I took my 4 yr old daughter to adopt a cat, I wanted the big fluffy ginger cat: but he didn’t like me. 😢 a little black cat ‘chose’ my daughter, we took him home and he’s been our best friend for 22 YEARS!!!! He’s still going ❤❤❤❤

I heard a cat crying one afternoon, so I called it, "Here kitty, kitty". Next thing this beautiful grey cat with a white chest and 4 white feet comes through my fence, runs towards me and jumps at me, luckily my reflexes were actually working that day and I managed to catch her. Now I have never seen this cat before in my life, but she is going mad with the purring and the rubbing and just seems so damn happy to be with me. What else could I have done other than adopted her. She was in very good health and good condition too, I put up posters and asked around, but nobody knew or recognised her either. So off to the vet, she had no microchip, so I microchipped her, and had 9 wonderful, loving and happy years with her. I was forced to say goodbye in August 2023. My heart still has not recovered, I don't know if it ever will. I sometimes think that maybe she was the reincarnation of another cat I had had when I was 16, and lost far too soon, and the grey cat was her coming back to me somehow, that she remembered me when she heard me call to her perhaps? Who knows. While I love dogs too, being without a cat is a situation I abhor and fully intend to alter one day soon. My heart will break again when I lose another companion, but I will never be without a cat for too long, and I never forget any animal that has loved as I have loved it. After all, I will see them all again when my time here is over.

I fell in love with a 15 yo cat who had been abandoned at a local vets office. Everyone I told gave me the deer-in-the-headlights look when I told them his age. He’s 16 now, and sleeps on my head every night. I know I may not have him long, but he’s been the most wonderful cat. I have been blessed. It warms my heart that he feels safe and loved in his senior years….he deserves it.

My cat, Sabrina passed away 2019 at age 17. She was a black and white tuxedo cat. A week after she passed, I went back to the same kennel where I adopted her from. A black and white tuxedo cat came right up to me and began to jump on me, as if to say "pick me, pick me!". He looked so much like Sabrina. Well my husband and I adopted him immediately. I went to the shelter to adopt a cat. I intended to get a senior cat because I wanted to save one from being euthanized. As I was walking around, I came to an orange tabby and as I approached him, he rolled over on his back and meowed at me. I took that as a sign and adopted him. They told me he was 10 yrs. old which is a lot older than I was thinking about. Cats have short enough lives as it is and it’s tough when they die. Well, I may not have that many years with him, but he’s such a nice boy that I can’t regret taking him home. 😊

    • @bakaichigo
      @bakaichigo ปีที่แล้ว +54

10 years is actually around middle aged for a house cat. If he's kept indoors, fed well with at least some wetfood daily, taken to the vet at least once a year for screenings and checkups for health, and otherwise cared for... Your cat could live for up to, or even over 20 years. ALL of our cats growing up made it to over 17 years, with numerous making it to 18, 19 & 20. Some cats can outlive even that!
Highly recommend feeding a "whole prey" food (many brands offer this, just check the labels and make sure there is as little "meal" in the ingredients list as possible) for dry OR wet and doing your best to get your cat eating wet food 1-2x a day on a schedule. We feed ours a quarter of a can of cat food 3x a day, but convincing our newest cat (my adopted girl Nym) to eat wet took awhile... Some cats will only eat dry, particularly if they come from a shelter where that's all they got. That said *_wet food is far healthier for cats to eat as they require the moisture and drink water less._* I also recommend getting a filtered water fountain - they go cheap enough on Amazon, I have the Catit Pixie Fountain and all our animals love it! Only have to change the filter 1x a month and the 3packs of replacement filters are only about 8$ (Canadian) on amazon! Well worth the money.
Highly recommend Jackson Galaxy here on YT (the My Cat From Hell guy) for lots of great advice and recipes for helping to extend the health and longevity of your kitty friend, if you are concerned. Especially if you think you might repeat adopting a senior cat in the future, this can really help to not only elongate but give a really great quality of life to those older kitties!
*_TL;DR: Getting your cat to live near 2 decades or more, at their maximum potential, might seem hard but only requires: annual vet checkup, providing a healthy SCHEDULED diet, keeping them indoors or in a catio when outdoors & ensuring they get play so they do not get fat (just get a lure toy and play once a day until the cat lays down, doing it same time daily will create a routine to stimulate and help make kitty secure). This recipe will give the best potential chance, barring unpreventable health issues, for your cat to thrive at maximum length._*

