King George......I love him. I do TnR in my city, Louisville, KY. That fenced in area with the community cats....is that an area made for them, or is that just a lot of a business where they hang out?

yeah, once a cat is inside and feels comfortable and safe enough to groom itself (and maybe get some brushing action for the humans ofc!) their coat really transforms! I always know when my kitties have had a nice self-grooming session because their coat feels so smooth and soft like they used a conditioner or something haha

So sad for you. My sweet Joe went out one spring day and never came back. I still look for him and miss him so much.
I lost a cat for 11 months. One day he just never came home. Almost a year later he strolled round the corner at feeding time. No idea where he'd been but he came back ripped. Not an ounce off fat on him. All muscle.
I hope yours returns after his adventures in the world.
It's always heartbreaking if a pet is lost. We had two black stray cats come around our house over the years, but were too wild to approach. We fed them and just kept our distance. Eventually they disappeared leaving us wondering whatever happened to them. It's sad.

We have a black cat. She was taken from her litter too early too. She does the nursing on the blanket bit too. Every time she wants to lay down. I rescued her from the neighbors who didn’t give a rip about her welfare. She’s pampered with us. George is a gorgeous boy and so lucky to have a great home. Sweet ❤️

@@daisycocoa2557 I was feeding her all of the time any ways. I’d bring her back to the neighbors. They’d say, she’s doing fine alone. Right 🙄 Some people are clueless about the needs and responsibilities of owning a pet.
I have a black cat too! Her name is Harley, we found her in a field as a very small kitten. She’s five years old now and one of the sweetest cats we have! 😊
@@vinny3120 Ny black cats name is Fluff. She’s about 7 1/2 now. She’s also very sweet. I keep her in the house. She does get out some times. Also, it’s great that you also saved her 👍👍🐈⬛

He is just like my Titan; he showed up one day, outside my terrace, where I feed my outdoors cats. They would not let him eat, and I managed to steer him towards the other side of my house. He ate on my windowsill for a week, and finally he came in. After a vet visit, microchipping, vaccinations, and sterilization, he became a member of the family..together with my two dogs, and the other two cats..big black cats are very overlooked, yet they are as sweet as any other colour...
I absolutely love my miniature house panthers.
I have a little punk black kitty too, found with his brothers in a carrier in a dumpster 3 weeks. Black cats are so beautiful.

@rose Guber ... when I was a child in England, black cats were considered ‘good luck’. I was sad to learn it’s the opposite when I moved to Canada. I assume, and hope, the ‘good luck’ opinion still holds over there. I’ve had some amazing black cats in my time. Thank you for loving another one.

He's a badass cat with extreme survival instinct.He did his best to make it through the tough street life.He is a winner at the end.All the battle scars couldn't take away the mushy little sweet boy's desire to be loved.He deserves to be spoiled for putting up a fight to survive for so long.
King George's looks are a little reminiscent of a mob soldier who's been through some sh*t.
He gives me a Yakuza vibe.
With his eye, he reminds me of that Notorious B.I.G.

My last male parking lot find was a tabby with tore up ears, which I knew meant he probably had FIV.
Off to the vet, full check up, and sure enough, FIV positive, but otherwise in good shape. He was approximately 2 years old. I paid to board him at the vet hoping they could find him a home, but nope, so I built a room for him, as he would have to be quarantined from my other cats.
He was a big baby. Loved to be held like a baby and purr, I mean purr like a chainsaw.
I had him 10 plus years with only one bout of gingivitis, which was controlled with an antibiotic. Such a sweet boy that should have made an old lady a great lap cat.
I'm so sad to hear you kept your FIV+ cat isolated -- there are so many lies about FIV+ cats, and many informed rescues let them mix with non-FIV+ cats because they know the truth that it's safe to do so. Our 2 FIV+ guys have always mixed in our multi-cat home and our oldest FIV+ boy -- a former 6-yr old feral -- is now 12.

I had 5 other cats at the time. Two of those cats were litter mate brothers that were very possessive of me. They ganged up on another male rescue, biting him on the left rear, then a few weeks later, the right rear leg. They weren't having anything to do with another full grown male cat, coming into their house. I gifted my parents the cat that was bitten as my Dad and him became pals.
The FIV cat, Marty had a great life with me. His own room, Lazy Boy recliner, a window box bed with a view of the world. He and the neighbors dog became good friends. Marty was a handsome boy. Medium length very fluffy tabby. Keeping him away from other cats is probably the reason he lived as long and disease free as he did. He had all the Science Diet dry food he wanted and two cans of Fancy Feast a day, plus he had me for 15-20 minutes every morning and a half hour plus every evening. He did however have to listen to talk radio.
Every special needs cat is different. I didn't set out to find a cat, he found me. Once he went to the vet and his status was confirmed, he became mine, for the rest of his life. I learned a lot about FIV and FIV cats. That the disease isn't a death sentence, but that I wasn't going to be responsible for him transferring the disease to another cat. This worked for us.

I use a broad spectrum antibiotic called Clavamox. There is a liquid and pill version.
With my cats, it’s simpler to give pills over a liquid. The liquid smells like bubblegum.
For your cat having gingivitis and it sounds like an aggressive case, the liquid might be less traumatic to administer.
IMO don’t do the Convenia shot. A lot of animals have adverse reactions and after the shot, it’s too late. It will take a couple of weeks to get out of the system.
I’d only do the Convenia shot on a feral cat.
Disclaimer, I’m not a veterinarian and don’t practice medicine, only relaying my experience.

