ノーチラスR380プロジェクト エピソード 3/4 ／Nautilus R380 Project Episode 3/4

ノーチラススポーツカーズ 古川健一郎が2023年「ノーチラスR380GT」のローリングシャーシの販売することになりました。
ノーチラススポーツカーズの起業から現在に至るまでのエピソードをインタビューしました。
スカイラインの父と称される桜井眞一郎氏が、1960年代に開催された日本グランプリで、打倒ポルシェを目指して開発されプロトタイプスポーツカー「プリンスR380」。
1994年12月に創立された桜井眞一郎氏が代表の株式会社エス・アンド・エスエンジニアリングにおいて、プリンスR380の復刻車の製作が行われました。
1966年の日本グランプリにおいてポルシェカレラ6を破り、総合優勝したゼッケン11のR380から直接型取りしてFRPの雌型が製作され、それを基にFRPボディがつくられました。また、当時の図面を基にして鋼管パイプフレームや足回りが製作され、エンジンは保管されていた当時と同じGR8が、搭載されて復刻が行われました。
しかしながら、復刻車においては、1966年当時のアルミボディの製作は見送られ、FRP製(強化プラスチック)となりました。また、鋼管スペースフレームの接合は、当時は「ろう付け接合」にて行われていましたが、復刻車では、「アーク溶接」で行われました。
桜井眞一郎氏は、当時の再現である「アルミボディ」と「鋼管フレームのろう付け接合」ができなかったことが心残りだったそうです。
ノーチラススポーツカーの代表者である古川健一郎は、2001年唯一残存するゼッケン11のR380から型取りされたボディ型（モールド）他をエス・アンド・エスエンジニアリングの櫻井眞一郎氏、島田勝利氏から「製作許諾書面」と併せて譲り受け、R380のリクリエイトを引き継ぎました。
こうして、唯一無二且つ今後製作されることはないであろうR380のモールドを使用して、ノーチラススポーツカーズｊはR380のリクリエイトを再開しました。

We interviewed him about the history of Nautilus Sports Cars from the beginning to the present.
The "Prince R380" prototype sports car was developed by Shinichiro Sakurai, known as the father of the Skyline, with the goal of beating Porsche in the Japanese Grand Prix in the 1960s.
S&S Engineering Co., Ltd. was established in 1994.12, and Shinichiro Sakurai is the representative of the company.
An FRP female mold was made directly from the number 11 R380 that won the 1966 Japanese Grand Prix, defeating the Porsche Carrera 6, and an FRP body was made based on this mold. The tubular steel frame and suspension were made from the original drawings, and the GR8 engine, which was the same as the one in storage at the time, was installed for the reissue.
However, the 1966 aluminum body was not used for the reissued car, and it was made of FRP (reinforced plastic). In addition, the steel tube space frame was joined by "brazing" at that time, but "arc welding" was used in the reissue.
Mr. Shinichiro Sakurai said that he regretted not being able to reproduce the "aluminum body" and "brazing of the steel pipe frame" as it was done at that time.
Kenichiro Furukawa, the representative of Nautilus Sports Car, took over the creation of the R380, receiving the body mold and other materials from Shinichiro Sakurai and Katsutoshi Shimada of S&S Engineering, along with a "manufacturing license agreement" from the only remaining R380 (number 11) from 2001. We took over the rebuilding of the R380.
Thus, Nautilus Sports Cars has resumed the creation of the R380 using the one and only R380 mold that will never be produced in the future.