I once adopted a stray. She had a tattoo, so I found out that she was at least 20 years old. Her previous owners left her behind on purpose. I had her for 4 years, so she was 24 or older when she died. My other cats were adopted privately or from shelters. One was born after I adopted her mother. She was mostly an inside car but she go outside for a few hours every day. She was almost 20 when I had to let her go.

I took my youngest to 'look' at kittens. She said she wanted a ginger kitten. But there was a black/white/gray tabby with a big O on her sides (the initial of our last name ). It held back & just watched, with a look of longing. Long story short we got Isis (my husband was an Egyptian), we took her home. My young daughter lost interest after about a month. But I loved her for 20 years. She filled the hole in my heart when all my children left home (separation anxiety is real folks) . When she died, I wanted to go too. But, I feel sure GOD will reunite us in heaven whenever I cross that rainbow bridge.
Cats 😺 & dogs 🐕are precious companions. GOD BLESS all creatures big & small!

Very serious thing: If a kitten comes to you with no evident mother, u may be the kitten's last chance -- the dangers they face over night, attack from predators or bigger cats or simply being cold or hungry until morning is potentially fatal. The kitten or puppy or other baby comes to you because *It is your natural responsibility to help the helpless.*

When my youngest was about 9, we were in a pet store. Every time we walked past the cage full of kittens, one would watch us and meow loudly, try to reach out to us. Finally we brought my husband over and showed him what was going on. We were looking to get another car at some point and decided this kitten was it. Sebastian has been such a delight to have! He’s our fluffy marshmallow and I’ve gone to the ends of the earth for him (poor guy needed PU surgery a few years back). I know one day he’ll have to leave us, but I hope he lives a very long time.
We were also adopted by a stray who showed up in our yard one day. He was thin as a rail, dirty, looked a bit ragged. When I went to feed him, he’d alternate between hissing and giving me a pitiful meow. I spoke gently to him while keeping my distance and tossed him some food so he knew what I’d brought out. My oldest was watching through the kitchen window and said I wasn’t even up on the back deck before he was at the dish eating. Good sign… So I kept feeding him and he eventually began trusting us. It’s been about 3 years. He’s not the indoor type of guy, so we built him a little house to shelter him from the cold during winter. And no matter how many houses he may hit up in the neighborhood for food, he comes back here to sleep and hang out. I named him Donovan (I was listening to his music at the time) when he became friendly and I realized he was staying with us. And if we ever move, I need to figure out how to wrestle him into a carrier because he’s moving with us. He chose us for a reason, I won’t leave him behind.

I want to thank PAWS so much. Right after Covid lockdown started, I lost my two cats to a pack of Coyotes. It happened so quickly that I didn't have time to save them. I couldn't go through the long solitaire Covid isolation without cats but everyone was adopting. I wanted older cats because they are harder to rehome and I wanted 2. Finally we saw 2 bonded cats on the PAWS website. Their owner had died leaving 27 cats. I saw my two and learned that they had been at a shelter but gotten kennel stress and were fostered out but to a home that usually fostered dogs so were put in a small room and were too stressed to interact with the foster parents much. I took them and that was over 3 years ago! They helped me get through Covid and bring joy everyday! Thank you PAWS for the great work you do and thank you for Sunny and Chubby!!!

