of the goat farmers with nothing but RPGs and mortars.
Medal of honor 2010 was a pretty good comeback for the game. Story was decent, gameplay wise was pretty good. But at the same time BF3 or COD was also launched that year if i remember correctly making this game a misnomer.
Having spent quite a few hours playing Jane's Longbow 2 this is quite the arcade experience. I hope that there are no real apache crews that would waste hellfires on a mortar crew.
I will only offer that when on the RECEIVING end of thos e mortars - when we called in CAS (be it fixed wing or rotary), we were simply happy these guys were in the air.
It was surprising when I heard the Callsign 'gunfighter'. Which battalion I served(not a pilot). Battalion logo is modified but unit number and callsign are same. Our gunfighter 06 was crazy.
just need some "Ride of the Valkyries" lol. Also pretty sure SOP for gunship pilots isn't to fly literally three feet off the ground in mountainous terrain, lol.
Apache's fly high level orbits (1000ft AGL+) over an enemy territory and usually get called in by ground support, this mission could have been great if it captured the true methods of an Apache pilot/gunner. flying down a river bed in small arm fire range is just madness!
Exactly what I thought - fly up high out of small arms, HMG and RPG range and use the amazing gun sight and gun to pick of targets - yes sounds boring but we all remember that AC130 gunship mission in COD: Modern Warfare
Best helicopter mission in games (if we dont talk about simulators like DCS Black Shark or Janes Longbow) - ARMA 2 "Eagle Wing" with nuclear strike in the end.
this channel seems to mostly focus on console gamers. console gamers have no clue what arma is. or dayz. those are real games. albeit semi broken due to dev work.
@@InterdictionAirsoft I know that. Tell that to the author of this video. Who labeled it as such. I was describing the capabilities of the Longbow, not what the video actually showed.
plus an Apache can carry upto 8 Hellfires with 2 pods of 70mm rockets. But here, after firing so many hellfires , still 8 of these missiles are visible on these 2 choppers after the kills. i understand its a videogame, but EA should've 'redesigned' that in the end.
most likely AH64Ds although US Apaches had to remove the longbow radar in the desert to save weight so they could carry more stores. the engines weren't powerful enough to lift it due to the heat :p
Really? It's not like people didn't know how to make good games and gripping gameplay --- or tell exciting visual stories --- even in "ancient" 2010. They knew how to do that in the '80s and 90's. What you probably meant is the graphics quality. Which was distinctly worse in the '80s and '90s, due to equipment limitations. Which often enough was absolutely not a problem. And then there are many programs that have extreme quality settings that mainstream computers can only run a generation or two later.
The Apache Helicopters are the best way to get the enemy, without being found-out due to the fact you can hide behind mountains and use the top mounted camera to seek 'n' destroy!
The AH-64 Longbow Apache is about as durable as the A-10 Warthog. there have been accounts of Apache pilots literally losing an entire engine to a SAM strike and holes from AA flak eating off most of the tail and it made it home. all of the vital components such as the cockpit and the engines are armored against small arms and Anti-air fire. couple that with an automatic fire suppression system and Kevlar insulation and you have yourself one tough SOB of an attack chopper.
Ahhh, brings back memories of "Janes Longbow" simulator from the mid 90's. Spent many hours on that game with window's 95 OS. Yep, I am an old fart.......lol
I noticed a lot people commenting and saying that the Apache can't take a hit from an RPG and survive in real life. Well I hate to break it to you civilians, but yes it can. The Apache is extremely armored and has triple redundancy with all of it's systems. I spent 10 years in the US army, with two tours in Iraq and one in Afghanistan. I got spend a lot of time around Apaches and their pilots. They are incredibly strong and tough to knock out of the sky. That's one reason why they are the best attack chopper in the world. The canopy can take a direct hit from an RPG and the rotor blades can shrug off hits from 20mm cannons. It also has a ton of countermeasures that it can use against air to air missiles. So when people say it's a flying tank, its actually more like a flying super computer that's inside a tank!
I appreciate the compliment. The seamless transition from the ground, to the Apache, to the sniper mission was not even remotely easy to create and one of the first things we did on the game. To all of those complaining realism, I'm fully aware of proper engagement distances, but between making a "plausible" exciting game, that is also cinematic, executives pulling things in all sorts of directions and wrestling this entire thing to work seamlessly on the Unreal engine, I'm still pleased with how it turned out. Again, thanks for the compliment. I'm always happy when people are moved by my games.
As a real world operator former operator. This game is up there it's not 100% accurate, it's a game it's not supposed to be. Hellfire has a range of 8 kilometers. No need for them to get so close!

It's a game douche bag
Apache air assault is way more realistic since you dont need to be so close to the enemy to do an assault.

that apache is made out of Nokium and has plot armor attached on the main frame, thus it helps when getting hit by 3 rpg in 1 mission.

The advantage of a Longbow is its long distance kill capability ( and peekaboo) No need to be even in visible range.
