  • I picked up the Tops C.A.T (Covert Anti-Terrorism) knife a while back and have noted it to be a great tool. The durability and quality found in this fixed blade knife is why I find myself carrying it all throughout the day. Err.

My Tops C.A.T. Tanto with the Cyber grips is my EDC. Mine slides on my belt as well but strangely enough it doesn't bother me as much as I thought it was going to.

The cost to value ratio on this is unbeatable. Carried one for years and own 2 more. Always looking at small fixed blades but I keep going back to this model. It's outstanding.

I too carry the C.A.T. daily on my belt. I don't have a problem with the clip sliding. I just put it on behind the belt loop so when I draw the knife the loop stops it for a smooth draw. I have the tanto style blade. It carries very comfortably with almost no imprint with a t-shirt on due to the flat handle design. It has been my go-to for EDC, of all 9 TOPS knives I have.

I purchased the tanto version and have to admit, it took me awhile to get used to it. I put a new, low angle profile on the edge and my brain finally wrapped itself around the design. Love this knife!

Cold Steel has been doing cryo on their steel for years. It really allows you to get a good edge on a knife, very sharp.

Nice knife, I've recently started putting together an EDC for my backpack that I carry around when trucking around my city during work. Currently, I have a Condor Woodlore fixed blade knife, a Kershaw Ken Onion Black Blur folder, and a Smith and Wesson SWPENBL Tactical Pen. I'm still waiting on a CRKT 2385 Folts Minimalist Razor Edge Knife as my small backup neck knife. Freaking Amazon is taking forever to send out the freaking CRKT. I gotta also look into getting the Woodlore a nice kydex sheath, it only comes with a bulky leather sheath. If I had known about the CAT I may have foregone the Woodlore and picked the CAT instead.

I just picked one up. You cannot go wrong with Tops. Just read the specs on the knife and look at the pictures.

Good shit bro. Informative, down to earth presentation. Think I'm gonna go for the Tops Strikar soon. It's a beast! Thanks for the vid.

I like tops the differential heat treat is cool but I was sort of shocked how soft the steel is at the top of the blade. I dropped mine on a wooden coffee table edge and it dented the blade steel. Never had that happen before... lol. I am sure the edge is hard though.

I dont know if you mispoke or I misunderstood but typically stainless steel especially higher quality super steels tend to hold it's edge longer and is harder to sharpen due to the fact that it is a harder steel than a high carbon steel which is a softer but more durable steel which makes it easier to sharpen but won't hold it's edge as long. It seems as if you made 1095 out to be a super steel. It as a great working all around steel like 01, a2, d2 for example but doesn't compare to the edge holding abilities of 154cm or s30v or even vg10 as some examples...

Man I had to do a double take, that knife/sheath looked exactly like my new TOPS Backpacker's Bowie. Same handle configuration and sheath build. Mine is almost concealable, especially when using the twisting belt clip attachment. I have to agree with your positive affinity for this series of knives.

EDC replacement for a S30V folder. Fixed blades don't fold from lock failure. Not looking back.

Like the video but you got case hardening wrong. Using oil is the norm for hardening steels. Sometimes you can use water but it is unpredictable and extremely easy to crack the blade. I really cant remember the case hardening receipt but it just harden's the microscopic outer layer.

You just made up a bunch of shit about steel. 1095 isn't very hard it's just a great all around good affordable steel. You made out to be a super steel... it's not