I apologized and sat on the floor and told him if he wanted to say hi, I would respect his boundaries. He pondered for all of 30 seconds before he hopped down and crawled up onto my chest. Walked right into the carrier when it was time to go; he had no regrets. And as far as I can tell, he still doesn't. 😂❤

I work at a shelter as a behaviorist, and I have a medical background, so all my cats have been forced on me. I foster cats too sick or injured to go up for adoption, and if they take longer than a month to recover I tend to get attached or keep them.
I've also got a blind cat and a cat who's paralyzed in his hind legs who wouldn't be able to go up for regular adoption that I kept, as well. My poor derpy cst with his busted back legs was born that way, so I fostered him at 6 weeks because he was deathly ill. We took him to every vet in the county, including a university veterinary research center, and no one could figure what was wrong with him, but the consensus was that a heavy viral load had caused neurological damage.
And all of my dogs were fosters with aggression or other issues that meant they'd be euthanized if they went back. So I fixed up their behavior, and now they live with me. 😊

Four years ago i was choosen by the most loving pet in the world. She still lives with my family. Her previous owners had left her in the countryside and she was rambling about two weeks till she find our house. She was waiting for us at our doorstep, when we arrived. She wasn't afraid at all when i take her in my arms. I still remember tears in my eyes, it was too heartbreaking to not to cry. Then, when i was petting her for first time, I heven't know yet, that she was abandoned. The next day I found out, that somebody left her in our village and my parents decided to take her with us. We never thought seriously about adopting a cat, but we did. I definitely found best friend then. Everytime I'm crying she tries to calm me down, look at my eyes and cuddles me. She pretty quickly learnt to give me a paw. Previous owners made such a giant mistake, when they turned away from her, but it's certainly better for me 😈😈😈

Please, please, please-if you think a cat on the street has adopted you, take it to the vet to look for a microchip. Some cats “adopt” multiple households or already have a loving home. And ALWAYS microchip your cat so if they get lost, someone can help them come home.

Collars help, if you can get them to wear them and not break them off right away. Cats get into small spaces, as defined by their whiskers, so cat collars are made to break away so they don’t get caught and choke. My cat’s collar isn’t break away, but he only wears it outside the house, when he’s in his carrier or on leash. I’m a proud helicopter pet parent and my cat enjoys every bit of the attention he gets because of it.

A couple of years ago I noticed a cat out on my terrace. I knew that this little lady belonged to my neighbour so I let her be. Soon after there was a few days of heavy rain and I saw the cat sitting out there again, seeking shelter from the rain. But after 3-4 days she hadn't moved, so I called my neighbour and asked if her cat was eating properly. My neighbour was relieved to hear that her cat was ok as she had not seen it for several days.
She came over immediately with some food and the cat ate it like she never seen food before. But even after that the cat didn't leave my terrace...
I talked with my neighbour and we figured out that the little lady didn't like there as my neighbour had two dogs and another bigger cat there aswell.
I got some catfood and was told to keep feeding her and eventually she go on home.
It's been 8 years and the little lady is still with me :)
She simple moved out and adopted me, I had no say in the matter. And I couldn't be happier!
She does almost everything all the other cats in this video do, she taps me when she wants something, sleeps in my lap or next to me in bed.

I've seen my little black furball in a post, her owner was moving to a military school dorm and could not take her pet with her, so it was either someone adopts the baby or she has nowhere to live. So we, the happy catparents, decided to go buy a cake to celebrate. And right outside a small local shop, stumbled upon another cat, that we could not resist. So now we have two 😂