I have my own King George, only his name is Louis Armstrong. Because I was singing "What a wonderful World" by Louis Armstrong one day nearly 4 yrs ago when I heard that unmistakable sound of the cage shutting, when I looked out my window, looking up at me with food smeared all on his face was my LA. I took him to the clinic to get him TNR. When I brought him home the next day, he wouldn't leave the cage. So, I just left him be with food and water outside the cage. He stayed in the cage for a long day and night. When I went out to check on him, he ran out and started chattering and rubbing around my legs. I went to come back in the house, and he followed me onto the porch. I shut the security gate and let him be to see his reaction. He jumped up onto a porch chair I had there and has been here ever since. 4 yrs ago in April. If I let him out of the porch, he goes around the neighborhood and kicks the hell out of any and all other cats. Louie is a BIG BOY and he knows it. He is a real fighter. If I bring him in, he goes after my 2 rescue house cats to beat up. One of my kitties is 21 so I protect her above all else. We have a routine where he comes in for 4 hr segments all thru the day til bedtime, (while he is in with us humans and dogs my older cats are in my room, safe) at which point around 8PM I put him back out onto the porch where he sleeps in a large, heated bedroom (basically a cathouse) I made for him. It has a cat heating mat and a down coverlet. The walls are sealed, and he has food water, a light and litter box. I would love to bring him in permanently, but he is just too mean. I have a large shed in my back yard I have converted to a cat mansion for the street cats that need shelter, food and water. I made it mostly for my little Stella and her son Awol (absence without leave, cuz he got away from me as soon as I brought him home from neuter surgery) He and Stella are true feral cats and a wise one does not get too near Stella, she strikes fast. She trusts me and allows me around her, but by no means am I to touch her. She gives me that look, lol. She so wants to let me, but she just can't, so I respect her and let her be. I talk to her and she chats back, and I sit with her when she is in the mood, but it's up to her. She is at least 10 yrs old. She's been here now for four + yrs.
She has her forever home, and she knows she is safe. I also have the raccoons and skunks, occasional coyote and dear that comes to the food stations I have in my front yard. The shed mansion is for the cats. These cats don't ask for this hard life, and as humans we can help. If you have a lot of cats in your neighborhood and you hear them fighting and screaming find a TNR neighbor and get them fixed.
It is so heart warming to see the homeless, life "scarred" creature, become trusting and loving. So well deserved. Too bad and so sad, that "miracle" is not possible for all of them.

Thank you for giving this boy a place and love. So many black cats never know this kind of safety. When we went to adopt from a shelter 3/4 of the cats there were black. People just don't adopt them very often. We brought home one with a broken tail and a loud purr. Thank you.
List G M, I am often amazed in modern times there are people who still hold onto superstitions typical of the Dark Ages. I love Black Cats! I adopted two from the local shelter about two years ago. Both perfect.
in some cultures (seafaring ones, especially) they are actually considered good luck

O M G! I just lost my King George to a Florida Panther. That chimeraic hell beast got several neighbors pets. I gave him 2 1/2 very good years after I rescued him and his brothers and mother from terrible conditions after I evicted his former humans. RIP King George, everyone misses you terribly you big ginger lug.

I love black cats!! I was the proud "cat momma" of a beautiful male black cat named "Tibo (no he wasn't named after Tim Tebow...) for 16 wonderful years. He was the only cat who chased his tail around in circles the way dogs do, and he went crazy for chasing laser pointers across our family's living room floor. King George is such an adorable cat and I would gladly welcome him into my home if only I could. But I'm sure that with everyone's prayers, our sweet George will find his "furrever" home.

Oh my gosh, he is beautiful. I have a black kitty that was a hoarder's cat (1 of 120 cats in a 2 bedroom apt). He was one of 3 that survived, but was horribly cat aggressive with massive allergies and an auto-immune disorder. He's been my buddy for 11 years now, and loves dogs, not cats. He and my corgi are bonded, I tried finding a cat friend over the years, but he wouldn't have it. Guess my cat is a dog person *shrugs*.

@@samanthaquinlan4126 I never saw the actual situation, but they said the owner had to be taken to assisted living. Mine was a young kitten and was able to get out occasionally, but most of them were so sick from pneumonia and other maladies. It took me a good six months to get mine healthy again though.

My husband and I rescue, spay or neuter and provide a loving home for just about any sad story who walks into our yard. I'm embarrassed to admit we've even "rescued" the neighbor's barn cats -- of course, they were very happy that we spayed them and made sure they had all their shots! We now share two furpersons with them, but I'm hoping for the day a big black boy kitteh will come walking up demanding a home and a lap of his very own. King George is just the kind of guy I could fall in love with.

Cat's are so tough and stoic. They can seemingly walk off injuries and abuse that would see us in hospital, wounded and traumatized for many months.

I had a black cat who was basically raised by our German Shepherd. They were hilarious together, and he mimicked the dog's mannerisms. Best, most affectionate cat you'd ever hope to meet. He was a rescue. Someone put him, his mom and his litter mates in a box on a busy street. There's a special place in hell for people like that. I still miss that little snuggle monster. King George looks just like him. I'm so glad he's found a good home.
