Caley, I’m 68 and have been doing yoga for 6 months to strengthen my core and improve my flexibility. I stumbled upon your video and I must say I was doing the poses wrong. Your instruction is excellent and easy to follow. Especially about stacking from the ground up. I have felt a tremendous improvement in a short time just from watching your video. I only do standing poses for now but I’m working my way to the floor. Thank you for job well done. I have watched many yoga videos and yours is by far the best👍 Michael in Burbank CA
I am just starting yoga and in my 60s too... I hope it has worked out for you,... My mobility got horrible when I turned 60 and I am hopeful this will turn it around...
@@LJ-jq8og I made that comment 3 years ago. I’m 71 now and I do Yoga every morning. It is marvelous. Caley is a great instructor. When I wake up I am extremely stiff and I wouldn’t be able to start my day without the Yoga stretches. Just do a little everyday, frequency is the key. Good luck.
@@mikeagresta Thanks Mike... I am starting at a hot yoga place... it's only 95 degrees (compared to bikrum 105) but trying to keep pace for 60 minutes is an absolute ass-kicker.... People were surprised I was able to stay in the room for the whole 60 minutes but I am determined to "get there" .... I already feel better after a couple of visits.... Amazing how we take our youth and health for granted !
This is literally the best instructional video I've come across. I've been doing yoga for more than 2 years now and I realized how wrong I was doing all of these basic poses. No wonder I felt so much pain and tension afterwards. But I'll make sure I do it properly next time. Thanks a lot!❤
Others have also said this, but I very much enjoyed how thoroughly Caley covered each pose. She not only showed the right way to do it, but she also went over the common wrong ways to do it and how those wrong ways would look or feel. I found mistakes in how I have been doing several of these poses, and I feel like I have gained understanding of each form itself rather than just trying to mimic someone else. Thank you, Caley!
This girl rocks! If every teacher would have to know these things before starting to teach, it would make a world of difference; i'm really grateful for these explanations. Namaskar
Understanding the fundamentals for any subject is essential, so I watched this video to compliment what I am learning in class. And I have taken so much away from your instructions! I really want to get the most out of each pose, and your delivery is articulate, thorough and crystal clear. I am grateful I found this video and I am saving it.
Best instructional video for yoga poses! I just started yoga, got my 2nd class today. My wife has been doing it for years. I showed her this video and she dislikes instructional videos on anything, she agreed this is one of the best instructions on staying stacked and in alignment. It's also to the point, no nonsense and easy to watch. Besides showing the proper way, she also addresses some of the common mistakes. After watching this a few times, I feel more confident to show up to class now.
I enjoyed Calley Alyssa's clear description and technique in her 18 basic poses video. I've been a fitness instructor for over 30 years and a yoga instructor for over 15 years.I appreciate your clear and concise direction! Thanks
Just wonderful, I have been researching "yoga meditation online" for a while now, and I think this has helped. Have you ever come across - Fonylan Inconceivable Future - (should be on google have a look )? It is a good one of a kind guide for discovering how to get your sexiest body minus the normal expense. Ive heard some awesome things about it and my co-worker got excellent success with it.
You just reaffirmed to me that yoga 🧘♀️ is something you can’t just pretend to do. It takes skill. I am glad you explained the stacking to me. That alone is something to get used to
Caley is great in so many ways. For each pose, she 1. Keeps us honest on our form. 2. Understands the science of how it works to improve our spinal alignment and the resulting associated benefits (e.g. core strength, flexibility, posture, balance), 3. Translates complex medical concepts into lay terms. 4. Isn’t too hard to look at 😉
I LOVE THIS! Sometimes I’ll make a connection between bottom ribs and hip bones. Just a small energy to keep my ribs from popping out. Or to lift equally from back and front of heart.
There is so much info out there on Yoga practice. I'm trying to find a good place to start for a beginner. I appreciate your instruction. I just need a simple path to begin practicing at home, I'm short on time, trying to reduce stress and become more flexible.