No lies were told here. When I lost my first good boy in May, I was absolutely lost. He was my therapy companion for 11 years and a very good dog - my constant shadow. Fam were not excited at the idea of bringing a new dog in to help me, so to stave that off they tried to convince me to get another cat (I had previously only had cats my whole life, before getting a puppy in 2012). They took me around to numerous rescues, shelters, adoption centers... none of the cats responded at ALL, they didn't even look up or seem the least bit interested.
Then my dad and sister went to the nearby SPCA and saw a tiny 3 year old black cat with pretty green eyes and came home insisting that I go see her. She hadn't really responded to either of them, but they had both liked her, so I went to take a look. It was only a week after I had lost my bestest pal, so I was not really sure I even wanted a cat at all, I was really more humoring them... When I walked in, there were lots of cats, and plenty that immediately came over to say hi and get pats (most of those were on hold already lol).
On a chair by the window was the little black cat my dad and sis had found, and when I walked over to her and offered her my hand she not only responded... she very gently took my hand with her two little paws and tugged it in to nip in that way cats do when they want to show affection, not play or hurt. Having grown up with cats, I knew what that was and meant -and was floored when she even got up to try and sit on me when I moved to an empty chair. She was being bullied, so was quickly chased off by the more assertive older black cat, but I was sold already.
After petting all of the cats who would let me, and giving the little black cat one more pat and a promise to return, I went out and filled in the adoption forms. A few days later, we had returned with my back-pack carrier to pick her up. She not only remembered me, but abandoned the people trying to play with her to immediately WALK INTO THE CARRIER literally the moment I put it down open. She just walked right into it, and was so calm on the way home.
I've named her Nymeria, which is good because it turns out she is quite the tiny fighter. She's been almost constantly sick since we got her, but is slowly getting better. She had a resperatory infection that would likely have been a lot on her tiny skinny body in the shelter (she must have just caught it when we went to get her as it bloomed over the next week). Then, after fighting that off for the most part, she got an inner or middle ear infection that took almost a whole month to heal! Now it seems she's got allergies... 😆😆
But I have the funds to care for her, and I have the time and space and family to help... She follows me everywhere like a tiny black shadow, and gets very cross when I go out and leave her behind. Since bringing her home on May 10th, we have also gotten me another doggo (adopted July 1st, 2.5 year old chihuahua) who she took to INSTANTLY. Turns out, she must have come from somewhere with dogs because she took to all the dogs, especially my new pup, instantly and shows not a lick of fear around them!
So now, where I used to have one large white dog following me around, I have two smaller animals - a black cat and a white and black dog. We all miss my big boy, and I wish he'd gotten to meet Nym and Jupi (the chi) before he went... but I would not have had the space and need to adopt Nym and Jupi if he were still here.
We really only get them for so long; cherish every moment and don't let the ending of one story stop you from beginning others. I'm sad my Number One is gone, but I'm so glad I adopted the rest of the crew. One day, when I cross the bridge myself, I'll look forward to reuniting with all of my pack. :) Love them hard, raise them well and be grateful for every moment that you get to spend with them, even when they're being troublesome, those moments will be precious in the end too.

I don’t know if I believe in a God, I don’t know who or what brought him into my life, but I care for him and he cares for me…he gives me more than I give to him. And the nights he stays in and snuggles with me is heaven. No, I didn’t have sober parents, nor many friends because of that. But my cat seems to sense this…he is always with me. Dogs are great too, when humans let us down, but a cat gives and never asks for much….they are just “there”

The only two pets that I've ever had that chose me/my family gave me the best though shortest experience ever as a pet owner.
When I was four my mom volunteered at a dog kennel and fell in love with a Samoyed. She was able to bring her home for a trial run to see if she did well around us kids. Creampuff was perfect. She let us kids climb all over her and pull on her fur with zero complaints. At night I would sleep in my parents room and she would wake me up and drag me by my shirt to sleep on the floor with her. And we cuddled every night that week. Sadly, someone brought in a sick dog and the sickness killed every dog in that row, about 13 I believe, including Creampuff before we were able to adopt her. I was only four but I remember being utterly devastated. I think that precious girl knew she was sick and thats why she didnt want to be alone at night.
The second was a tabby cat I named Cookie. I was in 6th grade playing outside with my sister. And then I saw him speed walking from FAR down the country road behind our house. When he was a few yards away I realized he was heading straight toward us. He walked up to us with no hesitation and began scenting our legs. We pet him for a few moments before he made it clear he was following us home. We were only in the backyard area but we did stay directly against our legs as we walked to our front door. And he walked straight inside. We fed him and then he never left. My mom had said we couldnt keep him, like the other stray cats I had brought home over the years, but even she fell in love with that cat. Plus, he liked catching mice and in the country we had a very bad mice problem. That cat was my little buddy. A few months later though, there was an accident and he passed. One of the most traumatizing things that's ever happened to me. I wont say what happened because its too sad but I lost my voice from crying and screaming. Went to school the next day and kept bursting into tears out of seemingly nowhere. I cried more grieving for that cat than any human so far in my life. Cookie was special. I love my two cats and the ones I've had before but Cookie will always hold an extra special place in my heart right alongside Creampuff.

