      Me four! I recently increased my monthly donations, and a couple of weeks ago received my first postcard from Flatbush Cats. Up on my fridge now and waiting for more... not as a reminder of the horrible life that street cats suffer, but as a reminder of FC's ongoing efforts to fix this terrible problem. For anyone out there on the fence, please -- if you're able -- donate. If you're watching this, I know you loves kitties and want to help them. Please help.

    This stuff is heartbreaking. This is why TNR is so important: preventing kittens from being born into a world of suffering (that they might not even survive in without human support)

      So true ! I rescue and TNR'd 57 cats just in my small neighborhood. I also have a small colony i care for and have 12 I've taken in because people simply dont want to deal with it. So sad !! If everyone just did a little bit to help things wouldnt be so out of hand. Please people, get your pets spayed, neutered ! 😺😺

    • @Hewanliar1
      @Hewanliar1 2 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      TNR solve the problem in bigger scale but sadly most "pet lover" just want to maximize the good feeling of helping cat/dogs.
      Most popular video mostly feeding or rescuing stray kitten. They dont really care about solving the problem. Just want to judge other human to feel morally superior.

    • @jamesstreet228
      @jamesstreet228 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@nancyzilinsky4219 Hopefully you're spaying the females too? There's always a male around so if you don't spay the females you really haven't accomplished anything. In fact I would concentrate on spaying the females before I worry about the males.
      Edit Also, do you have a vet to help you with it? I have wanted to start a SNR program but the vets I have talked to say they won't spay or neuter wild cats because they are too hostile to handle. I'm still looking around though.

    You notice the kitten's hand stretch out and the woman sort of held it with her ring finger, as if holding a loved one's hand for support. It probably wasn't intentional but I literally burst into tears. They're just babies, for God's sake. I'm so grateful you're helping, but I can't help but think of all those still out there.

      Yes. I adopted my guys Charles and Wilma from a local cat shelter when they were 3 months old. They are about a year now. I love those little guys so much. Wilma was left in a cardboard box with her litter mates when her owner moved out of the apartment thankfully someone found her and brought her to the shelter. Was severely underweight. The shelter got her healthy and now she's living her best life with me and her buddy Charles. Grateful to have them.

Sometimes one has to be a detective to find the ones who hide so well. Yes, neighbours who don't understand can be a problem, unfortunately. I have done TNR work on my own for about 10 years. The problem I had was the cost of spay and neuter. A male cat was costing upwards of $150. Most people can't afford that price. I took my cat to the vet the other day for his 3 year rabies shot and it cost $140. That is ridiculous! If the prices would come down, more people could afford to get their pets fixed and vetted. Irresponsible pet owners and high costs are problems in the USA. Thank you for all you do! Love from Texas

      My parents have a cat colony in the back of the house. None of them have ever suffered severe illness, but some have died from dog attacks, some just left and never came back. There’s almost four generations of cats now. I don’t have money, and my parents don’t have money - we’ve looked at other options, low-cost clinics, vet insurances, none of it we can do. It’s so frustrating we can’t stop it without money. I hate it.

    Seeing stories like this makes you wonder just how many poor kittens are dumped in areas where there is no hope of finding help just to suffer and die. One f my sweetest cats was a dumped former pet that had no idea how to find food. When he stumbled up onto my front porch trying to get to the food I used to leave out for the neighbor's cat (they've moved away now) he was nothing but a skeleton with fur. My vet was shocked that his internal organs were all still functioning. Now he's a big, fat, fluffy, solid black purring machine that loves pets and cuddles. His favorite "toy" is another dumped cat that had one kitten and both now live indoors with me. These two have become almost inseparable. Shortly after I managed to get her inside with her baby and they had adjusted to being indoor pets, somebody dumped another pregnant mother off and although one didn't survive the other two did and the three of them sure keep this house a noisy but happy place. Strangely, the kittens, now full grown cats, are at least twice the size of their mother but she doesn't take any nonsense from them. Mine were the lucky ones. How many are never rescued? Sadly, any rescue groups that try to function locally have to deal with the harassment and STUPID obstacles being put in their way by the local greedy, money mad so-called "Humane Society" that feels like ALL donations of money and support belongs to them alone so the rescues all have to stay low key in order to survive and function.

    Your videos are always so difficult to watch.
    Early 2018 I adopted 2 siblings from Athens, Greece who were found in a similar situation to this one. A sweet girl named Nana and her affectionate brother Feliks. They came to live with me in the Netherlands through an adoption agency that takes care of a tnr program, and brings streetcats and dogs to live with people in countries that don’t have a stray animal problem.
    Unfortunately, exactly a year ago this month, my sweetest girl Nana suddenly became very sick, and despite all of mine and the efforts of the vet over the course of a few weeks, I still lost her.
    When an animal you love is suffering, you want to do everything you can to get them better. For me the round the clock feeding of small amounts, giving her her meds, driving her to her vet appointments (in fact, using a taxi because my stupid car had conveniently decided that this was the best time to definitively stop working), those were very stressful, but nothing compared to knowing deep down that she wouldn’t make it.
    I really admire the volunteers that work with these sick kittens, because that feeling of despair is one of the worst feelings out there. And I think it’s inevitable to not get at least a little attached to any animal you care for.
    (Sorry for the essay)
    TLDR: I have mad respect for volunteers who care for those that need it the most.

    I live in a country where there aren't a lot of stray animals, but it clearly still is the case in lots of other places and it's horrible to see. Keep up the good work!

    The lucky ones as you always point out. So many more yet to save.
    The first time I saw a few of your videos I saw how you emphasized on it and now when I see a new video I always pray for the ones first that are still waiting to be rescued clinging on to life. May god give them the strength to survive longer till someone like you will hopefully reach them.

    These people are incredible... they are really super heroes... I am a monthly supporter to flatbush cats because of the incredible work they are doing in this part of the country...I hope in the near future I will be able to contribute more, because it's organizations like this at the grassroots level that are the key to changing the situation. I send continued prayers and blessings to all these folks to and all the precious fur babies...my hope is I will see in my lifetime an end to this darkness. ❤

    I don't know how they survive until someone comes along. What they eat. Thank you and your team for making the effort, getting in there, and saving their lives! I love your videos. Turns out their little scout was in the best shape of all, and was looking for a kind person to help his sick siblings! Scout would be a great name for him. Or Hercules. Love them all. Thank you for all your edification of the masses. This one did make me cry... I hate that this continues. Animals, whether pets or ferals, deserve to live a happy, healthy, comfortable life. Thank you to all you fosters, rescuers, and TNR folks who save the world one cat at a time! ❤️🙏🍀🐾🐾❤️

    It may be beside the point but contributes to this horrific situation: Why don't some people respect themselves enough to keep spaces free from garbage and conditions that lead to disease and sickness of animals and themselves? My respect for rescuers is strong and unwavering.

      Usually they are sic or depressed themselfs in someway. With cats it can also be someone trying to do a good deed and it getting out of hand.

    My cat Pickle was found exactly in this state. Her white fur was just black and red and brown, so many fleas. She is a pain in my backside and I am grateful every day for the people who rescued her. My cat Hank was similar, and in his case his eyes became so infected he lost one of them. Bless all the heroes helping these babies, and all the other cats.
