I have to comment here. At the 4:36 mark you mention taking out spark plugs to determine which cylinder is misfiring. This tells me that you've never once changed spark plugs in one of these before. You have to remove the intake manifold to change spark plugs in these and you cant do that and run the engine. Plus, a proper scan tool will tell you which cylinder is misfiring.
I have not replaced spark plugs in the VQ, however, from what I have seen, you have to remove the breather tube. There are videos out on replacing the spark plugs without removing the intake manifold.
2005 G35 - Drove it home yesterday and it was fine. This morning there is a huge puddle of oil in my driveway. And I can't get the car alarm from going off.
This is true... ...it's not like olden day headlights, you have to have that inner wheel well splash guard in, otherwise the ballast will get ruined and replacement is expensive.

They all have their unique issues that pertain to each car. I do trow in the average common issues as well, because the people who watch these videos are somewhat ignorant. (Not in a bad way, just aren’t knowledgeable) I’m currently working in the GMC Terrain and most of the issues that pop up are due to user neglect because the inaccurate oil monitoring system the 90% of people listen to, which causes unique issues. the window regulators go out but not as frequently as the window regulator motors do if u have a grind this is cause by worn synchro, the double cone synchro's tend to fail on higher mileage gearboxes-a fluid change is a band aid fix lol other than that good video
If you keep the trans properly lubricated and without debris, it would help the longevity of the trans, even if it’s already having issues. Sure, it wouldn’t cure the problem if it’s already so bad.

@@黒キツネ-九零二一零 that is the WORSE advice to give anyone. Please guys DO NOT ever let your oil light come on. Usually by that Point the damage is already done. Best advice is to sand down your min-max oil coverage area to get that fuzzy and Hazy look to it. You will be able to see where your oil levels are better. Also when pulling out dipstick, right as you’re pulling the dipstick nearly all the way out grab bottom end with other hand and slowly pull out preventing the oil level area from smudging all over over the dipstick.
@@euroatlantaz1651 what damage? ive been doing that since i got the car. still drives like normal, gears are normal, and ive been driving it in and out of the city, nothing happened, broke or anything. all it has right now is a small oil leak. i have a 06 g35 sedan
If you run low in oil, so low the oil light comes on and give the car high revs, the engine has a very high potential of blowing. Imagine running on only 10-20% of oil, taking a tight turn in higher rpms, all the oil in the oil pan rushes to one side of the oil pan and the pick up tube can’t pick up any more oil. You now have rod knock. Most people who drive these cars are spirited drivers. I would definitely recommend checking the oil level once a week, depending how severe the problem is.
@@AutoMotivate it doesn't come on. It just blinks and when it blinks, I pull over and put some oil in it until it stops rattling. The one time I didn't put oil in it was because I didn't know that cap on top of the engine was the oil reservoir. I tried to screw it off but the thing was cemented on and autozone is so fucking useless, just give me a set of pliers to forcefully screw the thing off. The engine rattled and the check engine light came on. That's all that happened

Rest In Peace. Wether you are religious or not, I firmly believe he is in a happy place driving his G35 around.
Swapped out the stale stock air filters with K&N pre-oiled ones. Made a nice difference and I always run 93, as 91 is nowhere to be found... 2012 Journey sedan, 80k miles.
ive been pretty fortunate with my car only having to replace the radiator and keep a close eye on the oil
Same here man, I have an 05 DE at around 160k miles. I’ve only changed the radiator and belts and many oil changes and top offs... mostly up to 3000k miles. I for sure need to replace my bushings and tires and other things I might not be aware of but it feels good. It pulls and sounds great it’s not perfect but damn do I love her.
Had an '04 track edition. Loved it...
Is 04 the same engine as 05? how many miles you have driven so far? any major repair?
07 g35x, never burns oil, 150k miles, great car.
The minute your car is hard starting... have it checked..the last thing you need is a stall out on a highway ..🤪
why?
Got a 03.5 sedan and honestly she runs like a beauty, I have had the car for a little and had to replace the headlights Bc of oxidation, fuel pump (common), and the driver window regulator, oils not bad at all but now imma check those bushings
Awesome video, thanks for sharing the info. 👍🏿
My 03 g35 was unstoppable
5:03 like the vic wink you added there lol
Way more quality in the G35. Hands down. These cars are going up in value like the 300 ZX twin Turbo and the Toyota Supra. They will never see the value of those cars but they're definitely going up.