My husband and I have been married 50 years and have had 15 cats. Numbers 14 and 15 are still with us. We have never chosen a cat-they’ve always chosen us. Callie (now 6) was born in our garage and then moved out by her mom. She came back a year later and ran into the house when we opened the kitchen door. Onyx (now 5) was waiting for us at our vet’s office. She was found at about 2 weeks old, alone and starving outside our vet’s clinic. They loved her and fed her back to life and, when we went in to pick up Hoppy’s ashes, we somehow left with Hoppy’s ashes and a 6-week old kitten. We have 13 other stories similar to these 2, including Hoppy’s story. There’s nothing better than a cat who has chosen you.❤

Didn't get a cat at the adoption center but rather, my cat who I named Smudge choses me when she came into our home one day and immidiately became part of my family, we were inseparable, every night she'll sleep right beside me and I'll hug her, her purring was very soothing, the first thing that greeted me at mornig was her booping her head against my face, gently requesting breakfast, after home from school, I clearly remember she's sitting at the front door, waiting for me to return, she even recognized the sound of my steps, everything was going great with her, until I found out she is pregnant and give birth to 3 beautiful kittens, sadly, 1 didn't make it, a few weeks pass and Smudge is still depressed of losing one of her child but miraculously, a stray kitten come to our home, seeking shelters and foods, I thought the kitten would be a temporary guest but it turn out, she's the newest member of our family, Smudge didn't like her at first, neither does her childrens but after a while, they're like a real Family.
However, this story of mine doesn't have a happy ending, because one day when I came homw from school, I realise that none of my Cats is in the house and I panicked, I literally searched the entire village from noon to sunset, then I found out that my Aunt gave them away to other peoples because she said the house is smelling bad, I didn't even get the chance to say goodbye because they know I wouldn't give her up for anything, I haven't forgiven nor talk to her since then, and that was more than a decade ago.

I still vividly remember the day I adopted her at the shelter. She was so thin and frail, her coat of fur was ragged at best, and she looked so scared of everyone who passed her by before me. But once I walked up to her cage, she rather quickly got up and started grazing the side of her head against the metal bars whilst purring softly, while I had brought my fingers in to touch her. I knew right away that she was the one, in that moment, asked one of the ladies who were working at the shelter at the time to take her out and put her in the side room for me, and it was love at first sight for sure. Abby got placed onto the cold floor below and automatically jumped up onto my lap and quickly fell asleep against my stomach while I was sitting there on the wooden bench. What an affectionate, loving soul she was, from day one of owning her, down to her last moments I had to spend with her.