Beautifully instructed Caley, I am about to start a yoga teacher training course and will definitely aim to teach as thoroughly as you do once I start my own classes. I’ve been to many yoga classes in my time and never once was instructed as you just clearly explained…the key is positioning…thank you so much 😌🙏
Awesome explanations on how to stack your body and engage the required muscles. I shared with a couple friends. I recently started yoga classes and was concerned that I was not positioning my body correctly. Thank you so much for your tutorial.
What a great teacher! She is truly gifted in the way that she details the fine points, so you can do poses properly. Every word is of essence, no nonsense here. What great looking asana! There is another video by Caley Alyssa that is a beginners class-it it right on point!
The cues suggested here are great. I thought I knew how to do some of these basic poses, but after doing them along with the video, they felt very different. It is better to focus on doing fewer poses well than doing many poses poorly. Recommended!
This was so well explained!!! I’m struggling with arm strength and your advice helped me so much for how to keep alignment before trying to do the pose all the way. Thank you!!! You have a talent for teaching😊
Absolutely awesome instructor, stacking & alignment helped tremendously. I will most definitely smash like & subscribe. Also, very well spoken, informative & beautiful.

As a beginner in yoga (started attending classes about 2-weeks ago), and viewed your 18 Basic Yoga Poses ... Excellent explanation on some of the nuances of each pose and the position of the various parts of the body as a whole! I enjoyed your emphasis on the foundation and the various alignment and angles of the body parts relative to each other. Again... and excellent video and explanation on the various yoga poses for beginners like myself. I haven't had a chance to research, but do you have any videos on the breathing aspect (i.e. timing on breathing relative to each pose/movement or the basics on where the breath is being targeted)? Example: breathe in thru your nose with tongue to the roof of the mouth with a slow breath inhaling flow to the lower portion of lungs (focusing on the 2nd-chakra /sacral chakra) and expanding the lower lungs and not the upper portion. Pause for 5-seconds, slowly exhaling your breath targeting/clearing/stimulating each subsequent chakra while the breath is exhaled through your mouth and the lower lung being deflated? I'm still eager to learn, so forgive me for these potentially "nonsense" type questions/examples. Again, an excellent video.
Caley, really enjoyed the video.I learnt a lot from your instruction on this video. Thanks for explaining the moves in depth. One of the best videos I seen on you tube for explaining positional posture 👏👍
What difference does it make if she is pretty or not? She's here to show you yoga moves... Man is that all anyone thinks about? How pretty some girl is? Fuck
@@shalacyofficial you are making things complicated, dear. I don't know what is your perspective about male but I can surely assure you one thing that people who are saying that she is pretty is not doing any sort of crime; it's natural to say a woman pretty if she is so. Yeah, I know every man on earth are not same but doesn't mean that we all are here only to devour her beauty like a beast....we all are also appreciating her skills and the way she demonstrates. THE ONLY FEEDBACK AT THE MOMENT WOULD BE WHEN THE CAMERAS ON CLOSE UP, IT WOULD BE EVEN BETTER IF YOU LOOKED MORE AT THE CAMERA AS IF TALKING DIRECTLY TO THE AUDIENCE..OOPS SORRY FOR CAPS!
So I just tried starting yoga as I've become very inflexible over the past few years, I felt lost, that I wasn't doing anything right, in pain (largely due to stiffness) and an instructor that yelling at me to do things that I didn't understand, like drive down the hill (I live in Houston, there are no hills) and he kept telling me to breathe properly, (I was breathing properly, I just couldn't make those weird pig noises). Anyway, it had me feeling very discouraged, like I just didn't understand anything and I felt the instructor was frustrated. Very clear explanations! Great class! Just: you didnt explain us why you said shavasan is the "most advanced pose" (following Iyengar s words): and that s the crucial point: real shavasan is meditation. and meditation should be our goal in yoga practice. Too often forgotten.