Nice low miles, too.

There’s a fairly easy fix for most of that issue. Just did mine a few days ago and it works like new.

Sold a couple weeks again for 4,200 and got a coupe 😭😭😭
This is for the DE engines. My 07 sedan HR doesn't have any of these issues, oil holds up just fine
G35 coupe 2003 with 114K miles, garage kept, always serviced at the dealership. I only had to change a sensor. My only problem is that I can not find another one like it in the market so I got stuck with it until the end.
so, sounds like all the issues are with the models before 08'?
The previous owners of my g35 took off the splash guard and now my headlights are fried replaced the both ballast tho :/
This is true... ...it's not like olden day headlights, you have to have that inner wheel well splash guard in, otherwise the ballast will get ruined and replacement is expensive.
Question with a catch can does that help the engine run cleaner ,if the oil isnt returning to the engine ?
yes
Man I feel all of these "watch before you buy______ " are all the same.
Look for oil leaks and watch out for normal wear on aesthetic pieces. Wow thanks mate I would never think to look at the car before buying it!
They all have their unique issues that pertain to each car.
I do trow in the average common issues as well, because the people who watch these videos are somewhat ignorant.
(Not in a bad way, just aren’t knowledgeable)
I’m currently working in the GMC Terrain and most of the issues that pop up are due to user neglect because the inaccurate oil monitoring system the 90% of people listen to, which causes unique issues.
These videos help a lot more folks then you think.
Hope you are doing well Kevin!
@@AutoMotivate I am planning on buying one of these babies, my question is are these issues avoidable with good maintenance
Overall, yes! These are fantastic cars but with higher miles expect to replace the front lower control arm bushing, valve cover gasket, and coils going bad is a typical thing as well.
Overall, it’s a pretty easy car to maintain.
Be sure to get the proper years if you want to avoid to burning oil issue
@@AutoMotivate Which year would you recommend, will not hold anything against you
Looking at G35 2005 Coupe. I've not seen the car in person, but its being sold at a dealership in a different province that seems to have a solid reputation. It's got 140k miles but has been safetyed and has passed a 150 point inspection. Is it too risky?? Need advice. Its going for 5000 plus tax.
Is it one owner with documented history of what has been fixed on the car?
$5,000 for one in fantastic condition sounds somewhat fair.
This helped diagnose the problems on my new g35😂
That’s exactly why I created these videos 🙏
Not all 05 to 07 were Rev Up. That was only on the Sport models with a manual transmission.
I noticed that you didn't mention the 08 infinity g35x is it also considered a rev up?
silver 04 g35 with 75k miles and have had no problems. the only things i don’t like about the car is that the doors are very heavy and weigh the car down and if you’re over 5’9 you will be very uncomfortable sitting in the back

why does it say 2004-2005 year preferred instead of 2004?
the window regulators go out but not as frequently as the window regulator motors do
if u have a grind this is cause by worn synchro, the double cone synchro's tend to fail on higher mileage gearboxes-a fluid change is a band aid fix lol
other than that good video
If you keep the trans properly lubricated and without debris, it would help the longevity of the trans, even if it’s already having issues. Sure, it wouldn’t cure the problem if it’s already so bad.
@@AutoMotivate no, the problem is more the design of the non cd009 transmissions. Nissans design choice orginally used double cone synchros in 1,3, and 4.And used a triple cone synchro for 2nd.On the CD009 nissan used triple cone synchros on 1,2 and 3 and used a double cone on 4th.A triple cone synchro makes shifting very very smooth, a double cone also does, but not to the extend that a triple cone does (triple cones have more rings)

I know and it's annoying when trying to put it back. I just wait until the oil light comes on, put 2 quarts of oil in it and go on about my day
@@黒キツネ-九零二一零 that is the WORSE advice to give anyone. Please guys DO NOT ever let your oil light come on. Usually by that
Point the damage is already done.
That's all that happened
if you had 06-07 6MT Rev-Up then you also had a CD009 Tranny which did not have the gear grinding/ missing 3rd gear problem.
came in some 05 models as well, I have an 05 and I have the CD009