A few years back my mum and I went to the local rescue just to look at cats since we were thinking about getting one again after not having one for a few years. We didn't intend on getting one at that moment - just looking to see what they had. The minute we started looking around the enclosures this tiny black kitten was right up trying to get our attention so we went in to see her first. When we stepped in she was all over us - meowing, playing, rolling over, and climbing up onto my shoulders. Of course, she was just the first one we interacted with so we went to see the others. All of the cats were nice and there were some absolutely beautiful ones but our minds just kept going back to the first kitten.
After looking at everyone and finding it difficult to leave without taking at least one of them, we asked to go back and see the first kitten. We went in again and we knew we couldn't leave her there. We had been chosen.
We didn't know a lot of her backstory but she was alone in her enclosure, no litter mates or anything. She was also younger than the normal adoption age and was set to have her first vaccinations so we reserved her and waited a few days. Then we got her home! She was absolutely perfect and made everyone's day brighter!
Unfortunately, this is where the story takes a turn. Once she was old enough to be spayed we started introducing her to the outdoors as she was a very outdoorsy cat - she just wouldn't have been happy staying in all day. Our area is very quiet and always has cats running around. She always came back every night and adored being outside. However, one day she got hit by a car. Not one cat has been hit around here since us moving here, and even now it hasn't happened again. We did lose her that day and it was the worst feeling in the world. I still feel so bad for letting it happen but I know she wouldn't have been content with life if she didn't have her time outside. She was a total free spirit!
We were all hollow from that point and it was just too quiet in the house. About a month later we decided that we couldn't live with the silence and were looking for another cat to help with the healing process. She was not being replaced - no one could replace her.
My mum had seen an ad with some nice kittens and asked to see them. Of course, I found an ad with this stunning half-ragdoll boy and we also asked about him. We didn't hear back from the first people so we went to see the half-ragdoll boy. He was adorable and so clingy - he stuck to us like velcro with those little claws. We reserved him and started the drive home. That's when we got a reply from the first people and, my mum being my mum didn't want to seem rude so set up a time to see the kittens the next day.
The next day rolls around and she takes my brother to go and see them. There were some lovely tabbies that I wanted but, when she got there, the tabbies were all very timid and didn't really go up to them. Of course, which one went up and fell asleep right next to them... a pure black girl, of course. The very one I didn't want because it was too much of a painful reminder.
That night they came back and told me this one chose them and yes, it was the black one. I didn't go to see her that night as I just couldn't.
The next day rolls around and I'm asked to look after the kitten while everyone goes out...
I sit in the living room with her and she proceeded to give me all her love and cuddle into my neck and fall asleep. She won my heart in seconds.
After a few weeks we got that other boy and the duo helped heal our hearts. Now, almost 4 years old, they are still our babies. We went back last year to the person who had our boy (they had pure ragdolls this time around) and got ourselves another cutie. He just turned 1 and is absolutely mental 😂
Even all these years later I don't think our black girl lets me live down my initial distaste. She is my shadow. She has to be wherever I am. I am the only female she dotes on (she's loves on males more - she still loves everyone but seems to show a more loving side to men). I get love bites from her and she always has to scrape my door to get into my room. Even if I have my door open to the catio (I have another door that has access to the back garden) she still wants to stay in with me. If I go out, she follows. We just have this deep connection and we can just communicate with each other like we're the same species - we just understand each other. I have the same relationship with the others but with her, it's just that little bit more. She's my angel and I'm so thankful for her ❤
I like to think our girl, Raven, was sent by our first girl, Xena. And so were our boys, Kenzo and Gizmo. Raven is our queen who expects to be treated as such. Kenzo, the half-ragdoll, is extremely anxious around people he doesn't know but is such a lovebug! Gizmo, the pure ragdoll, is absolutely insane and has no thoughts going on inside that head of his. Altogether, they are the perfect trio and my life feels complete with them!
    💗 Thank you, Xena 💗

Had a grey fluffy cat run into our house, and plant himself in the middle of my bed. It was a neighbor's cat, but the neighbor siad "He's all yours". Had a wonderful 10-years with him.

@@JewelWildmoon I seriously believe it. We all talk about how it is such a privilege to be chosen by a cat and what a beautiful relationship they have. Cats on the whole are pretty smart. There's too many stories on TH-cam that inform me. I don't know whether it's your smell or what! Your story reminds me of that man who was rushed by one kitten with a further 10 to follow! 😂Its like they sent out a decoy and then got hijacked like a highway robbery with the other 10!How did these kittens that this was their man?

@@maryapatterson Omg yes that story lol. I had something similar happen some years ago with one of my old cats. She had a litter of kittens that ended up rushing through the back gate. The next day when a family friend had to come and do some electrical work, all the kittens were in the yard 😆 All the kittens got homes and by the next day, there was one more we didn't find along with her mom, so we adopted both of them.

this happened to me with my first cat. his name was shady. my parents were talking to the worker at the adoption center and i sat down on one of the chairs, and this cat came up to me and sat on my lap, purring, nuzzling, everything. i immediately knew he was the one. we ended up getting two cats because he had a sister and they sort of came in a double package. unfortunately, he died in march of cancer. miss you my sweet baby ❤

A strange kitten jumped onto my lap. I was reluctant to take her in because my rental house didn't allow pets. She wouldn't take no for an answer, so I relented and took her in. This was in 2006 when she was about 3 months old. She's 17 now, alive and kicking.

This happened to me. When I was looking for my first cat, my mom and I went to the rescue place. I was looking around and my mom pointed out a tortie who was not in a crate. I went over and greeted the cat. A few minutes later, I picked the cat up and she gave me "head butts" and she was purring really loudly! Then she went to one of my shoulders, behind my head to my other shoulder then back in my arms to give me more head butts. She DEFINITELY CHOSE ME! I had to wait a could of weeks for her to come home because they discovered she wasn't spayed and then needed to be treated for an upper respiratory infection. I named her Belle. She was such a great cat! I joke and say she was a dog in a cat suit! I taught her how to sit, down, rollover and recall on command. And she liked going for walks in the woods.

A friend had way too many cats, and (irresponsibly) had not desexed any, so was naturally having more... I needed a companion for my 2yo as the elder cat of the household had tragically died. I knew to let them choose me (this was my regular method)...none did, but there was a new litter of newborns as well, so I returned in 4 weeks.
One by one, they were placed into my hands. About the 4th one he said "She doesn't like being handled, so will want to get down straight away". Nope, she climbed up my arm and settled on my shoulder, where she remained for half an hour. I had been chosen. Almost 2 years on, we're inseparable.

I feel for you. It is a weird feeling, after years of having multiple loving rescue and stray cats, to adopt an ornery rescue cat, wanting only to improve its health and living conditions, only to have it hate you. He finally mostly tolerates me after five years, but still occasionally claws me and won't tolerate other cats.

In one of my old apartments, we found a cat in our basement. We had no idea that there was a crawl space that lead from the outside. It was below freezing with snow on the ground and we let him stay inside with us while we tried to find his family. Along with many other ways of searching for his family, we also brought him to the vet to see if he was chipped. When no one claimed him after a month, we adopted him.
I've rescued, fostered and adopted many cats and it's important to make sure they don't already have a home before "rescuing" them. Some cats are indoor/outdoor cats and can be very social while some are just lost and accidentally gotten out. When people claim they "rescued" a cat that already had a home, it causes loving families to lose their furbabies. Please always check to see if an animal already has a home before rescuing them. Local animal shelters and vets can assist with this.

A cat that was left behind when his owner moved found its way into my garage where there was food and water for another cat i had. Took me a year for him to gain my trust. He was old, and looked like he may have either been abused or hit by a car and his leg was healed a bit crooked. He was close to death when he made it to my garage. One day i opened the garage door to go into the house, and he helped himself to go inside. He was strictly my cat and he wanted nothing to do with anyone else. I gave him a great life or what was left of it, which was about 8 years. He had to be put down last year, and it was the first time my kids had ever seen me cry. I have 2 more thanks to my kids buying me one, but like the stray, they both only want me. I didnt want any more cats because to this day im still sad at losing my stray, and dont want to go through that again. Im old and i can hopefully go before my cats do for that reason.

I had a cat named lilly who was my whole heart. She had a seizure disorder and passed after 4 beautiful years together. I said my heart cant possibly love another as much so i swore ill never have another. Then one day i heard a noise outside my door and went to check it out. A momma cat was standing just outside my carport area amd her baby was laying on my 1 tiny step. She was so sick, barely breathing from all tbe boogies clogging her little nose. Momma stared until i picked up the baby .. soon as i did momma turned and walked away looking back once more. I said ill save her mommy. Thank you for trusting me..its been 3 years and Mashka is healthy, happy, and spoiled rotten. I adore her. Ive never seen her kitty momma again but ill forever be thankful she brought me her baby to save.

Years ago a senior calico princess started coming to our doorstep. We started feeding her and she eventually started trusting us and she became my best friend. We named her Suzy. She's not with us anymore but my family and I are raising her descenants now. Before she passed away, she had given birth and one of her kittens also gave birth almost two years ago. Now, one of Suzy's grandchilren, another beautiful calico princess just like Suzy, is under our care. She's almost two years old and she also gave birth a few months ago. She gave birth to two gorgeous female kittens and we kept them both. We've spayed her now. Now my babies (my cat, the two kittens, my dog, a new puppy and our chickens) are in my hometown and I miss them so much because I moved out and went to the city for my studies after I was done with high school. I'll see them next month when I visit my family for Christmas and I can't wait to hold them again. And I wish I could bring Suzy back. To see her pretty eyes and hear her sweet meows and purrs again. I miss her. Animals are truly the best and we need to keep them safe at all costs. I've raised over 30 animals in my life and I wouln't trade that life for anything
